Get you Gone

The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Obi-Wan shook his head at the passing out of guns, "None for me, thank you."

and he turned away, muttering to himself, "So uncivilized."

The red head passing him snorted at his mumblings. "Uncivilized? You're going to pass up a useful weapon because of your image? These have their uses, but they're not perfect." Mara tapped at the light saber hanging at her waist. She fully intended to pick up a blaster. Or two.

"I'm not above using one, when it's necessary," Obi-Wan replied mildly, "But if I'm defending a large, unruly target, I believe my other skills will be better use."

He turned his too-bland diplomat's smile on her, gesturing with one hand, reasonably, "Of course if I were attacking, rather than merely defending, as you are, then you would certainly be right. At any rate, I'm no sharpshooter."

"I'm going into an unknown situation. I'm covering all of the bases. I'd think a Jedi would plan the same way." Bland smiles and reasonable tones didn't do much to improve Mara's view of his attitude.

He nodded, respectfully, giving up on any semblance of trying to find her good side. Obi-Wan was just trying to keep her from getting angry as he replied smoothly, "I must defer to your skill, then. Good luck, and may the Force be with you."

"Skywalker must have missed the bit of training about backing away from the slightest difference of opinions." Mara shrugged, turning away. If she wanted an actual conversation, she'd probably have to find Luke.

"We can't all use the Force," says the tall guy who already has four guns, for which he is restocking ammo.

For all his flippancy, the smile he gives Obi-Wan in greeting is unusually grim.
