Command Meeting [Closed to Command Staff]
After taking some much needed time to rest, collect their thoughts, gather information, plan, and work out the logistics of said plans, the Command Staff finally convened down in the city in the Basilica of St. Peter. The Vatican had served well as their meeting place before, so it made perfect sense to use it again. It was obviously large enough to house them all, and it was also quiet, since it seemed that the changes that had been made to the structure by a certain crew mate had led many crew members to avoid it.
There was much to be discussed. The fall-out from the battle over the Yeerk, what to do with the prisoners being held in the precinct, and--most importantly--the up-coming effort to breach Stacy's barriers, open up more of the ship, and deal with what lay in wait there.

"Well, hot damn," Sawyer chimes in from his seat. There's a big grin on his face. A big pleased grin. And it's directed at the Chief and--oddly--Jaime. "Somebody finally gets it. And here I was startin' to think I was the only non-idiot on this little love cruise."

He then said, "We need to get off of this ship, but we can't do it without everybody cooperating. Otherwise these fights and arguments are going to keep happening. We'll focus on the mission first. Give us time to get something better together, and conduct a formal presentation then."

"This 'Great Purpose' we seem to have been called for needs to be taken seriously. It is my belief that we need to focus on seeing it through, perhaps even more than we need to focus on returning to our homes." He paused a moment, taking in a breath and calming himself before continuing. "Q was worried when he came here and spoke to us-- to me. If something has Q worried, then it needs to be taken seriously. The Q as a whole are nigh-omnipotent, able to shape reality as they will, wandering space and the dimensions merely out of a sense of ennui and boredom. If something can worry a being to whom reality is but a plaything, this is a very serious threat.
"Right now, the Q Continuum seems satisfied with this vessel and its crew crossing realities. While Stacy's lack of answers are hardly a comfort, the mission we are chosen for seems genuine, and if these reports and theories are accurate, then control of the bridge may give us not only the answers we seek, but also the control and tools we require to see such a mission through to the end."
His face darkened, having had experience with this kind of mission before (several times over, at that). "What we're facing here is most likely a threat to the entire multiverse. That cannot be overstated."

He gave Jaime a nod and a tight smile - he's still got a lot to deal with. He listened to Picard, jaw clenched, "...as much as I hate to, I have to agree. If beings with the power to alter the very laws of reality as we know it are worried, then we may have no choice but to see this through to the end, regardless of our own wishes to the contrary. Which is not to say that if we find some way of going home, we will force people to stay on. I'm not about to do that - but I for one intend to stay and fight. I'll be damned if I run away from this now."

He adds, "If we can get folks home, though, and can control the ship, one good thing we have to keep in mind is then we'd be able to call for reinforcements, if there's a genuine threat to face. My world has plenty of people that know how to deal with universal or multiversal threats, and so do many others. If there is a genuine problem, if we pull off getting folks that want to go home, home, we ought to aim for backup--if at all possible."

"Is there any other business left to discuss?"
