GOLD PLANET

A brightly-colored 'world' of balloons, mascots, rides, and glittery lights, Gold Planet was ever loud and ever entertaining. It was home to any number of typical attractions. Haunted houses, gondola rides, the Tunnel of Love, roller coasters, funnel cake, mirror houses, tacky T-shirts, and more! Of course, there was also the ever-popular Pecoco racetrack, home to large, colorful birds that could be bet upon and ridden.

Zouichi hovered outside a large, loud, brightly lit arcade. He was supposed to meet Howard here, but it looked like no one was here yet...

"Sorry I'm late." Howard is literally jangling when he arrives. He's running ten minutes slow because he just spent half an hour breaking into the token machine, and now every pocket that wasn't already filled with knick-knacks is almost overflowing with the little gold coins. Six tokens for a round of DDR? Four for a round of Skee Ball? Yeah, right.

"I vote you win me a stuffed dinosaur, by the way. Because I totally need to carry one around all day."

"C'mon... c'mon... yes!" And Rein gleefully hugged a stuffed mascot she had won in a crane game. It looked kind of like a bunny (http://images.wikia.com/prettycure/images/4/45/PotpourriShiny.jpg) in gold but not quite.

And it was bigger than she was as she giggled, floating around happy.

"Mommy mommy look, a mascot!" exclaimed a passerby and Rein waved, mimicking the movement with the stuffed animal's hand.

Atom glanced over at Rein with her stuffed bunny, looking a little wistful. Maybe he could win one of those... although he'd never done anything like it before.

Sasami had spotted the gold bunny and recognized it from the PreDesu show on the Hero Time world. "Oh, wow, he looks so cute, even as a plushie!"

Says the girl who promptly has a bag filled with that sort of thing.

"Wow," John says. He's feeling poetic today, so he tries again: "Just...wow, they went all out, didn't they?"

He turns to see what Aeryn makes of it, her first Earth-style arcade and carnival. He hasn't been to something like this in years, even before a wormhole decided he was worth chomping on, and it's making him feel nostalgic all over again. Even got that smell of cotton candy mixed in with popcorn and let's-hope-that's-not-pee-somewhere. Even that he kinda (not really) misses, John in a better mood. It's not exactly like taking Aeryn back home, like he wants to, but it's the next closest thing and he thinks they could take a break from scoping out Stacy and looking for all the ships they could possibly run off with, if push came to shove.

John points at the arcade. "Ladies first." He offers her one of those Crichton grins, still almost boyish because the galaxy can stomp on them all they want, but they've still got nothing on the smell of funnel cakes.

Aeryn's impressed, though probably not in the way Crichton wants her to be. It's noisy, smelly, far too bright-- and is that the smell of urine behind the fortuneteller's booth? It reminds her of a few of the less refined commerce planets she's been to. She can't help but think it'd make a good place for an ambush.

She forces herself to relax. This is shore leave, and Crichton's watching her expectantly.

"This is what your planet is like?" Aeryn says, still looking around as she starts forward. Why is she not surprised? The arcade is packed, the corridor narrow and closed in by booths on both sides, but she manages to weave deftly through the crowd.

RIDES!

"Such a lovely, wondrous place," Tomoyo mused almost to herself, though for anyone who would actually know her would know she wasn't exactly saying this while she was alone.

"...Don't you agree, Sakura-chan?" The girl held up her camera and pointed it directly in front of her, a curious and excited look hidden behind the camera.

Sakura jumped a bit as Tomoyo aimed her camera at her. Even after all this time, she still wasn't used to it!

"Eheh, yes, it is!" she said, grinning sheepishly. "You wouldn't think a place like this existed, but..."

Tunnel of Love FTW

Kaya is definitely enjoying herself! Throughout the day she has enjoyed several fatty food, gone on several rides and even played a few video games. Best of all, she got to do all of this with Nokosi on arm. The serious waterbender/healer is very much like a kid in her first amusement park, spotting things left to right and pulling her boyfriend to each, smiling nad laughing ost of the day.

As the day drags on though, Kaya spots a place she wants to be with only Nokosi: the so-called "Tunnel of Love.." She didn't know why it was called that, or even what was in it, but it seemed like the perfect way to end their time in Gold Planet!

"How about here?" She asked Nokosi.

Considering his affinity for shiny, bright things and different noises, Nokosi was right there beside her most of the day with no complaints. He, too, acted like an awe-struck child and wanted to go on all the rides. So even when Kaya stopped them in front of the 'Tunnel of Love', he simply bobbed his head in agreement before he read the words displayed on the attraction.

"Tunnel of...Love?" he questioned, leaning to the side and trying to peer within. "Are we supposed to love the things inside it, or feel it while inside? If it is the latter, they should have just condensed it into a bottle. Otherwise, what's the point?"

The awkwardness following that day in the hallways had a pushing and pulling effect on both Homura and Mami. It had brought them closer together in some ways, but Homura felt embarrassed for being so distraught in front of the other girl.

Whatever way it is, the two of them are together right now. They wander through the Gold Planet, seeing what there is to see, and that's when the ferris wheel catches Homura's attention. With obvious hesitation, she points it out to Mami. She has always liked this sort of gentle ride.

"... Mami. Let's go on that."

Mami would be lying if she said she didn't feel the same way. She didn't like feeling weak in front of others, and she was normally so very good at hiding it... so to break down the way she did, to completely hit rock bottom in front of a person she didn't one hundred percent trust... it was definitely embarrassing. She felt ashamed.

But at the same time... it felt nice. It really had brought them closer; Homura had seen her at her worst, but aside from a few awkward days, had not completely abandoned Mami like she thought she would. And while Mami wasn't really planning on sobbing all over her (again) anytime soon, and even though it still frustrated her a little that there was now another person that knew just how damaged she was... she was glad to have someone else there for her.

Especially now! If she had been left to her sulking all alone, she wouldn't have thought to leave the ship when they touched down on this world. But she's glad she did, now; the fresh, non-recycled air, the sights and sounds... what a wonderful distraction. The ferris wheel had caught her attention as well, and a smile crossed her face.

"Okay. Let's go."

PECOCO RACES

"...Pecocos?" Luca narrowed her eyes at the sign in front of the entrance to the racetrack. The illustration sure looked like a chocobo... but not exactly.

Atom, unable to see the sign past the heads of all the adults milling around, ended up hovering above the crowd. "I've never seen birds like those before. I wonder if they're nice."

Zouichi was seated atop a big, ornery pink Pecoco that seemed a little more interested in sampling the weeds at the starting line than paying attention to the racing official.

Not for the first time, he wondered how he ended up in these situations.

It had been a while since Luca had had a chance to ride a chocobo. But, hey, these weren't chocobos anyway, so maybe it didn't matter. She sat on a bright yellow Pecoco that had a haughty look to it. It knew it could do the job.

Einhart couldn't help but blink as she was seated on the giant green bird thing. Said giant bird thing... the Pecoco, that's what it was called, was busy pretty much bouncing in place.

Einhart still had no idea how she had managed to get thrown into this in the first place. It was really, really confusing, to say the least.

The Pecoco let out a trill, and Einhart was starting to get worried that it would try to start running out of the stall before the race even started.

Punchy is not going to fall off this Pecoco dammit.

Punchy is also discovering that Pecocos are even harder to ride than horses. He keeps wrapping his arms around the neck on his, and it keeps trying to throw him. He's pretty sure it's going to miss the go signal just because it's too busy trying to toss him off and chewing on its toenails.

"Come on, bird, you gotta bring you A-game and ice these mofos," he whispers to it, trying to do his best soothing voice. It pecks him in the forehead.

RACE ONE START!

Ready or not, the race was starting! With the crack of the official starting pistol, the Pecoco stalls snapped open, setting the birds loose on the track!

Pecocos looked similiar to chocobos. Very similiar actually, and she studied a nearby poster for races.

"I can't believe they have races on these," she couldn't help but smile as she spoke to herself. The whole idea of it was so familiar she felt a little comforted by it and decided to watch one of the races. It was a good distraction, if anything.
