Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Machinery parts, protective amulets, armour - whatever is needed. The work for the Departments take priority, but I also trade my services to individual crewmembers. With the only blacksmiths on board being myself and my apprentice, we have to be able to manage anything and everything."

It was busy work, but it was familiar - and it gave Daja a purpose and a direction.

"I don't think any of us know exactly how she makes her choice - not entirely. But what I do know is that she aimed to rescue those people who 'stories' were of particular note. The kind of people who's have lived through extraordinary stories. My apprentice, for example, was the first person of his tribe to tame a dragon. As for how she decides which friends and family to save...that I do not know."

[[ooc: Hey, you were on hiatus - it's no big deal! (and it's not like I'm not slow at times too :P)]]

"It sounds like you make yourself useful around here," Alanna smiled approvingly. "I'll have to figure out how to do the same for myself." She was already twitchy at the thought of not having a task to complete, of not having some way to be of use. A thoughtful frown crossed the Lioness's face. "Do you know of any place where extra help might be needed? I know some healing magic, so if the healers you have are in need of help, I might be able to be of some aid." Maude's warnings had not gone unheeded over the years, although Alanna had tried to ignore them at first. When there was need or when she found herself with extra time, Alanna had often found herself making her way down to the healers' quarters to offer what aid she could, so it was first thing to come to her mind when searching for a task to complete.

The Lioness' eyes darkened with concern. She'd hoped for a clearer answer to soothe the worries and doubts that troubled her. It was disappointing to find no clear answer, but Alanna was still grateful to Daja for giving her what information she did have. "I see. Thank you." Helplessness was a feeling that she both hated and feared. What was the point of being a Lioness if she couldn't even protect those who needed her? Those she loved? She tried to force the feeling away, but it remained despite her best efforts.

(OOC: Thank you. :) )

"The Medical Department is always in need of more healers - and you will find that there are plenty of opportunities to be of use on the ship. In addition to Medical, you might also be of assistance to the Magical Department. And I am sure that a Knight such as yourself would be greatly appreciated in Security."

Yes, someone of Alanna's skill set certainly would not want for opportunities on the ship. In fact, she was rather curious - a warrior with healing magic? That combination certainly wasn't common.

She nodded to Alanna, accepting her thanks. "Is there anything else you need?"

Alanna nodded, taking in the names offered. She would check in with the different areas as soon as she could. If she could be of use... "Thank you for the help. I'll have to ask those in charge at the first available opportunity."

The Lioness silently considered Daja's question, grateful to the smith mage for her help. A fair amount of her confusion remained, but it was hard to know where to start to unravel it. Shaking her head, she finally smiled and said, "I suppose that's all for now. Thank you for everything. You've been very kind." She hesitated and bit her lip before adding, "May... I come speak with you again if I need more help?"

"Yes, of course," Daja said, not hesitating to offer assistance. "You can usually find me at my forge, in the City - it's marked on a map you can find within your omnicomm. You are welcome to come visit any time."

"Thank you," Alanna said with a friendly smile. "I may well take you up on that offer." Well, as soon as she figured out how to work the strange device anyway, so that she could access this map. But she would figure it out. She wasn't about to let anything in this place get the better of her.

There was gratitude in her voice as Alanna bid the friendly woman goodbye and took her leave.
