Medieval World!
Medieval World was one of the largest year-round renaissance faires in the multiverse.
Minstrels and bards wandered the streets, vendors sold ridiculously overpriced period clothing, jewelry, weapons, and turkey legs as big as a human's head, and the royal court mingled with the commoners. There were events everywhere: falconers, magicians, belly dancing, hypnotists, weapons competitions including swords, axes, maces, and bows, camel rides, Washing Well Wenches, fake jousting on wooden 'horses' suspended on ropes, and real jousting.
As was typical of these sorts of events, anachronicity was everywhere, as were patrons in all sorts of fantasy costumes.

Re: Sword fighting
He considers, "Besides, my size and genehancements would give me an advantage which could be considered unfair, or even dishonorable."
Re: Sword fighting
Re: Sword fighting
"Very well. I am Erhart Ritter of the Eternal Crusade. And I shall be your opponent." He looks around for a practice blade, his own weapon, the Black Sword, peacebound, and utterly useless for non-fatal fighting, it being relic weapon built only for the longest war mankind has ever known.

Re: Sword fighting
"I just realized something... this is the one place someone can actually have a go at another crewer without the ship being a problem."
Re: Sword fighting
Bowing before him, she asked, "Are you ready?"

Re: Sword fighting
"Now you understand, I think."
Re: Sword fighting
It was like striking a stone--no, that comparison wasn't quite accurate. She'd so rarely come against anything that unyielding. It was entirely possible she'd have to put magic behind her attacks just to stand a chance.
She aimed much lower this time, trying to make an upwards slash.
Re: Sword fighting
"My Name is Erhart Ritter. Knight of the Eternal Crusade."
Re: Sword fighting
"I'm Aqua, Master of the Keyblade order." Or what was left of it, being just her now.
Re: Sword fighting
"Ah. I am the Emperor's Champion." The last one, just like her. His voice is a deep basso growl, somewhat scrubbed by his augmitters.
Re: Sword fighting
"That sounds like a great honor," she said.
Re: Sword fighting
"It was an honor, yes, and a duty. I challenged the leadership of our foes, and engaged them in duels while our armies engaged one another."
Re: Sword fighting
It was clear that he had the advantage when it came to strength, but if she could at least try to pick up her speed, she might stand a better chance. She made three attacks toward his head followed by three alternating at his sides.
"I was on the front lines," she said. "Right after I'd passed my Mark of Mastery exam, my Master sent me to investigate a new enemy that had appeared and to find a fellow Master who had disappeared. It turned out he was behind the new enemy, and I had to fight him and his apprentice."

"I was trapped in a world of darkness after my last battle," she explained. "Then all of a sudden, I woke up on the ship."
no subject
"Did you win? Your final battle, that is."
no subject
"I failed," she admitted. "He was able to take over my friend's body. I did all I could to save him, but I don't know if it was enough."

And then... all at once, he counters, stepping forward and taking the offensive, feigning a high-line series of thrusts, then sweeping in a long backhanded blow intended to force Aqua to parry, and then twist the blade out of her grasp.
"Was it a loss in battle, or because of Sorcery?"
no subject
"A bit of both, to be honest," she admitted. "He wore him down with dark magic, and when he was at his weakest, overtook him during battle. I couldn't even try to reach him through magic without facing him in combat first."
no subject
He returns the bow, after a moment, obviously a bit unsettled by the mention of magic.
