The Call

Jaime Reyes voice sounds over the comm-rings--all of them--and it sounds very urgent.

« Everyone on the ship, listen up! This is Jaime Reyes, your local 'Blowing this pop stand' coordinator and escape facilitation engineer. I need everyone on the ship to come to the City, in front of the Precinct, immediately. Grab people who don't have their comm rings with them--and tell them to grab their comm rings, people who are sleeping, whoever you find, and try to make sure everyone on the ship knows to come. This is very important. This is "getting the heck out of here" important. »

When they arrive, they arrive to find the Command Staff waiting, and a tiny, tiny young man standing on stone ledge from a fountain, waiting for them.

Here goes nothing.

Sheik is standing off to one side, watching the people volunteering, an expression on his face akin to someone arguing with themselves.

Which, to be rather literal, he is.

[Absolutely not! It's far too dangerous - I refuse to put you in that sort of danger. They will have no idea what they are facing!]

[But we can help! We can get through and fight and... you're agile, you're adaptable, you can use those weapons...]

[There are many others who can do that as well. We are not necessary.]

An angry silence.

[We have to help. We have to!]

[It's too dangerous. Let them risk their lives - you must be kept out of danger.]

[It will be dangerous, yes. But Sheik, I can heal. What if people die because they did not have a healer?]

Another silence, somewhat less angry.

[What if something happens to you?] he asks almost pleadingly, [If you die, Hyrule dies. Link cannot do it without you - you are too important. If it was just myself, then perhaps, but I won't risk you.]

[There will be danger where ever we are, here - would you not rather do something instead of sit and wait? If you do not volunteer...] Zelda's voice is almost pensive, but there's an edge to it. [If you do not volunteer, then I shall do so for you.]

[...You wouldn't dare.]

[I would. You know I would, Sheik. This is too important to ignore.]

[...]

[I am sorry, but... if you volunteer yourself, you will, at least, keep my presence hidden. At least, until they need a healer, in which case... well.] There's a very slight smile in her voice. [In which case, it is probably useless keeping myself hidden.]

[...Fine.]

Finally, Sheik steps forward, raising one hand almost tentatively. "I volunteer."

[Thank you, Sheik.]

((OOC: Er, that got sorta... insanely long, sorry!))

Sokka stepped forward, arms crossed stubbornly.

"If Katara is going, you're not keeping me away."

Mei Ling was nervous; she almost didn't want to go through what she was about to do. She could have backed out. She didn't have to say anything...

"I want to go," she half blurted out. Oops, did she just say that? Deep breaths, Mei Ling. She tried to conjure up a grin. That half worked.

"You'll need someone to make sure communications are working properly."

There, she said it. Breath...

"I'll need one of those wicked suits. I'll help make sure the techies make it through all right, yo," Dark Smoke Puncher said. Also so he could be close in case they needed help just beyond a bodyguard.

"I'll come too!" Dani said, raising her hand, floating into the air to be sure she was seen as volunteering.

So what if she was a kid? She had ghost powers.

Dani looked at Danny, surprised a few moments before she gives him a defiant look. "Yes. I will."

"No, you're going to stay here where it's relatively safe."

"Just because you're stronger doesn't mean you get to decide what I do. Besides, I'm the one who was actually TAUGHT how to be sneaky and has had PRACTICE, even without ghost powers," Dani said, crossing her arms, still looking at him defiantly. "I'm going and there's nothing you can do to stop me.'

Argh! Why did she have to have his stubbornness?

"Alright, fine." Danny grumbled. "But you're going to have to stick close to me."

Mara's fingers brushed against her light saber, watching the motley group that was forming up. They were going to need someone with experience with infiltration and slicing, that much was clear. She actually surprised herself when she joined in with, "I'm going."

Bart had run off for an extremely fast snack in the Sensorium. When he came back, people were forming groups.

"I'minI'minI'min!" he shouted, running to the GTFO group. "You guys need a speedster."

If Mara was in, Luke was in. He'd have gone anyway, but he felt compelled to watch over her. He'd already lost her once; he wouldn't let it happen again if he could help it. Besides, he wasn't that bad in a fight.

"I'm in," he called out.

"I will be going." Sheeana appears in the crowd of volunteers as if from nowhere. She tinges the statement with Voice, just to be sure of approval.

Holly looked around at some of the people volunteering for the job. There sure were a lot of kids.

"I'm in, too." She said. And while she didn't say it out loud, she was thinking that the group needed some more professionals.

"I vill go."
And a tiny, amused smirk appears on his faceplate.

"Kudos on the deference, buddy. Count me in, too. The line-of-danger thing doesn't thrill me, but there are things need hacking."

And far be it from Allen not to get a chance to learn more about this meatbucket.

"You guys are pretty hopeless sometimes, so I'll come with you and help make sure you don't screw everything up."

Yes, Jack's coming with you guys.
