Where's a good distraction when you need one?

They haven't been all getting locked away in experiments. Well maybe they had at times and somehow found the way to block it out.

It's a mystery.

But now there was a Nathan, a Xander, and a Kate all milling around the Living Area. Nathan was currently pacing around, while Kate was checking her bow on one of the fleshy seats. Xander was resisting the urge to poke the weird sculpture just from sheer boredom.

If there was ever a group that needed distractions, it would be them.

(ooc: Tossing the lot in since been ages that they're all had posts and threads. Newly popped pups, come on in. Old pups, definitely stop by. Especially any car keys one. My AIM's Whspr2ascrm13 if you need to ping. Tag any of them individually, just say you want in the thread. The post will be open forever for threads.)

Kate got up, and remarked, "Well this is totally a group of two so it fits."

"Probably still a lot down there to check out anyway. Especially if we got to worry about anything else sneaking out." Why she kept herself armed and ready at all times.

"The city's huge," Paco said. "And I'll bet that some of the buildings have secret passages."

Into the Hub and down to the fourth level they go!

"Besides, between your mighty arrows and my stick, I think we've got it covered long enough for back-up to arrive."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Secret passages? That sounds good in a creepy something could jump out at us way."

She seemed bemused as they walked along.

"Oh come on, usually we *are* the backup, we'll be fine."

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
"If something jumps out at us we'll scream and beat it up," Paco said, then looked thoughtful. "Come to think of it, that's pretty much exactly what happens every time my sisters drag me into a haunted house with them."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"You scream?" Kate laughed at that, "Usually we just make smartass comments and then beat it up."

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"No, my sisters scream, and I try to keep Soledad from accidentally throttling Jaime with his shirt and her and Viviana teaming up with Brenda to kick the ass of the poor guy in the werewolf costume." Paco shook his head and laughed.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, I stand corrected." She was still giggling some as they walked along. She glanced upward.

"God I miss New York."

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
"A guy's only got so many hands!"

One of them was draped across Kate's shoulders as they wandered along. Paco did seem to have a destination in mind, though.

"Yeah. I know the feeling." He sighed.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Unless you can grow extra like some people," Kate agreed, and gently leaned toward him. She didn't mind being lead for the time being. Probably found something interesting to check out.

"Well we all do. Wondering if we'll ever get back."

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Wasn't kidding when I said we were going to," Paco said. "Superboy and Robin and Impulse have stuff to do back home so that the world doesn't explode before me and Jaime got grabbed." He paused and made a face. "Get grabbed. Will be grabbed? Man, time travel sucks."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh god, does it ever. Let's skip the time travel talk before we both get headaches, ok?"

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like someone's got experience!" Paco laughed. "But yeah. They were pretty important in their future, my past, so I'm going to take that as a sign we're getting back."

Unless time travel was doing screwy things to the timeline. Which was entirely possible, but threatening him with a headache.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Our former teammate's future self was a major baddie who got knocked around by the older Avengers a number of times. And one of the main things was that his older self could travel through time. Some timeline issues got turned around just because his younger self was in our present, his past, maybe future... Um, yeah definitely experience."

Kate glanced at some of the buildings.

"So what's around here?"

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I think I followed that," Paco said after a moment. "But please don't explain it again. I like my brain where it is."

He grinned and pointed down the street or path or whatever it was the wound between the buildings toward the rusty-looking shack where he and the other kidnappees had holed up once they'd gotten out of the nest.

"We found this really cool thing in the clock house. I wanted to show it to you."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Definitely, it even worse going through it," she readily agreed.

"Is it behind the run down kind of crackhouse-y looking building?" Kate dubiously asked once she caught sight of the shack in the distance.

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"It is the crackhouse-looking building," Paco said. "It's full of broken clocks for some reason. We found this weird secret passage and a hidden pool, it's way awesome."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"A hidden pool? Here?" Kate brightened, though part of her wondered the odds of it meaning swimming pool and not sewer pool full of poo? Which granted is a lot more likely in a city.

She continued walking alongside him though.

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, hidden pool. Who'd have thought?"

Paco gestures her into the clock house. As suggested, all four walls were absolutely covered in clocks, all of them stopped just before three.

There was a platform in the center of the room, turning slowly and ticking away quietly.

"Guess where they keep the secret passage."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well I'll take the giant spinning platform for 500 hundred dollars," She wryly commented.

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Bzzt! Wrong! That's the trigger to open the secret passage." Paco hopped up on the platform and grinned at her. "Not exactly the most discreet thing ever."

The minute hand on the clock face bobbed back and forth, and he pushed it into the o'clock position. One by one, all of the other clocks in the shack clicked to three and the doors and windows shut tight.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
She hopped up after him.

"I was so close, darn. So what's my consolation prize?"

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
The platform was pretty small, so Paco took advantage of the close quarters to dip her over the edge and give her a kiss.

"Make-out session down by the pool?" he said, grinning and pointing at the hole in the wall that had just opened up inside the grandfather clock. "I think it's even Stacy-free down there."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-16 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Kate was briefly surprised and then pleased as she kissed him back.

"Mmm... sounds like fun."

[identity profile] flunkingspanish.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Ladies first," Paco said, gesturing toward the passage way. "Watch your step, it's a bit slippery."

---

An hour or so later (who could tell on this weird-ass ship anyway?), Paco and Kate exited the clock house, the former looking quite pleased with himself indeed.

"Hmmm," he said, tapping his finger against his chin. "Where to next..."

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Kate was currently trying to squeeze the water out of her hair.

"How about somewhere there's towels?"
