Mission Start: Seeds of Hope

"Thank you all for coming. The GIA has been good to us to send a team of delegates. You must be all tired from your trip so please, rest up. Our medical team will provide you all with assistance to treat the plague with your advanced medicine." said the King, bowing to the newcomers.

"For the time being, please wander around the town, but be sure not to stray to the outside. We'll begin medical treatment as soon as possible."

It was an old city, Circle-Xine on the Planet of Koar. Standing there astride an oasis and a desert, it housed a formidable amount of defence, but the same went for the people within who were tough, hardy, but suffering from a special plague. It was a petrification plague, and it was making their people sick, slowly turning the people to stone.

Trans9 had been contacted by the GIA, in order to establish a foothold there, by offering medical supplies, and a team of six had been deployed from the Calnus, and landed outside the city.

It was here Reimi turned to the others. "All right everyone, we'll begin helping the medical relief within two hours. Until then, familiarize yourself with the layout of the town, or rest up. We'll begin after we've settled in."

"Stay in twos as well. I'll be here to coordinate efforts and be bringing the medical supplies from the Calnus."

Sandy looked up from her inspection of the ground to meet the eyes of this newcomer. She recognized her from the mission meeting and nodded, "Is anyone ever just...whelmed anymore?"

"It's the best description for it," admitted Reimi. "You know if you're looking for something to do, we could definitely get someone to help with running things back and forth after we get started obviously."

Running, yeah running was something she was good at.

"Yeah sure. I'm not really sure what I'm doing here anyway." She explained veering towards Reimi with a shrug. "I'm no doctor. I'm not even like a nurse I only just started learning CPR."

"Everyone's got a role to play," said Reimi with a smile. "Sometimes you just need to look for it first before you actually discover what your role is all about before it becomes clear."

Sandy blinked at her for a minute processing he words. "I dunno I think it makes more sense that Stacy is crazy and just picks people at random half the time." She decided cynically but she smiled back ruefully. Self esteem was not one of her stronger suits.

Reimi laughed at that. "It seems like that. But this is a good party, I know it. And don't worry we'll get this cure synthesized as soon as we can."

Sandy nodded thoughtfully, "So like, the disease turns people to stone right?" it was something she had some experience with.

"That's right. I suspect I was selected because I've encountered this kind of disease once before," said Reimi. "Back on the planet of Roak."

"Well that makes sense." Sandy smiled a little considering that at least someone around here knew what they were doing.

"I just do this." Sandy explained and stone slide along her body like water coating her from head to toe.

"That's quite the unique power," said Reimi, nodding. "I'll bet it comes in handy at times."

"Eh." Sandy shrugged and shifted back, "I can't see what good it'll do for the people around here. I'm no fighter after all." Again leading her back to where she began with this confusion.

"Have they told us what we need to do to help the people here yet?" Sandy thought she had overheard some conversation about a magic medicine but she wasn't sure.

"We're to help with the medical situation, giving aid as needed and gathering items for the cure. Hopefully our efforts will allow the infected people to return to normal quickly," said Reimi.

"Gathering items." Sandy repeated, "Like plants? Are we gonna be making the stuff? That might be cool." She thought imagining something akin to a some pictures she had seen in an old book about alchemists.

"That's right. The materials we need grow around the town. We should be able to make a powerful Last Elixir from them," said Reimi, grinning at that. "In my world they call it alchemy."

"I know about that!" Sandy brightened feeling for a moment on par. "They used like...that grinding stone thing and a stone bowl...morter?" She guessed and then made the motion of grinding up plants into a powder. It actually looked a little vulgar the way she was doing it but she wasn't doing it that way intentionally.

"That's right. We'll be helping them with the new mix of Last Elixir," said Reimi, nodding.

"Great!" If she could learn how to prepare medicine maybe she'd be more useful hanging around the med bay. Every little bit helped after all.

"Oh that reminds me," said Reimi, digging into her papers and holding out a image of a seven-leafed plant. "There's these growing in the desert around us, within twenty yards. Do you mind going and picking three of them? We'll need it as a base to create the elixir."

Sandy's eyes lit up with the opportunity to pull her own weight and be useful. "I can do that!" She studied the image carefully and without another word took off running for the edge of town kicking up dust in her wake.
