Zouichi, for once, wasn't in the City on patrol. Instead, he was making a systematic search of the city's streets, looking for telltale stray robot parts that might lead him to what he was looking for. Unfortunately, during SHODAN's attack, not all of the crew (except him! okay not really) had been terribly judicious about the property damage they were inflicting on the nearby buildings.

So there was rubble everywhere. Oops.

But it had been in the middle of a robot attack, right? Sometimes you needed to break a few eggs to make an omelet, right? RIGHT.

[This is the log for searching for robot parts and a SUPER SECRET ENGINEERING PROJECT okay it's not that secret but IT SORT OF IS. Feel free to have someone try and peek in on the Engineering thread and have Lash furtively cover her test paper.]

Diana had been walking back towards Jinx’s apartment after doing a shift at Mindys First Tree Café when she saw Zouichi picking through rubble.

Odd, he didn’t seem the scavenging type. Then again, he hung out with Howard, Lord knows what too much exposure to that particular ball of happiness could do to a person.

Smirking, Diana approaches. “Long time no see.”

Something sits on her shoulder, resting in the crook of her neck and hiding itself in the shadows of her long, curtaining dark hair.

Zouichi looked up, spotted Diana, and gave her a brief wave. "Yeah, I guess so. How have you been doing?"

He tilted his head curiously toward whatever it was hiding in her hair. An animal?

"I've been keeping busy. Wouldn't want traveling through space to get boring, would we?" Her expression is playful as she says that. "And you?"

The sleek black head of a crow peers out of Diana's hair to get a look at Zouichi, before hiding itself again.

Diana cocks her eyebrow at Zouichi's puzzlement before noticing where he's looking and she smirks even more. "Curious about something?"

"Oh, you know. Never any rest. Besides, after that last stunt the Daligig pulled, half the people at my place had something or other broken."

Zouichi blinked in surprise as he spotted the crow, then took a couple steps forward, practically beaming at the crow. "Hey, is that the little baby from before? His feathers have really come in nicely."

“How is Howard? Last time I went to check he was being rather grumpy.”

“Yep. This is Pro.” Diana tossed her hair back, revealing the black corvid perched on her shoulder. The little squawking blob of pink skin has changed significantly over the course of a few months, now fully feathered in deep black and blue plumage and actually looking the typical size for a crow. But the way he wobbles on unsteady legs as he tries to remain balanced coupled with his still blue tinged eyes and pink cornered mouth indicate he’s still more a fledgling than an adolescent.

The bird tilts its head curiously at Zouichi then lets out a harsh 'krawk' when he come close to Diana, while Diana herself looks amused at the older guys intrigue.

“How’s your feathered buddy? Alan, was it?”

Jamie is heading back towards his house when he spots a familiar figure nosing about, poking through bits of rubble. Well, that's a wee bit odd. Making up his mind to try and figure out what's going on, he picks up his pace, jogging over so he can catch up. He winds up peering over Zouichi's shoulder, slightly out of breath but still just as curious as he was a few minutes earlier.

"Hey, what are ye doing?"

Zouichi looked up as Jamie called out, raising one hand in a brief wave. Of course, Lash had wanted to keep this sort of thing as hush-hush as possible, but he saw no real reason to keep Jamie out of the loop.

"Trying to find bits and pieces of SHODAN's old technology. I figured I'd have better luck sorting through rubble that hasn't been swept up yet."

"Oh, aye. Ye might, at that." Heaven knows there were bits and pieces of the robots around everywhere after the fight, and even with the cleaning up and scavenging that's already taken place there's likely still a fair amount of them left to find.

"Would ye like a hand? There's a few spots that I'd meant to take a look at anyway to see if there was anything useful."

And make sure were free of leftover Dalek bits, on the off chance Victoria happened across them.

Zouichi smiled. "Sure, if no one's going to miss you." After all, he wouldn't want to keep Jamie if, say, someone named Victoria was waiting for him to get back.

"It's surprising how much got destroyed during the attack. Although I guess some of the damage happened earlier."

"Aye, well, last I knew Victoria was going to go down to the TARDIS for a wee bit, so she'll not be back just yet."

After all, there were still things there that could be brought back, if she wants to do so. And as much as he wants to spend time with her, sitting in the corridor outside her old room waiting for her to get done would get very boring very fast. Searching for robot pieces is much better.

"Well, when you've things like Daleks about, it's not so surprising. Although I'll not say you're wrong. There's been fights in the city quite often since I've been awake." He heads down an alleyway, towards a section he's fairly certain no one's gotten to just yet. "Are there any parts in particular ye need me to keep an eye out for?"

It's Howard's first day back on the job. He still hasn't had the heart to go work another medical shift yet, and thankfully Medical's been slow enough that they haven't needed to call him in, but it's about time he gets back in the saddle. And right now that means scavenging for parts in a building ruined in SHODAN's attacks.

He hears someone approaching and pops his head up from the hole under the rubble he's excavating. "Zou? Don't you know this is my turf?"

"What, are you going to kick me out?" He wasn't sure if Howard was joking or not, but either way the idea of a pile of rubble being someone's turf was a little strange.

"Yes. I'll have you hanged and gartered for trespassing." He wriggles out of the little hole he's in and pushes a length of copper wire ahead of him, winking. "What's up? Am I rubbing off on you?"

"Gartered? Isn't hanging bad enough?"

"I'm looking for remains from that battle with SHODAN. There should be enough lying around, even with what cleanup took place." He motioned to Howard's wire. "Doing some stripping?"

"What?" Howard appears completely oblivious to how he's managed to trainwreck three common phrases all at the same time with that hanged and gartered comment.

"I got some of the remains at the Warehouse, if you want to dig through them. And yeah, figure it's about time I actually get out of bed and stop staring at the ceiling. The cats were starting to treat me like furniture."

John Crichton wouldn't be surprised if most of this junk was because of Zouichi. He'd only gotten a front row seat to how good the guy was at taking down these things.

He'd watched for a few seconds as Zouichi picked his way through the stuff before he wandered over. "Need another pair of arms on that?"

Compared to wandering around inside Stacy's guts, picking up robot scrap sounded almost like a holiday. At least you could do it and not get hit with ship body fluids. John liked to say he was a big positive thinker on that front.

Zouichi turned, gave John a little wave. "Sure, if you've got the time. I'm afraid it's not going to be particularly exciting work, though. Just sorting through the rubble SHODAN left behind."

Although on the other hand, it was also nice and mindless.

"So long they don't shooting back, I think I'll make it," John said with a snort. Not that there couldn't be anything still live, but overall he thought they had good odds. "How've you been, man?"

John bent to pick up a foot long splinter of metal, then what looked like some sort of data pack that might've been once slotted somewhere. He almost felt like they should've raided a Target so they could steal the shopping carts for this. That's what Stacy was missing: shopping carts.

Zouichi smiled. "Well, I got to take a piece out of Yavek. So I'd say I've been doing pretty well." Never mind the injuries he'd sustained from the Kessek. WORTH IT.

He fished what looked like a miniature transistor out from a pile of of loose gears and gravel. "What about you? You're looking well enough."

ENGINEERING

At the end of the day, a fairly sizable pile of parts was piled up on a workbench in Engineering. Many of them were fragments of a depowering device, although some were leftover robot parts that had been picked up at the same time, like a chunk of Dalek and a Terminator skull that would make an excellent paperweight.
[Open to the people in Engineering who are going to be reverse-engineering the depowering equipment. Also open to anyone barging in who wants to know what they're working on and is trying to sneak a peek.]

"Hey check this out!" Lash told the others as they worked, grabbing a Terminator skull, and using her hands to make the bottom part move.

"Bzzz my name is Jugger and my CPU indicates that my status is currently dead." She let out a laugh, before jolting down notes with her other hand at the same time. "Tee hee hee! Aww you guys should laugh a bit more, you know?"

Ronnae covered her mouth and laughed, shaking her head as she fiddled with some of the pieces on her desk as she jotted down notes almost as if she wasn't even looking at them, her hand working on it's own while she concentrated on various things at once.

"I'm fairly sure it would liven things up and boost production. I mean, a healthy mind is better than a troubled one, so I'll agree with Lash on the laughing part."

Billy rolled his eyes, shifting a Dalek's eyestalk out of his way. Sadly, it would not make an excellent plunger.

"We'll have time to be playful soon, won't we? When this is done, we'll be in control for once...well, as in control as we can ever hope to be around here."

Zouichi snorted at Lash's antics, obviously trying not to laugh. "I thought you might like that one. Anyway, let me know if you need anything else. I thought the people running cleanup might have swept up some pieces by accident, but there was still a lot of rubble left."
