Welcome, All Ye Magickians [Open]
Though he hadn't made any formal statements yet, Aibghalien made no secret of the fact that he intended to propose moving the Magic Department's headquarters to this building. As elegant and useful as the Jedi Temple was, he still had no idea what a Jedi was nor how it related to magic or the supernatural. But this building... This building was built for magic.
Already he found more and more excuses to come here, to the point that his old office and lab were practically abandoned these days. So a person who had interest in joining the department, or who simply wished to consult with him on a matter of magic, could find him there most readily, doing paperwork at his desk or examining some curious item to figure out what made it tick.
[Especially for new crew members interested in joining the department, but open to all!]

nerdscholar mode as she folds her arms."Black magic pulls power from demons and negative emotions, and has your curses and summons and a lot of stuff for dishing out a world of hurt. Shamanism is the general elemental stuff - air, earth, fire, water, and spirit. White magic pulls power from the gods, and has a lot of healing spells, effect-changing spells, and spells for dealing with evil spirits and demons. Cleric and shrine maiden stuff."

Thus it was that eight foot tall alien warrior clad in his well kept combat harness ducked through the door to the Wizard's current place of study, stepping towards the wizard seemingly deep in study, "Aibghalien Marsai, I presume," He spoke up by way of greetings.

"I will admit that I have little understanding of magic, nor would I have considered such a thing were it not for our current situation, such is the reason for my visit. I hope that I did not greatly disturb your studies" He went on with a calm if a hint of a wry tone, "To properly aid in the command of this vessel I need to know what those under my command are capable of. I wish to know the capabilities of the department and those who work with it,"

"I never understood that, to be honest -- given the absolutely amazing things science has accomplished simply by exploring the nature of matter and energy, why is it so shocking to discover that an energy field exists which can be manipulated according to specific rules to accomplish specific results?" That was an honest question, asked even as he beckoned a hand to a nearby bookshelf. A book popped free from said shelf, floating over to the wizard as he spoke.

"That an energy field could exist, no, that one can manipulate it without technological aid is a separate matter entirely. Many things have been made possible via use of such technology, however none have achieved such things without technological aid. Thus it goes beyond normal understanding when one such as yourself can perform such deeds with but a gesture," He explained calmly gesturing to the book that now floated its way over to the wizard.

"Tell me what you can then, of your own capabilities and of the capabilities of those who make up your department,"

It was not long before he had made his way through to the stores in which the magical items found within the tower and elsewhere on board were currently being stored and it was there that the resident wizard would likely come across the dragon, though he had not come without something to add to the gathered collection. A number of items of varying power lay within a pack that he had brought with him, all items that had no great immediate use for he himself, but had the potential to benefit others.

In this case, he was examining two lances; one shining silver, one a darker reddish hue. Such weapons were entirely unknown to Cerilia, and their purpose thus entirely foreign to Aibghalien, but Bight could surely recognize a dragonlance, and its malefic counterpart, readily enough.

Shaking his head slowly as he stepped over to the wizard examining the lances in question, "You need not look further for what they are. They are a Dragonlance and an Abyssal lance, weapons made solely for the purpose of combat against dragon kind,"

"Dragonlances are no normal weapon in construction or enchantment, the dragonlance before you is constructed and shaped from pure dragonmetal and required the use of two artifacts, the Silver arm of Ergoth and the Hammer of Kharas, forged under divine instruction,"
"The Abyssal lance is a perversion of the concept, turned to darkness, constructed from dragonmetal and tainted via a foul ritual given by the Dark Queen," He cast a look of disgust toward the weapon in question, a ritual that had required the blood of a metallic dragon to create.

"Nevertheless, perhaps you can be of assistance, Aibghalien, I am in search of a particular manner of item, one that may may provide a ward against even significantly powerful flame. I do not come empty handed however," With a slight motion of his shoulder he slid the bag that had been hanging over his shoulder, "A number of items that may prove useful to the department and crew,"
no subject
Even as he spoke, he looked curiously at the bag.
