Time for the 'meat' and greet

[NOTE: This takes place DURING the holiday plot. If your character is involved in that, then they're still on the surface and not on the ship at this time.]

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. The mission is still going on, so if your character is offship, they won't be around for this.]

Kirk clasped his hands behind his backs cooly. Praetor. Remus. A Romulan? But he didn't look the part, surely. Then again, he'd only seen on Romulan in his time and he'd looked very much like Spock.

"Apologies, Praetor. As for our Captain? Our Acting Captain is currently Jean-Luc Picard, of Starfleet."

Shinzon started, a sharp twitch running along his body. Almost involuntarily, he took a step closer, as if a closer study would tell him Kirk was lying. He had to be lying.

"No." He couldn't be here. If Picard was here, than Shinzon would have been better served if he'd died.

Kirk frowned, head tilting to one side. Obviously this Shinzon knew Picard, to elicit a reaction like that. Probably did, considering the resemblance, "It's true. Where do you know him from?"

"Where is he?" His patience had abandoned him completely the moment he'd heard that name, and he couldn't be bothered to lay out his life's story for this prominent figure in Earth's history. He was nothing while Picard was still alive, and the only way Shinzon would believe Kirk was by seeing his genetic donor himself.

"Why would you like to know, Praetor?" In Kirk's experience, the Romulans were never really up to anything good. He folded his arms, "He'll be along soon enough. For now, you're going to have to be patient."
voiceshall_echo: (So what am I?)

"We are the same man," he snarled, but his eyes were already off Kirk, searching through the crowd of people for a hint of a head as bare of hair as his own. "Tell me where he is."

That statement brought a flash of insight, "You... can't be. An alternate version of Captain Picard? A clone? What are you?" His expression turned confused, "I'm afraid I can't tell you that yet. Not until I know more about the situation between you and Picard."

"I'm Reman." He was ready to snarl at the human, and the idea of shaking him until he answered was painfully tempting. It was a moment before Shinzon could force his jaw to work again. "A clone. You don't need to know anything more about the situation."

"I'm afraid that Captain Picard is otherwise occupied at the moment. And quite frankly, until I know what your intentions are, I don't think you ought to know."

Kirk settled his hands on his hips. A Reman clone of Picard. That hardly sounded like it was something Picard would like having around, especially if the Romulans and the Federation still had an antagonistic relationship.

Picard was aboard, somewhere, and just as he had when he escaped the mines, he was desperate to see the man he'd been created from. And acting like a loose canon to Picard's newest First would hardly accomplish that goal. Shinzon lifted his chin, nostrils still flared, shoulders still tense, but his voice was calm - enough - when he spoke again.

"Of course." He managed a tight smile that came nowhere near his eyes. "Then perhaps when he is no longer indisposed, you can let him decide whether or not seeing me is worth the risk." Shinzon would have to do the same.
