The Call

Jaime Reyes voice sounds over the comm-rings--all of them--and it sounds very urgent.

« Everyone on the ship, listen up! This is Jaime Reyes, your local 'Blowing this pop stand' coordinator and escape facilitation engineer. I need everyone on the ship to come to the City, in front of the Precinct, immediately. Grab people who don't have their comm rings with them--and tell them to grab their comm rings, people who are sleeping, whoever you find, and try to make sure everyone on the ship knows to come. This is very important. This is "getting the heck out of here" important. »

When they arrive, they arrive to find the Command Staff waiting, and a tiny, tiny young man standing on stone ledge from a fountain, waiting for them.

Here goes nothing.

"Ovid. That's all I'm saying." Static laughed. "Well, your dad does a good job. From what I understand, he had to keep watch over quite the slug fest." Static smiled at his pun. He'd been on the ship for a few days now, and this was his first pun. Maybe he was finally adapting...

Or, he's just that guy. "And there's nothing wrong with having pets. I'm more of a dog person, but hey, if cats are your style, go for it. I fully expect to be a crazy old man with, like, fourteen dogs."

Did he just make a pun? He did, didn't he? A Dad-level, groan-worthy pun. Sherry palmed her face and shook her head. "I bet you and Dad would both get along well; he makes puns, too." Really, really bad ones.

"There are a couple of dogs around here, actually," Sherry perked up. "Bandit and An-Gwa, but I haven't seen An-Gwa around recently." Which was a shame, because she really liked that pretty dog.

"Awesome. This place needs more four-legged friends. I could never have a dog as a kid,'cause our place was too small, but I was always fond of 'em. I take it your a dog person too?"

"When they're not trying to eat me, yes." Thankfully, she'd yet to encounter zombie dogs interested in eating her face on the ship. Stacy was strange, but she wasn't cruel. "Bandit can talk, sort of, in very simple sentences."

"That's awesome. The world needs more talking dogs." Static slapped his hands down on his legs, then stood up. "Welp, if it's all the same to you, Sherry, I'm gonna scoot. There's a whooole lotta people here, and I think I've met, oh, maybe ten of 'em so far? I need to get back out there and figure out what's what."

He bowed. It was a mock-bow, really, with the hand extended and everything. He smiled as he straightened back up. "I'll catch ya around, 'kay?"

"Okay!" Sherry agreed and nodded. She'd bow, but it would hurt, and Sherry wasn't up for explaining to the medical staff how she managed to wound herself by saying goodbye to someone. "See you later, Static. Maybe when I'm better."
