Time for the 'meat' and greet

[NOTE: This takes place DURING the holiday plot. If your character is involved in that, then they're still on the surface and not on the ship at this time.]

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. The mission is still going on, so if your character is offship, they won't be around for this.]

"There's nothing we can't do if we do it together," Kala said fiercely.

Rising Phoenix said, the slightly out of sync voice a near warble in enthusiasm.  Kala ran her fingers over the glassy domed jewels that flickered in a brighter glow and her expression was softer for a moment, pulling back the layers of stress for an instant.

"You're always ready," she said with a sweet smile.  "And that means I'm ready, too.  The Ohm will be hard pressed to put us all down."

Rein laughed and nodded. "Yep desu!"

There really wasn't too much to say, other than bask in the glow of camaraderie. The pair were definitely pumped up for whatever would come their way, and Rein was all smiles.

"You think Nanoha and Fate will be surprised to see us?"

[identity profile] magetrouble.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd be surprised to see us," Kala admitted. "It's kinda...weird...I wound up here anyway. You? Not so much! After all, you actually know both Fate and Nanoha. I'm just me, not really anyone at all, but I guess that's the point. Even ordinary mages can be helpful." Well, weird ones at the least.

Kala stroked a jewel absently and Rising Phoenix let out a soft barely audible hum as the mage sat thinking for a moment. She finally shook her head and laughed.

"We'll be a pleasant surprise, if anything," she said with a grin. "I think they can use as much of those as possible right now, considering."

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
"More mages never hurt any battlefield," said Rein sagely. "And more friends just make everything a lot better in the long run!"

[identity profile] magetrouble.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
"That's something I can agree with," Kala said, shifting so she was leaning back into the meaty part of the chair she probably should have been sitting in. "Maybe this is where I'm supposed to be make proper friends. I've been so busy studying, I usually forget to say two words to anyone but Audis, who isn't very sociable anyway. I almost had my advanced classes on maintenance done, too."

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? I'm pretty good at maintenance for devices. I could probably help you out then!" exclaimed Rein with a little grin. "Who knows, maybe I can help with repairing your device fully."

[identity profile] magetrouble.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
"We can use every ounce of help available," Kala said her voice serious. "Especially when it comes to Rising Phoenix." The Device let out something of a whirring click and Kala sighed. "Maybe one day we'll be able to restore both devices to the way they were supposed to be. I think they'd both like that."

the device said, the slightly out of sync voice dipping into lower tones before finishing in a more feminine voice for the second time in one day. For a moment, Kala looked startled and then broke into a proud smile. Risingtide really was still in there and it wasn't just a malfunction! He didn't much come out often, but Kala was sure that was Raging Phoenix's doing right then, letting her know they both wanted to be properly repaired.

She had a feeling it was going to take a long time, but they'd get better. All of them.

Curiosity was one of Pikachu's driving traits, and seeing a tiny girl floating through the air and talking to another, much taller girl was decidedly strange to the electric Pokemon. He approached them slowly, not wanting to disturb them and also not wanting them to leave before he could say hi. "Pika pi?" he asked, deciding that there was no need for shyness and approaching even nearer.

Odd as it was, he could only imagine what Samus might have been encountering on the surface of the planet, and if she was going to be stuck down there for a bit, he might as well make some new friends on the ship. "Pika!"

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Rein noticed Pikachu first and she squealed a little. "Oh how cute desu~!"

Floating down, she smiled at Pikachu and bowed. "I'm Rein and this is Kala. And you are?"

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
He couldn't help it. He stood up taller to introduce himself, setting one paw on his chest. "Pikachu," he replied cheerfully.

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"A pleasure to meet you Pikachu," said Rein cheerfully, smiling at the small electric rodent who was just as tall as she was. "Have you been here long?"

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Long was one way to put it. "Pi pika pika pipipi pikachu! Piii pikapi pika pikachu," he said, treating the tiny girl much like he would another Pokemon. That is, yattering off about what he'd been through at ninety miles an hour, hoping to explain something.

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I see," said Rein, somehow managing to understand the Pokemon with his incredible speed. "So you've been here for quite some time and you spend time with this woman, Samus was it?"

She smiled. "Don't worry, please continue. I've got a language module and while it's not completely accurate, I think I can understand everything."

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"You can understand me?" Pikachu asked incredulously, his eyes misting. Since he'd been here, no one had been able to understand him. The thought that someone could, despite his wanting it, was so unexpected that it even had the Pokemon tearing up.

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"To a point, but yes," smiled Rein. "Universal translation is part of my abilities desu. It's why I'm such a good ambassador along with Hayate."

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Pikachu's sniffles and sobs were happy, Rein, really. He couldn't hug her since she was floating in the air and so tiny, but it was still a big moment for him.

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Letting out a "awwww!" Rein floated forward and hugged Pikachu's neck. "Aww there there Pikachu! I'll be here and I can understand you now! It'll be all fine, and you can tell your friend Samus that you have found another friend desu!"

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Tiny hug was also very much appreciated, and Pikachu returned the hug as best he was able. "Thank you!" he said. "I've never met anyone besides another Pokemon who can understand me!" Samus had always seemed to understand him, but he knew she couldn't actually understand Poke-speak.

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Rein giggled. "I'm special, I'm a Unison Device. It means I have vast knowledge of languages and can translate things with magic desu! I'm not a Pokemon but I'm definitely willing to be your friend!"

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Wow! That's really neat," Pikachu replied. He thought for a while, wondering if he could suggest something they could do together. Finally...

"Do you like haiku?" he asked.

[identity profile] pocketloli.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Rein clapped her hands. "I love Haiku! Though I'm not too good at it. Do you know good Haiku Pikachu?"

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I like to come up with haiku," he said, "but I don't know how to write it very well. So I put it in on these!" Holding up his own omnicom, showing his last entry (http://community.livejournal.com/trans_channel/66757.html) to the network.

"I'd ask about learning how to do the special writing, but I don't exactly know the word for it, and people have a hard time understanding me."

Reading the Haiku over, Rein's expression blossomed into a wide smile. "These are amazing Pikachu! They're incredible!"

"Special writing... you mean English or Japanese desu? Cause I can show you how to write in both!" said Rein. "It's really quite simple."

Kala paused at the sound the mouse-like creature made and then stopped once it was obvious he was greeting them. He wasn't like anything she'd ever seen before, and he seemed friendly. Generally, things that tried to take your face off tended to bite first if you came close enough. Deciding that was enough for her, she abruptly knelt to get a better look at this...pika thing.

"Hello, I'm Kala," she said cautiously and slowly offered her palm like she used to do with Halfer. Granted Halfer was a horse, but still, this creature seemed intelligent at least and she really didn't want to offend him in case he was that intelligent.

[identity profile] friend-of-samus.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Pii pika," he replied, glancing at her hand. He was rather curious about what she meant with the whole hand thing, but it wasn't a threat to him.
