Portal network initiations [Open]

Celena had been moving at a near non-stop pace for the last few weeks, when the shore leave had rocked around she had increased the pace again, dividing some of her time away from the reconstruction to collect a significant amount of supplies from the planet below as well as to monitor the situation with the potential rebellion.

Now however she was focused on the opportunity that she had been waiting for, the initiation of the Gateway network that would aid with transportation throughout the ship. At that current moment she looked over each of the ten gates that would form the initial network, checking over each gateway device in turn. Each device looking near identical to her initial Gateway pair, the smooth grey base plates inlaid with the crystals that would power them. The gate crystals of each spinning idly in a tight vertical circle above an indentation in the base plate below. To the right of each a holographic display panel projected from a raised pillar off to the side of the base showed the status of each of gate in question, and once connected would allow crew members to select the gate to which they wished to travel.

With checks underway she waited for others to show up and to wait for Rhiow, ready to assist with the construction of the Catenary should she be required.

"Any time," Billy smiled right back at her, dusting off his sleeve. Oh, there was so much to do!

"Is there anything else I can do for you today, or is everything good?"

Celena dipped her head with a smile, there was much to do indeed.

"I will continue to link the remaining portals, though there is a task or two for Engineering that you may be able to assist with," Celena commented before gesturing to the gates.

"I have the magical department lending aid, but engineering support would also be appreciated, the structure that powers the gates and that will connect them while in the bleed will need additional shielding in its area. Both conventional and magical shielding should help lessen the effect in the worst case of a critical destabilisation of the structure in question,"

"Also, it is something that I have been meaning to check in on, but since the Shodan attack, has the Engineering department looked into perhaps reverse engineering the power dampers? If we can develop a counter to such things it would provide great protection for the gates, teleporters and shelters, preventing them from being taken offline in that manner,"

Billy dipped his head in thought. Admittedly he'd preferred to forget about that disaster, but...

"We'll support you. And we'll work on those dampers too. I knew I'd forgotten something." He shrugged apologetically. "I'm sorry. That's going right on our to-do log."

Celena stepped on through the portal interface and back over to the side that Billy now stood on. Touching a control the interface dispersed and cleared, the glow of the crystals fading as they span down.

"Thank you, it would be greatly appreciated," She smiled warmly before putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry about it, I know you've been near run off your feet lately as well. Keep me posted on progress, I'll see what I can do to assist as well,"

Billy would, of course. He smiled gratefully at her, looking down to ensure the findings were safe and secure.

"Thank you. I'll be back around takeoff, all right?"

Celena smiled in turn warmly, she had no doubt that he would. "You are welcome, Billy. I'll leave a report of the findings and a list of maintenance methods for the networks at engineering, so that others shall be able to perform maintenance should it be needed,"

"In any event, don't forget to take some time to relax yourself while there's still a chance on the planet," she comments playfully with a chuckle. Though given the way things were going a chance to relax might not be so simple in the near future.

"Will do, on all counts," Billy promised, saluting her. "You too, right? I can take over if you need a break later on."
