Time for the 'meat' and greet

[NOTE: This takes place DURING the holiday plot. If your character is involved in that, then they're still on the surface and not on the ship at this time.]

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. The mission is still going on, so if your character is offship, they won't be around for this.]

Vivio's eyes went wide as she heard someone call out here name and it wasn't Reinforce. Turning her head, she faced Kala and blinked. "Y-Yes? You know me?"

"...more like of. I think I read some papers about you, which sounds pretty creepy, but it's not, I swear," Kala said quietly, still peering up at her. "I never actually met you, though I might have seen your once or twice. I've been retraining, so I guess I don't really know anyone outside of Audis and my very small team. It's nice to meet you, now, though. I'm Kala Fierro."

She offered Vivio a soft smile.

"It's also nice to know I can put names to faces and that there's more mages here."

She's from Mid-Childia. She's from her world. Her smile turned wide as she spoke. "It's nice to meet you, Kala!" she motioned to her Device. "This is Sacred Heart! I call him Kris!"

The Device waved again in greeting. Maybe one day it could start speaking, but not now.

"Hello Sacred Heart," Kala said with a wide smile. "You must have a very new kind of Device. My Rising Phoenix has...been around for a long while. Longer than I've been alive, I think. Kris is a good nickname. Easy to say, too."

"There's nothing we can do if we do it together," Kala said fiercely.

Rising Phoenix said, the slightly out of sync voice dipping into lower tones before finishing in a more feminine voice.

Even if Rising Phoenix was out of sync, Vivio heard what it said and started flailing.

"N-No, no! Please, you don't have to call me 'Lady'! Just Vivio is fine!" the child said. If there was one thing she didn't like, it was being referred to in such a dignified manner. She wasn't the Saint Kaiser anymore - that was in the past. She was Vivio Takamachi and nothing would change that.

Rising Phoenix said in her odd warbling voice.  Kala went a little pink and mumbled a soft apology of her own.  The last thing she wanted was to make anyone feel any more uncomfortable.

"I think she was trying to be respectful," Kala said with a laugh.

Rising Phoenix said in a much more muted tone.  The distortion was a little thicker and Kala frowned gently.  She was going to have to set Rising Phoenix into repair mode for a few hours if this kept up.

"Heheheh, I know... and I'm sorry I acted like that, just..." Vivio began, scratching the back of her head in embarrassment. "...I don't like to be referred to those names. Especially when some people like to keep referring me as the Saint Kaiser still... that's not me. Not anymore."

Sacred Heart nodded in agreement.

"I have to ask, though... what's wrong with Rising Phoenix? It sounds bad..."

"You don't have to apologize. It's okay," Kala said with a grin. "Other people might want to give you a symbol to stand behind and a name that means more, but you're who you choose to be, no matter what you're called." She brushed her fingers over the gloves and the shining jeweled dome for a moment, pulling her thoughts in order.

"Rising Phoenix is, apparently, having a bad day. When she was given to me, she was very badly damaged. In fact, she was so damaged that she linked with another device to provide offensive capabilities. There are some days when she barely functions, but she still tries very hard. Sometimes her voice is more than a little off and she gets stuck on words. Usually having her sit in repair mode helps, but I know I'm going to have to finish my maintenance studied before I truly can work on fixing her. She's...stubborn and won't let anyone but me even try to fix her, though we managed to fit her with a cartridge system for emergencies the last time. I had to be there every step of the way, if I left, she'd just error out. One day, I'm going to properly fix her, though, so I've got to study hard."
