Get you Gone

The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

It got a grimace out of Dick, then a sigh. "He's still family." Which was why Dick had fought to keep him from going down for the Yeerk thing. "He has his issues, which aren't mine to divulge. But I'm not going to let him think that we've just gone and forgotten him because he's in jail. I didn't do that to Tim, I'd never do that to Batman or McGinnis. I'm not going to do it to Jason, either."

There were other reasons behind it. But, as he said, they weren't his to talk about. Not to outsiders, at least.

It's not like Leon has time to get into that right now anyway. But the kid shoots Dick in the leg, when he could've easily done worse, surrenders himself for it without a fight later, and while he hasn't been a model prisoner, he hasn't caused a whole lot of trouble either, which Leon would bet had a lot to do with Dick visiting him.

So why shoot a member of the 'family' to begin with?

Dick shrugs, then nods. "It's entirely possible, yeah." It was more than possible, actually, but no way he's confirming that.

There was a brief look, in which Leon did not say how messed up he thought Dick's family was.

"Let me ask you this... we obviously need all the help we can get. So if I let Jason loose, how much am I going to regret it?"

Hell, he doesn't have to say it. It's not like Dick doesn't KNOW how messed up his family is.

Dick considers that for a moment. Because it warrants serious consideration. "He's a good fighter and we're going to need all the help we can get. He's not going to go after me again." He doesn't think so, at least. "Push comes to shove? He doesn't want to die any more than the rest of us."
