Party Central? Marco was so there. And Jake was also going to be there, on account of Marco dragging him along.

The fact that most of the clubs wouldn't let Marco in because he was sixteen was a minor setback. He was seriously considering just morphing into someone over eighteen to get in, when they managed to stumble across Da Bomb. Okay, so it wasn't as awesome as Marco was sure the adult clubs would be, but it'd do.

And hey, they had things to do there. Like having fun, and seeing if he can convince Jake to actually approach some girls.

[identity profile] hadabrother.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
If anything, Jake felt out of place. He'd never really wanted all of the fame and publicity that came with being the leader that saved the world and he'd never bothered to capitalize on it. Marco had dragged him out one or two times, but he never got used to the crowds, the music or the flashing lights. For the moment, he tried to press himself back into the booth they'd found.

"...you told me I wouldn't have to dance. I'm starting to think that was a lie."

You! Me! Dancing!

Nima is all over this clubbing thing! Rooms meant strictly for dancing are a plus in most airbenders' books, and this dancing is WAY less restrained than, say, the ballrooms of Ba Sing Se, or even the passionate but precise duets of the Fire Nation.

Nima throws herself into the dancing. A lifetime of martial arts has given her a good eye for moves, and she copies the other dancers' steps easily. When she begins throwing in her own practiced airbending movements, the cooling breeze has a pleasant effect in the close quarters of active people. When the other dancers start cheering and giving her room to move, Nima indulges her vanity and shows off a bit.

No one in the crowd has perfect hair anymore by the time she's done, but at least everyone's refreshed for more dancing, right?
livestoannoy: (Blah blah blah)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-10-15 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Jake, Jake, Jake," Marco said, tutting and shaking his eye. "Would I lie to you? You don't have to dance. You'll just look completely pathetic if you don't."

He scanned the crowd, looking for a girl who was Jake's type. Which was apparently "Cassie", but failing that Marco looked around to see if he could find any girl who looked like she'd be the type to hug trees and save animals.

One girl with dark hair and an outfit that would look at home on any hippy was dancing in the crowd. "She's hot," he said casually, nodding at the girl. "You should go dance with her."

[identity profile] hadabrother.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
"I think I'll look reserved and aloof. You know, like everyone says I look," Jake replied. He could joke about that with Marco. They both knew what had happened. What sort of toll the war took. He leaned on the table and cast a glance in the girl's direction and then looked away with a shrug. Man, this took him back. Marco had already stopped trying to get him hooked up back home.

"...I don't think so. I mean... I'm not that good of a dancer anyway."

"Why did you drag me here again?"

Mai hated parties. She hated people. And she really hated dancing. Probably because her parents made her take dance lessons for ten years.

[identity profile] kungfu-sexnun.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Because this wasn't the dance-lessons kind of dance party, and Mai looked like she needed to be at one for once in her life.

"Come on, it's fun. You just need to let the music take you. What's your name again?"

She might have forgotten to ask it at all, in between seeing the girl sitting around, doing what looked suspiciously like avoiding fun, and dragging her to the club with her.
livestoannoy: (Did I mention how cute I am?)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-10-15 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, the 'playing hard to get' tactic. Except you've forgotten the vital, final part of that plan, which involves actually going out with a girl."

Over in the crowd, the girl tripped over her own feet, laughing as she stumbled. Marco snorted. "Neither is she. Besides, if you completely embarrass yourself you can always head back to the ship and pretend it never happened in the first place."

[identity profile] knifeurrib.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Mai avoided fun for fun. It was how she lived her life and she'd be damned if some Air Bender was going to break her streak of bleakness and hatred now.

"It sounds like it wants to give me a headache," Mai responded dryly, "...and my name is Mai."

[identity profile] hadabrother.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't really want to go out with a girl right now, Marco," Jake replied, "That puts another, very large kink in your cunning plan."

He watched the girl pick herself back up again and then he shrugged, "Besides... she'd probably be better off finding someone who's going to stick around for more than a couple days."

He just had to keep finding excuses.

[identity profile] kungfu-sexnun.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Aww come on. As long as you're here, don't you wanna learn some sweet new moves?"

Another woman (who appeared to have a troupe) was taking up the space Nima had cleared with her airbending. The DJ must have been expecting her, because the music changed.

" . . . like those. Those sweet new moves." Nima bounced by Mai's side, torn between wanting to get the girl to bust a move, and wanting to try to copy the lady's dancing.
livestoannoy: (Do you have a plan that's ISN'T insane?)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-10-15 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Dude, you haven't wanted to go out with a girl for there years. You are seriously past the getting-over-your-ex period, man. And who says she's looking for someone to stick around? You're just asking for a dance, not a long-term commitment."

[identity profile] knifeurrib.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't want to learn any moves."

Mai eyed the newcomer and then rolled her eyes. That reminded her a bit too much of Ty Lee and the way she teased and flirted with just about anyone.

"I don't particularly feel like showing off, if you hadn't noticed," Mai continued, lifting an arm to show off the robes she wore.

[identity profile] hadabrother.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe I just don't want to go out with anyone," Jake pointed out, "Or dance. I have other things to think about. I mean, I appreciate the thought, but... I'm really not a dancing kinda guy, Marco."
livestoannoy: (Ax they're everyone's minutes)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-10-15 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
"You think the rest of us don't have other things to worry about?" Marco pointed out. "But geez man. We're here to have some fun. The point of shore leave is to relax, not keep worrying about the war."

Worrying seemed to be something Jake did far too often.

[identity profile] kungfu-sexnun.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
"You don't need to show off, but there's GOTTA be something you want to do more than sit around. Doesn't the beat get to you? At all?"

Nima's begun dancing in place as they talk. It's not showing-off kind of dancing. The beat is just that good.

"Come on. It's fun."

[identity profile] hadabrother.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not worrying about the war. I just don't want to dance."

Technically, he wasn't worrying about it. Just thinking about it. A lot.

[identity profile] knifeurrib.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
"It makes me want to leave," Mai droned. Sorry, Nima. She's immune to most of your charms.
livestoannoy: (Sorry?)

[personal profile] livestoannoy 2011-10-15 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Fine then, you suggest something fun to do," Marco said, giving up. (Well, for now. He wasn't going to completely give up on the Get Jake A Date plan just yet.) "Because dude, if you're not dancing I'm not going to sit around and watch you be 'aloof'."

[identity profile] kungfu-sexnun.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
"But you're still here."

So she must not want to leave THAT bad! Surely!

"Come oooon. You might as well try it. Since you're here."
