Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"It's 'cuz you think fast. It's not a bad thing, just a thing." He taps the place on his head where his goggles would normally be, if they weren't broked.

"I can verse ya," Punchy says with so much enthusiasm. Anything besides 'hip hop, ew' means a potential convert to him. "I ain't seen Wicked, but the name is dope. And you say you did threads and shit? I been thinking about glossing mine up sometime, but I need some help with the design."

"oh, I guess maybe that could be it. I've never really thought of it that way before!" She smiled brightly, pleased to have a more positive spin on it. "You're probably right though, I tend to kind of get a lot of thoughts I want to get out..." Like when she spoke a lot.

"Really?" Maxine replied, sounding almost surprised. "Oh my god, I wish I could show you but I don't know if the library here would have the music or anything but it's really beautiful and great and has such great music..." But she could ramble at him about that later. He had said something else she should respond to after all. "I'd love to help, though! I like designing costumes-- I did that for mine, with Court's help-- and I can sew too. I'm sure we could come up with something great! I guess you'd probably want something kind of similar to your regular costume, right? Since that'd be kind of like 'your style'."

Maxine's cute enough that Punchy would let her ramble at him all day. Especially since she seems to appreciate that he has a style, rather than trying to make him feel stupid or weird for his certain taste in bright colors and safety tape.

"The Media Library's got a pretty ace selection. Maybe I can show you sometime? We can look for Wicked or whatever in the stacks and I can jack up the Sensoriums to make it an actual stage show in a house and all."

He even blushes a little. "Yeah, I designed my threads myself. It's stylin' but uh...I used vinyl and plastic in it and it got melted to my hand pretty bad. Pretty dank burn, you know? I need something more durable and I can't sew worth shit."

This is definitely an idea that results in an enthused Maxine. "Yeah! That'd be amazing! It's so worth it, so it'd be really great if we could do that. The Sensoriums are supposed to be realistic, too, right? So it'd be almost like seeing the real thing again, which would be really great. I hope that we can find it and that you like it!"

"Ouch," she said, wincing a little. "Yeah, that's not good-- I mean, looks aside, burning yourself isn't exactly a fun experience. And they do look good, so you should be proud of that at least! I can definitely help you with the sewing, if nothing else, and hopefully that'll go well. It can be a project for us," she said.

"Fo' shizz." He almost claps his hands together at seeing her so excited. "Sometime this week, then? I figure you should check out your digs and meet the peeps around here before I steal you."

He waves his hand to show her it's fine now. "I like the idea of a project with you, shawty. Let's do it."

"Yes! That sounds great. We can check out what they have and see what we can do with them. I guess I do have to figure it out and stuff, still, anyway. It seems like a really huge ship, so hopefully I get used to it fast."

Bubbly once again, Maxine nodded. "Great! I'll have to see what I can find as far as materials and stuff, and we can work something out. Did you have specific ideas already?"

"I only been here what, like a month? Two? Time's kinda moded in his place, but you get the skizzy. Your comm's got a map on it. I can show you how to get it all set. I've got mad skills with the binary."

He shakes his head. "Not much yet, nah. You do design too, shawty? Maybe we can like, workshop it."

"Oh really? Like internal clocks are weird because we're not really in an actual universe or time as a whole is weird?" She asked out of honest curiosity. And then she perks up a bit. "Oh, that'd be great! I understand tech and I find it really interesting, but it was never really my specialty or anything either. Do you do a lot of stuff like that, then? Like, with the comms here and that sort of thing?"

"Yeah, some! When we worked on the performances at school I tended to take the costume duties, most of the time. Or somethings other administrative stuff, but I wasn't really an actress. So I tended to help with the design as well."

"Time in general. You try a watch around here and it's totally gank. We try and keep track by how many Z's we get, but that ain't much in the way of accurate." He beams like a searchlight. "Yeah, I'm hot shit in Programming. Beasting out over this rescue mission stuff, tracing signals, decoding the bytes and the lats. I can show you my set-up some time, it's fucking dope."

He widens his eyes a little. "Why not an actress, shawty? I mean, you got the looks, and attention's always good, right?"

"Oh, yeah, I guess that wouldn't be very accurate, no-- I mean, I've met people who don't really do a lot of sleeping, and I sometimes sleep too long, which is probably pretty common too." Maxine grins too, saying, "That's really cool! I'd love to see it sometime, and take a look for myself. Do you have a really high position there or something? And a rescue mission, really? Someone's in trouble? I hope that you guys find them-- but I guess that's what you do, since you're a hero."

She flushes, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Oh, well I guess I'm not really that good with the attention thing. I mean I can talk to people okay and explain things and stuff like that, but I don't think I'm a very good actress. I don't think I could stand in front of that many people and do lines or sing or anything."

"I probs don't catch enough downtime, honestly. We been cracking it real hard on this current case, some distress signal this homie's sending out over the comms, saying he's nabbed up and tortured. I been hitting it almost twenty-four seven, but nah, I'm just amateur hour so far."

He resists the very tempting urge to reach out and touch that hair. "I bet you got a pretty voice, though."

"Oh," Maxine let out the quiet noise, face falling at that. "That's awful. Why would someone do that?" Besides the 'villain' answer, anyway. "Are you guys at least close to saving him? I'm sure you're doing your best and that it'll get solved soon, I'm just worried, you know? Let me know if I can do anything to help, though I'm not experienced with programming or anything..." she trailed off, shaking her head. "Maybe I could help with something else, instead, right? If I can. I'm sure there's lots of people on the ship who can do it, and everyone will get it figured out soon, right?"

She does flush, though, when he compliments her, faint breeze moving her hair again. "I don't know about that, I mean I guess I can sing, but it's not like I'm very good at it or anything. I know a bit about acoustics and stuff, so I guess it's not like I don't know how to carry pitch or anything. I don't know, I guess I'm just not much of a singer."

"Some peeps are just evil," Punchy says simply. That's still how he sees the world, a stark divide of good and evil, with maybe side categories for 'uninvolved' and 'fast-tracking towards being good guys'. "But we're hot on his kicks, you know? Made a major breakthrough last week. Now it's mostly up to Billy and Shoutarou. Not much I can do unless he hits us up over the comms again."

He shrugs. "No big. You already seem pretty down with other things instead. Can't be the very best at it all, right?"

"I guess so," Maxine replies, shifting slightly. She doesn't like the thought-- but she's also seen a lot of evil in her short time as a hero. She just doesn't like thinking that people are that bad. But considering what happens in the world... "I'm glad to hear that it's going okay, though. I'm sure they can do it!" She's doing her best to be positive, if nothing else.

"I guess so. I hope I am good at it, anyway. At least the costume stuff is something I can apply here, right?"

"Yeah. A little evil's got nothing on us. We're effing G-status, you know?" He looks a bit concerned too, though. It bothers him that they haven't solved it yet. It bothers him knowing that someone out there needs his help and here he is talking to newbies, but he doesn't know what he can do but wait and dammit, he's out of gummi worms.

"Mos' def. Might be hard to find materials, though, but I got faith in you, shawty."

"Right! It'll be okay, 'cause it has to be, and we're the good guys, of course." She says. Actually she doesn't 100% understand what he said there, but she wasn't going to bring it up right now. She was going to have to learn his vocabulary as she goes! "Anyway, I'll be cheering you guys on, even if I can't help directly."

She smiles a little softer, nodding. "Thank you. I'm sure I can figure something out, anyway. I'll look for stuff for the both of us!"
