Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Friends, definitely. I think he trusts me...guardedly. But he does." Alastirra tilted her head, shrugging slightly.

"He is subtle, that one, and not easy to get close to. He can be volatile too. But for all his defensiveness, he has a good heart." She frowned, though. If only the spirits were less closed mouthed when it came to him!

Alanna nodded understandingly. Thom didn't tend to be the easiest person to get to know, but it made Alanna quite happy to hear another speak of her brother with such affection. It was nice to find another who could see Thom for the person that she knew him to be beneath the cold surface that he often showed to strangers. "Yes, he has a very good heart," she agreed with a smile. "He's a wonderful person." She remembered well all the times that he'd gone along with some of her sillier ideas, even a few that could have gotten them both in trouble had they been caught, when they'd been young. She wished often that people could know her brother as she did.

(OOC: I am so very sorry about how long this response took. If you'd prefer not to continue this thread then I understand. Thank you and I'm sorry.)

Alastirra nodded with a grin. "I like to think so, at least. He has permission to come and visit in my garden whenever he likes, whether I am there or not. I think he finds it restful and calming. And if it facilitates his meditation, it is all for the best."

The Draenei grinned. "That does not mean I do not want to know more about you, though, now that you are here! But we should probably work at getting you better settled in. Finding you a place to stay and such."

(OOC: nooo problem, I can be a glacier at tagging, a lot, so this is no big deal. ;) )

Alanna nodded, noting the information with interest. She'd have a lot to ask Thom about later. The Lioness smiled gratefully at Alastirra. "Thank you for watching over my brother. It means a lot to me to know that he's had someone to support him while he was here."

Violet eyes sparkling, Alanna's grin widened. "And I look forward to getting to know you better." Then she nodded. "I suppose that would be the next step, although I'd rather not leave here just yet. If I'm going to be working and fighting alongside the others around this place, I might as well use this opportunity to meet as many people as possible. Where do people generally live around here?"

The knight paused for a moment before hesitantly adding, "And do you know of a place around here where magic is studied?" Her brother's problem remained at the forefront of her mind and probably would until it was solved. Even though he would prefer otherwise, she couldn't and wouldn't let it persist. It was too dangerous.

(OOC: Thank you. :) )

"Some people live in the crew cabins, but some have sought out places in the City to make their own. I am not certain where Thom lives, because he usually comes to my garden in Hydroponics when he chooses to visit. And I am very oftentimes there," Alastirra said with a shrug.

At Alanna's next question, the Draenei looked confused for a moment, and then brightened. "Oh, you will probably want to speak to Aibghalien, then. He is an elf, and has dealings with the Magical Department here. I believe he and Thom have had discussions before. He is fairly nice, even if he can be a bit...preoccupied at times."

Aibghalien also tended to be the "sit back and research" type, whereas Alastirra herself tended to be the "go out and do things" type.

The information was helpful and Alanna was thankful for it. Filing it away for further reference, she turned her mind to another question. "Hydroponics? What is that?" Alanna found herself quite liking Alastirra. She seemed to be honest, straightforward, and sensible, which made talking to her quite pleasant. The knight could see why her brother might have sought Alastirra's company.

"Aibghalien?" she repeated curiously, even further intrigued to hear that her brother had spoken to this Aibghalien before. Another question to ask him later. Well, it was as good a starting point as any. "I'll have to try to contact him. Thank you for all the help. I'm grateful."

"It is a ship area, where many living things are. A garden, I suppose, though it is more like...a sample of things that Stacy has rescued, I guess. Plant life of many types, and there are many animals that I have never seen before, there. I have taken a part of it to grow food, however, as the food usually offered here is..." Alastirra made a face.

"Well, it is nourishing, but there is little to be said for its taste."

That was really as charitable as she could be about it.

"Aibghalien is usually easy to find. You can reach him over the coms, or he is either at his office in the Jedi Temple, down in the City, or he is at the Tower of High Sorcery, also in the City. And you are very welcome! I am happy to have been of aid to you," the shaman said with a slight bow.

Alanna tilted her head as she listened, her eyes reflecting keen interest. She wanted to discover all she could about life aboard this Stacy as soon as she could. The more she knew, the better off she'd be later.

She nodded agreeably. "I'd imagine that adding to our food stores is always a good idea anyway. Relying solely on one source for anything seems to be asking for trouble." Alanna made a face. "Is the food here really so bad?" She honestly wasn't overly picky when it came to food. There was rarely time for that, after all, when one spent as much time on the road as she.... or cooked as poorly as she did, but she still preferred a decent meal at the end of the day. She'd deal with it, but that didn't mean that she was happy to hear it.

"I'll seek him out then. Thank you," Alanna smiled. "I'm pleased to have met you, Alastirra. I hope that I'll have the chance to get to know you better."
