Hero Time! The Land

Welcome, dear visitor, to a world consisting entirely of plastic-looking city sets. My, don't they look ready to blast apart at a moment''s notice? It's almost as if an attack is expected in this sector.

But not to worry! The 'attacks' here are just goofy entertainment. Lovably laughable employees in dull green suits may make menacing gestures at times, but they're just a nuisance. The visitors to this section are protected by the Masked Rangers, the people in heavy helmets and spandex suits you might see from time to time. The acrobat-types, the ones in the flimsy suits, perform tricky stunts and wave 'blasters' that shoot a cheap spark effect from time to time. Driver-types wear heavier armor and traverse this section of the park in their specialized motorcycles, zipping down specialized roadways seemingly from nowhere.

Other than that, the environment is fairly industrial. The main attractions are in the 'abandoned warehouse district'. It features greasy food (and surprisingly good smoothies, strangely enough), alarm bells every now and then, and the crowning ride of this sector: an exciting cart ride through the warehouses that culminates in riding atop a giant mecha. The vibrations as the mech carrying the vehicle shoots its lasers are quite unsettling the first time or two, and riding through the smoke cloud of a post-henshin explosion can cause mild fits of coughing. This adventure is not for the faint of heart.

Simpler shows are done in the park-like area, where a few of the more acrobatic employees in helmets and flimsy costumes seems to dance-fight with several of the mooks. It's a cute show, and the only exciting thing is the spread of the explosion. It shoots up in a rainbow of colors when the heroes make a pose. Games can be played here, but always be ready to clear out and make way for the heroes! A little parade of motorcycles and mecha comes through several times a day, and masked characters address the audience with well-prepared safety tips and suggestions for community service.

Gift shops in this area feature knockoff Masked Ranger costumes, transformation toys that light up, toy mecha and motorcycles that combine in many very expensive combinations, and little sparkler lights. Fortunately, actual material for an explosion is not sold.

This nonsense might feel strangely familiar...

The detective lacked enthusiasm at this prospect, shaking his head with a sigh. "I don't know..." Given how ridiculous these outfits looked and the names associated with them, there's no telling what a version of Double would be like...

Regardless, there's a Philip dragging you towards the booth. "Excuse me, can we sign up for being a mascot for a day?"

The weary looking man nodded. "Eh I guess so. Not many want the job. Report backstage. Two of you huh?"

"That's right." said Philip.

Taking their badges, Philip was grinning at the prospect of something new and exciting to learn about!

Shou stumbled along, grabbing hold of his hat out of habit. "Whoa, hey, Philip--!"

But his protests were too little, too late. Shou grabbed his badge and peered at it. "What are you getting us into, partner..."

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-10-14 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
The back was all abuzz with a lot of people running back and forth, getting ready for the next show. Philip was looking around with a child-like wonder. "Ooooh, this is so different than Fuutoic Idol!"
thisclinchesit: (Heh.)

[personal profile] thisclinchesit 2011-10-16 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Shoutarou followed after pinning his badge on, chuckling at Philip's comment. "Well, it's a rather different kind of show than a musical competition."

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Looks like it!" Philip moved through the crowd, looking for something. "Is this where we help with the suits?"

"That's right. Are you two new for today?" inquired the woman seconds before a man ran up.

"We've got a problem: the new suits aren't here!"
thisclinchesit: (Yes that is certainly something.)

[personal profile] thisclinchesit 2011-10-16 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Shoutarou merely followed, but then looked at Philip when the man gave the information. "...guess we volunteered for nothing, then." He doesn't sound very torn up about it, though.

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
"What are we going to do? The new one needs to be debuted today," mused the woman. "And we set up the two actors as well to be here and they didn't show up either!"

"Excuse me, what kind of Masked Rider are we talking about?" inquired Philip, not wanting to give up.

"Oh it's a new one, something called uh... Double-U."

A slow smile spread across Philip's face. "You don't say...?"

Shoutarou stares for a moment after the name comes out, then rubs his face. "You've got to be kidding me..."

He sighs, then reaches in his vest, and pulls out the Double Driver. "Did his belt look like this?"

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes that's it! How did you get a prop?" Then the woman blinked, her eyes growing wide as she stood up, slapping her hands on the table in shock. "You two are from Transmigration 9! The real Kamen Riders!"

"Maaa, I didn't think our reputation proceeds us. Shoutarou, let's do it then. After all, we never did disband the Kamen Singers. So we may as well do the two-in-one Masked Rider, ne?"
thisclinchesit: (Not joking)

[personal profile] thisclinchesit 2011-10-31 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Shoutarou scoffs at Philip's comment, putting the Driver to his waist. The belt materialized around him, then followed by appearing on his partner. He reaches into his vest again, pulling out the Joker Memory. "Well. We've volunteered, no turning back now, partner."

JOKER!

"I suppose not. This is exciting, isn't it? Henshin!"

There goes the memories, the folding of the belt, and the pose...

CYCLONE! JOKER!

And bam, here stands Double! "So, what kind of routine do we need to do?"

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"It would be appreciated if you did a few poses and a speech about truth and justice and being good people," said the woman. "Thank you so much for doing this!"

"Ah, this is exciting, isn't it?" grinned Philip mentally as his side flashed.

"Kinda is, now that I think about it," Shoutarou answered as he headed for the stage. As he stepped out there, music starts to play.

Once they get on stage, Shoutarou starts with the usual 'count up your sins' pose, then launches into a bit of showing off with punches and kicks.

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-11-23 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
The kids of all kinds were cheering, and even some of the parents were smiling too, happy that their children were being entertained. The announcer was describing the power of the new Masked Rider, and while some were inaccurate, it was mainly to protect identities.

"Shoutarou, let's change Memories." And the right side brought out Heat and Metal.
thisclinchesit: (HeatMetal - Michael Bay Style)

[personal profile] thisclinchesit 2011-11-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Got it--" Shoutarou answered, tugging the current pair out and replacing them.

HEAT! METAL!

The colors of their armor changed to red and silver, and Shoutarou pulls off the rod from their back, swinging it around after extending it.

...maybe even adding some low-scale fire effects to be a little more showy.

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
The kids went wild at the show, and were cheering loudly as a couple of costumed people snuck up on them. "Shoutarou, stuntmen!" exclaimed Philip.

The flames went out with one last spin as Shoutarou turned them around, drawing a breath. "...hope it's not too hard to fake this," he says quietly, going to attempt a faux strike on the closer one with their staff.

[identity profile] memory-hax.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The costumed goon reacted perfectly, being "struck" back to the cheers of the kids. Another swung his foam weapon in an overhead attack.
