Podpop-ery

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: Post your character with one post establishing them as being podpopped. Tag each other in groups of 2's, 3's, and 4's, to get some interaction to start with. If a thread doesn't already have 2 or 3 people tagged in, tag it with your character's podpop popping near the other people, rather than making a new subthread. If you would like to play out them talking to the AI, please send an email to the mods making the request--we do this only by request. Then move onto the big Newbie Meeting. Once your character has gotten the rundown from the old crew, you may start posting entrance posts and freely tagging.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

--

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

When you call out, ask where you are, a voice speaks to you, in your head. She tells you:

||You are here.||

When you ask who she is, she tells you that her name is STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT, but that you may call her Stacy. When she tells you who she is, there is a gush of emotion, love, maternal warmth. You are on a ship. She is that ship. Her name is Stacy and she loves you. Her voice is warm and motherly, even if these messages sound almost automated.

Glowing phosphorescenet lights appear in pustules along the floor. They lead you up a massive spiraling walkway that gives you a view of what are possibly millions in stasis. At the top is a room with moving vines that clean you and clothe you in a plant-like body-suit--soft, but durable. After that, the lights lead you to a great cavernous room with a clear floor that lets you see all the holes and tunnels in the walls of it. When you reach the center, the last thing she tells you before whisking you away to gather your belongings and meet the rest of the crew is this reassuring thought:

||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||

||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||

She will tell you nothing more. Your answers lie with these "others" she speaks of.

Sam shook his head slowly. "Not unless draconians are a type of demon. Which, if they were, I'm pretty sure I would have come across them before now." He pulled himself up to his full height, not really used to having to look UP at people. "Sam. Sam Winchester."
governorkang: (Sons-of-bitches command face)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-01 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not a demon. ...a closer relation to dragons." Kang lowered his hands, reasonably sure that he wasn't going to be attacked. There wasn't really much of anything an unarmed human could do to hurt him anyways. "Well met."

He looked around, snout wrinkling at the scents, and his wings rustled uneasily as he realized that they were in something alive. And, there are lights that seem to be leading them somewhere. "What is this Chosen crap?"
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-01 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Sam didn't exactly want to go up against anything with claws when he had nothing. Especially not any clothing. "Dragons? Seriously?" Sam's brow wrinkled. "Huh. I've never heard of dragons even existing, but there are a lot of things that they said didn't exist, too." Like angels.

Sam grimaced and shook his head. "No idea." He'd heard it. But he wasn't sure he believed any of it. Or wanted to believe it yet.
governorkang: (Well shit / Disgusting)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-01 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Kang nodded, "Long story. Now isn't really the time for it. Apparently, we're supposed to be somewhere, and I don't know about you, but I want some answers, and to get this damn slime off of me."
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-01 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like it might be an interesting one." Dragons. REALLY? Sam shook his head and took a breath. "Yeah, okay. Slime off. Maybe find some pants and my brother." A pause. "God, let it be in that order."
governorkang: (What / This is stupid)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-01 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm more worried about finding a weapon than I am clothes," Kang snorted, wings rustling again. At least he could move them more freely now; unfortunately, the slime was drying, and it was itchy against his scales. "My mate had better be here, too, or someone's likely to get killed."

You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left.

He didn't like the sounds of that.

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-01 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam looked at the ground. Or, more importantly, at the lights. "I guess we follow these until we get where we're going." After a moment, he added, "My brother better be here, too." He wasn't going into what might happen if he wasn't.

And, frankly, Sam was so over the Chosen thing it wasn't even funny.
governorkang: (The hell is going on / Fucking hangover)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-01 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Kang nodded, holding back a short growl. He'd been serious when he'd said someone was likely to get killed. He started to follow the lights, "Now I'm curious. Where are you from, that dragons are thought to not exist?"
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-01 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as it wasn't Sam, Sam might even help. So long as it got answers. "Earth. Though I'm not sure that's really what you meant by the question."
governorkang: (Home / Hatchlings are a handful)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Earth?" Kang repeated, frowning. "I've never heard of... Earth." He still hadn't made the connection yet.
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Neither had Sam. To be fair, though, Sam wasn't used to thinking about things like multiple worlds except in the comic book sense. "Well, that's the English name. There are other names in other languages." He frowned, though. "On the other hand, to me it sounds like you're speaking English."
governorkang: (o rly bozak)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Shaking his head, Kang quirked an eyebrow ridge at Sam, "We're speaking Common." Everyone on Krynn called it Common, he thought. "I've never heard of English, either. What part of Ansalon is Earth on?"
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Sam blinked up at Kang. "Umm." Give him a moment, this is going to take some working out. "I've never heard of Ansalon. Earth's a planet." Common. Common, he'd heard of that before, hadn't he?
governorkang: (Home / Hatchlings are a handful)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Now it was beginning to click. Almost hesitantly, Kang asked, "Does the name Krynn sound familiar?"
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's starting to click together for Sam, too. Not that he knew what Common was, yet (he never actually played D&D, he just had friends who did), but something wasn't right here.

Sam shook his head slowly. "Never. I guess America means about the same to you as Krynn does to me?"
governorkang: (Neutral)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, this was certainly interesting.

"Different worlds," Kang said in a soft voice, almost to himself. "The same races existing on multiple worlds. I never thought it to be possible. What other races are on Earth?"
chosenfamily: (Default)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Sam shook his head. "Mostly just humans. We have some weirder races, like wendigos and shapeshifters. Vampires and werewolves were human to begin with, so I think they still count."
governorkang: (The hell is going on / Fucking hangover)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
"What about dwarves, ogres, elves?" Kang didn't have any idea what wendigos, vampires and werewolves were. He could see a few figures up ahead, heading in the same direction.
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Sam kept shaking his head. "Dwarves, back home, are just humans with a difference in their genetic make up that makes them small. Comes with all sorts of health problems, generally. Ogres and elves, though, no."
governorkang: (Neutral)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
It was... a lot of information to absorb. Kang was able to get a general idea of what Sam meant, even if he didn't know what the hell genetics were. A thought popped into his head, and his wings rustled uneasily, "Does Earth have gods?" The Krynnish ones had to have gone somewhere, after all.
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Sam chuffed out a laugh and nodded. "Yeah. Most religions these days only believe in a single God, but there are plenty of older religions with gods. Or beings that they believe are gods, at least."
governorkang: (o rly bozak)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
"...just one?" Alright, so, they hadn't gone to Earth. He wasn't sure if he wanted them back anyways, especially Takhisis. "Your world sounds very different from mine."
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Sam nodded and rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, sounds like. Though apparently, right now, we're a little iffy on that one God being around, either."
governorkang: (Now that's funny / Smirking)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-02 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Kang laughed somewhat bitterly, looking down at the ground, "It's seeming like gods don't change, no matter what world they're on."
chosenfamily: (Nekkid/Shirt off)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2010-01-02 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
He snorted and shook his head. "No. Most likely not."
