Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Boota was enough to make her smile. She looked to her side and lightly patted his head quietly before averting her attention to Simon. Who obviously didn’t have answers. Which confused her even more, worried her even.

“Again? Simon what are you talking about?” As her question closed, her smile faded. A little too grimly, she tried to explain. From the best of he memories, at least.

It was all she could provide.

“Just yesterday…or, at least it seemed like yesterday, we were fighting and Kamina…” And she let her sentence drop there. She didn’t want to say it, and she wasn’t sure how he would deal with it. Only, younger Simon would handle it badly. Older Simon? Did he remember this? Was he from a different universe? Ok, maybe she was thinking a little too extreme now. Her voice was tight, straining all the emotion out of it the best she could for him.

“…he died.”

Simon's shoulders slumped a bit as Yoko explained her point in time. "Oh man..." He reached up and scratched his head with a sigh. "That... For me, that was seven years ago... There's a lot that's happened since then. It's kinda crazy how much."

He did reach out, however, and put a comforting hand on the shoulder opposite Boota. "He didn't die in vain, however."

“Seven…no, it just happened. You were there. You were there and smaller and…” It wasn’t like he said he didn’t believe her, he just said it happened longer ago for him than it did her. He’d at least been given time to cope with it, and a part of her envied him for it. Here he was, all grown up, and only making her more curious about what was to become.

She flinched a little to the touch but relaxed and looked over to his hand a little warily. Yeah, she was about to cry, so avoiding his stare was a goal until she felt the urge subside. She took his wrist to lift his hand and froze for a moment before letting it go.

He was an adult. It was a lot for her to deal with.

“So…you’re from the future?” In a whisper.

Simon swallowed. Once again, he found himself wishing Leeron were around to make sense of all this stuff. "I... Uh. The people here say people got pulled from different universes... Maybe it's different times, too? But ...gaah, I don't know." He sighed again, frustrated. "I never was good at explaining this kind of stuff, much less understanding it..."

"I guess I am..." he answered, and if Yoko allowed it, pulled her into a hug - she looked like she could use it right about now.

Unexpected, especially from the bashful boy she remembered, but it was very much appreciated. She froze up before returning it, fistfuls of his coat in her hands as she wiped her eyes against the sleeve. Hopefully it went as unnoticed as possible, but she doubted it. he could tell how upset she was pretty quick. She was glad for it, though.

She was glad he was here.

“Must be it. The…different times things.” A sniffle before she looked up, finally feeling like she had some of her composure back. She didn’t need much of an explanation.

“Tell me what happens. After…you know.” Not saying it twice, sorry bro. “And who else is here.”

Still bashful, but a desperate situation calls for a desperate move. He may have had more time to get over what happened to Kamina, but he definitely remembers the pain to this day - and how rough it was then. To have all this dropped on that... Probably worse than what the Anti-Spirals have dropped on them so far.

"After that... Stuff got a little rough. We met a girl who turned out to be the daughter of the Spiral King, and the other Generals." He frowns a bit, not too proud of his past actions. "I... I fell into one hell of a funk. We all did. The girl, though, Nia..." There's a wistful tone to his voice as he says the name, and a bit of worry as well.

"Nia helped me get back on my feet. She'd been cast away as garbage by the Spiral King. Left to die. We took her in, and she helped me get my head sorted out so I could take up where Bro left off as leader."

A pause. "That's just the start of things, though - but as far as I know, it's just me and you--" he answered, then Boota made an annoyed noise. "--and Boota."

She listened, happy to do so. Occasionally she nodded, but it was nice to just hear what would, for the most part, be a positive future than have to talk about the pain that had just recently been brought upon her. And Simon. Even if it was some time ago, he had lost Kamina, too. And it all just hurt.

“How long did it take? For us to really move on?” She doubted it would be very soon, but the way he worded it, it gave her hope. There was a future after Kamina, one that he had helped build.

And then a faint smile crossed her lips. “Mm…Nia. You cared a lot about her…or you still do?” Which was absolutely adorable and left her in some suspicion. How did she react to Nia back home? But the thoughts disappear as quickly as they appeared in her mind. “Just us?” Her voice sounded anxious.

"I think that varied for everyone, really. With the impact Bro had, as much as it motivated us, it's not something we could just move on so easily from. He was always in our memories. After we took Teppelin, we renamed the city after him - put up a huge statue of him in front of our capital building..."

Yoko's second question brought his mind back to Nia, and his expression fell a bit. "I... Still do." He'd been trying not to think about her - with all that happened before he left, now this... Was she even still alive? Was she awake, or in the pods? The inquiry about just them got a nod. "From what I've seen, yes."
