Rust in Peace [Open]

Zouichi, for once, wasn't in the City on patrol. Instead, he was making a systematic search of the city's streets, looking for telltale stray robot parts that might lead him to what he was looking for. Unfortunately, during SHODAN's attack, not all of the crew (except him! okay not really) had been terribly judicious about the property damage they were inflicting on the nearby buildings.

So there was rubble everywhere. Oops.

But it had been in the middle of a robot attack, right? Sometimes you needed to break a few eggs to make an omelet, right? RIGHT.

[This is the log for searching for robot parts and a SUPER SECRET ENGINEERING PROJECT okay it's not that secret but IT SORT OF IS. Feel free to have someone try and peek in on the Engineering thread and have Lash furtively cover her test paper.]

"Oh, aye. Ye might, at that." Heaven knows there were bits and pieces of the robots around everywhere after the fight, and even with the cleaning up and scavenging that's already taken place there's likely still a fair amount of them left to find.

"Would ye like a hand? There's a few spots that I'd meant to take a look at anyway to see if there was anything useful."

And make sure were free of leftover Dalek bits, on the off chance Victoria happened across them.

Zouichi smiled. "Sure, if no one's going to miss you." After all, he wouldn't want to keep Jamie if, say, someone named Victoria was waiting for him to get back.

"It's surprising how much got destroyed during the attack. Although I guess some of the damage happened earlier."

[bonnypiperlad]

"Aye, well, last I knew Victoria was going to go down to the TARDIS for a wee bit, so she'll not be back just yet."

After all, there were still things there that could be brought back, if she wants to do so. And as much as he wants to spend time with her, sitting in the corridor outside her old room waiting for her to get done would get very boring very fast. Searching for robot pieces is much better.

"Well, when you've things like Daleks about, it's not so surprising. Although I'll not say you're wrong. There's been fights in the city quite often since I've been awake." He heads down an alleyway, towards a section he's fairly certain no one's gotten to just yet. "Are there any parts in particular ye need me to keep an eye out for?"

He nodded. Jamie was the responsible sort, anyway (as far as he could tell). And if Victoria did happen across them, Zouichi could always apologizing for keeping Jamie.

"Well, anything that might be of use, really. A piece of a power dampening device would be a real prize, but Engineering could also use power supplies, memory chips, processors -- that kind of thing." Zouichi sifted through some more junk, examined a burnt-out subprocessor, then tossed it aside. "Hopefully something not too damaged."

So things like that severed arm from the battle droid wouldn't be of much use, but maybe if it's one of those tougher ones there might be enough intact to be of use. Jamie nods, picking his way over the pile of rubble towards it. "Aye, I'll keep an eye out. The power dampening device I saw was in another part of the ship, but maybe there's something around here too."

His search doesn't turn up anything like that, but he does manage to find a relatively intact processing unit from the droid. However, he's not quite sure if it's salvageable or not - even with the training he's had so far, he's a long way from being able to tell that sort of thing at a glance. There's a long pause (and a frown) as he studies it for few moments before giving up and going over to ask.

"Hey, take a look at this. Think we can use any of it for parts?"

[zouichi]

Zouichi gave him a humorless smile. "In the Pod Caverns, maybe? I figured I'd start here, since there were quite a few devices covering the City. Should have picked those things up back when the attacks were still going on, I guess."

He took the processing unit, looking it over before giving it back to Jamie. "I'd say it's worth a shot. Hard to tell exactly how damaged it is just from a visual inspection." Then he motioned to a small pile of salvaged parts nearby, where he'd been picking out the more intact pieces and putting them aside. "But that's Engineering's headache. Even if they can't use something as-is, it might have useful components that can be recycled."
