Medieval World!

Medieval World was one of the largest year-round renaissance faires in the multiverse.

Minstrels and bards wandered the streets, vendors sold ridiculously overpriced period clothing, jewelry, weapons, and turkey legs as big as a human's head, and the royal court mingled with the commoners. There were events everywhere: falconers, magicians, belly dancing, hypnotists, weapons competitions including swords, axes, maces, and bows, camel rides, Washing Well Wenches, fake jousting on wooden 'horses' suspended on ropes, and real jousting.

As was typical of these sorts of events, anachronicity was everywhere, as were patrons in all sorts of fantasy costumes.

Join in the fun!

[OOC: Add things if you want, and go for it!

Also, if anyone wants to win a flower for their lady from the Wenches, contact Shae for NPCing.

Encouraged, Aqua continued the low attacks, but once she thought he was beginning to get used to the pattern, she began attacking to his sides.

"I failed," she admitted. "He was able to take over my friend's body. I did all I could to save him, but I don't know if it was enough."

"I see." He grunts, several of the side slashes getting through, marking his armor and exposing it to gunmetal grey, instead of the matte black it had initially been painted.

And then... all at once, he counters, stepping forward and taking the offensive, feigning a high-line series of thrusts, then sweeping in a long backhanded blow intended to force Aqua to parry, and then twist the blade out of her grasp.

"Was it a loss in battle, or because of Sorcery?"

Aqua struggled to keep up with his attacks, but his last one caused her to lose her sword. Without hesitation, she bowed before him in respect.

"A bit of both, to be honest," she admitted. "He wore him down with dark magic, and when he was at his weakest, overtook him during battle. I couldn't even try to reach him through magic without facing him in combat first."

"Trust not in sorcery. It leads only to corruption, in the end. Your strength of will is your first resort, and then, the strength of your arm must be perfected."

He returns the bow, after a moment, obviously a bit unsettled by the mention of magic.

What he said sounded similar to Terra's comments that by trusting too much in the light, they were becoming corrupted. She knew that Terra had been manipulated at the time, but maybe there was some truth to what he--and now Erhart--said.

Her strength of will had certainly been weakened. It was taking time to restore, but she had to try harder.

"Thank you," she said. "I'll take that into consideration."

"Now is as good a time to begin as any. Now, take up the blade and come at me again. Don't yield, win." He brandishes his blade one-handed, and waits for her.

Aqua took a breath before charging, making a quick, clean strike with her sword. It was like the Mark of Mastery exam all over again--demonstrate your skill and symbiosis with the blade.

[identity profile] swordofdorn.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Erhart brings it up, parrying handily, sparks striking from the blade on blade contact.

"Good." He steps back, waiting for her to strike again, obviously pushing her now.

[identity profile] rainfell-aqua.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Her next strike went toward his middle, with a good deal of force behind it.

[identity profile] swordofdorn.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Erhart nods his approval even after he parries the thrust at his middle.

"Good. Good! I'll make A templar of you yet."

Meeting his sword, Aqua tried to twist her blade around to wrench his from his hand.

[identity profile] swordofdorn.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
It almost works. Had it been anything other than a Black Templar, it would have worked. But there is a reason they chain all their blades and pistols to their hands. They refuse to let a weapon fall out of their grasp, until they are dead. He hisses a little in pain from the wrench, obviously out of position, but will struggle and try to use his superior mass to bull her back, and knock her donw.

Aqua's grip was beginning to slip on her sword, though she did all she could to keep it in her hands. But his greater size and weight was enough to throw her back.

"No matter what I try, I won't be able to defeat you," she admitted. "Not yet."

[identity profile] swordofdorn.livejournal.com 2011-11-10 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Then you have something to aspire to, to fight for. That much is good." He nods his head, and returns the borrowed blade to the rack from whence it came.

"Come to the Sensorium sometime. I shall program proper practice for you, so that some day you may well be able to defeat me."

[identity profile] stormfall-aqua.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I would be honored," she answered, bowing. "Thank you."

[identity profile] swordofdorn.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
"I bid you good day then."

He returns the bow, and sweeps off without another word, not unkindly, just... curt and to the point.
