Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Alanna smiled as Miyuki approached. It was nice to see a familiar face among all the strangers and she'd grown fond of the girl during the time in pod caverns. "I'm glad to see you, Miyuki. And, yes, this is mine. I was quite pleased to find my armor waiting for me." She'd have to do something about her missing weapons, but that would have to wait for the moment.

She looked Miyuki over, noticing the shield-like item on her arm. "Is that your shield then? It has an interesting design."

The armor just made Miyuki's vision of awesome castles and knights in armor on horses stick.

"It's a weapon!" she boasted, hitting something somewhere and letting the vaguely fist-shaped object in the front poke out. "Althoooough you can't make a weapon that doesn't serve with SOME kind of force defense. So this version can take a few hits, too."

Which, in truth, wouldn't have been that far off from the facts of life as far as Alanna's homeland went.

"Really?" Alanna asked curiously, as she examined the odd weapon. It wasn't like the weapons that she was used to, but given that nothing here was like what she was used to, the knight was starting to get used to that fact. "Yes, you're right. A good weapon should be able to take at least a few blows, although it's better not to rely on them too much for that purpose or you risk ending up with a broken weapon. That's where armor and shields factor into the situation." Her eyes moved now to Miyuki, surprise reflected in them. Miyuki hadn't struck her as a fighter before, but the weapon and her knowledge of it seemed to indicate otherwise. "You're a warrior too then?"
