Portal network initiations [Open]
Celena had been moving at a near non-stop pace for the last few weeks, when the shore leave had rocked around she had increased the pace again, dividing some of her time away from the reconstruction to collect a significant amount of supplies from the planet below as well as to monitor the situation with the potential rebellion.
Now however she was focused on the opportunity that she had been waiting for, the initiation of the Gateway network that would aid with transportation throughout the ship. At that current moment she looked over each of the ten gates that would form the initial network, checking over each gateway device in turn. Each device looking near identical to her initial Gateway pair, the smooth grey base plates inlaid with the crystals that would power them. The gate crystals of each spinning idly in a tight vertical circle above an indentation in the base plate below. To the right of each a holographic display panel projected from a raised pillar off to the side of the base showed the status of each of gate in question, and once connected would allow crew members to select the gate to which they wished to travel.
With checks underway she waited for others to show up and to wait for Rhiow, ready to assist with the construction of the Catenary should she be required.

She waved when she spotted the red dragon, looking over the Gateway devices with keen interest. The setup looked mostly like one would expect from a transporter gate, but the crystals gave it a magical sort of appearance. "Hello, Vantari-san! My goodness, this looks very sophisticated."

Looking up though as Fuu approached she lifted a wing in a returned wave of sorts, "Greetings, indeed, the gateway network all ready to be connected," she replied as she cast a glance over all the gates present.

She sniffed at the gateways, circling around them and examining the hyperstring structure - visible to Rhiow's eyes as a feline wizard, but difficult to perceive for anyone else. She had a spell tucked away in the corner of her mind to solve that particular problem.
Re: do want edit button
She watched the feline wizard with interest as she sniffed about the gates knowing that she was observing the greater detail invisible to what others could observe.

Which probably meant that before this was over, Rhiow would have to correct a few that had paired off and didn't want to be braided into the wider network. "Brilliant work. On my world Gates are a naturally occurring phenomenon - to my knowledge nobody's ever created a synthetic substitute before."
no subject
"Thank you, it did take a considerable time to develop and construct the initial pair, the basis though is derived from similar gates that my own people make use of," She explained with a nod as she peered between each of the gates both with true sight to observe the waiting energies of each gate.
"Whenever you're ready, we can get to work,"

She reached down into her claudication, a pocket of space just to left of reality. To Celena, her foreleg would disappear into nothing and then come out with a bundle of shining gold. Rhiow tugged at it with her paws and teeth, spreading it out across the open space in the middle of the gates. When she was finished laying it out, the diagram looked something like a figure eight with one circle inscribed in the center and another circle bounding the whole thing in. "It's been a while since I've worked with you in a spell, so I'll need you to check over your Name. Even though you don't really know Speech, it should instinctively feel right, or feel like you." She pointed her tail at the top section of the figure-eight, at the long trail of Speech characters there.
"This spell will let you see and manipulate the strings the way I see them. For now it's temporary, but I'm going to work on embedding a permanent version here."
no subject
"Indeed, I gather your spells must be quite precise in the naming of objects and people?" she asked as she looked over the characters in question the name in question feeling somehow right despite not being able to read it properly, dipping her head, "Interesting, but it does indeed,"
"That would be quite useful indeed, though my own true sight allows me to observe and better manipulate the flows of energy in the world it does not allow me to see the strings as you do in this particular matter,"

Luckily for them both, he was elven, immortal and ageless, and so a few days or even a couple of weeks of his partner devoting her attention elsewhere weren't enough to bother him. But it was an interesting state of affairs, which brought an interesting perspective.
He dropped out of the sky, draconically, to land nearby, but spared only a moment of time for a fond touch of his head against hers before he assumed his natural form once again. He needed his full magical faculties at his fingertips for this experiment.
"So much external support," he mused. "I have yet to accustom myself to that aspect of technology, even now."

Her smile brightened only greater when she returned that found touch of her head back against his own, though their projects at times took up much of their individual times Celena always enjoyed the moments they could take that much more.
Celena chuckled at his comment, "Indeed, it does allow for greater understanding and ease of use though, especially for those who have little understanding of the inner workings of the devices,"
no subject
"The advantage of technology is interoperability," he said. "I don't think I have three total people in the Magic Department who have compatible methods of casting, so I freely admit you have the advantage of me here."
no subject
"Very much so, to be able to allow even the most inexperienced operator to utilize without too much difficulty is a particularly useful aspect to technology and yet some devices can be as complex and intricate as the workings of magic," she replied with obvious interest in the subject, "The variety of magic and its manipulation on board does give us many different possible approaches however to a solution,"

Luckily, she had actually been busy cleaning up both the W.I.T.C.H bus and the Outsider's hotel in preparation for their use later, so it wasn't too hard to find Celena.
"How's it looking?"
no subject
"Everything is ready to go for the initial connections, then will need to test the links but I don't foresee any great issues there," She replied cheerfully, even more so than usual, a project nearly complete did have the dragon somewhat excited after all, despite happenings aboard the ship.
no subject
"Who came up with this idea anyway?"
no subject
"They will, I hope, provide a stable and rapid manner of transport throughout the ship, whether of individuals or the even the transport of supplies,"
no subject
Specifically, she was thinking about a certain ghost phantom who had yet to be found.
"How can I help?"

She pondered a moment, "With a portable gate that could be possible as well, to be able to take it further into unexplored regions while maintaining the ability to return swiftly,"
"If you could watch the three gates there, keep an eye on the readouts for the moment, the power levels of those should rise shortly, let me know if any of them seem to remain unstable,"

Of those, he was best equipped to work. That brought him here, his usual backpack slung over his shoulder.
"Where can I help?"

"If you can check the status and monitor the readings of the far gates that would be of great use once the connection is formed, as we'll need to check the connection of each and make sure there are no great abnormalities in power draw,"
no subject
I've got an initial reading at baseline. Everything's normal. When's the connection coming online?
no subject
With but a thought, without the use of her comm ring Celena replied in turn The connection should come online in a few short moments. There should be a fluctuation then should steady at a higher power rate, that will signify connection to the network.

Billy watched the screen eagerly, waiting for the telltale signs of connection. He crossed his fingers, hoping for a successful test. This project was too important to fail.
