Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Oh, a Gundam's got a face! But it's got the rest of the body too. Hah, it'd be weird to fight someone else using something that didn't have a proper face."

...another point against Zakus.

"Ok-ay, time for the tentacles again," she said, leading him to the opening. "The Hangar!"

Whoosh.

Even in context, 'time for the tentacles again' is unnerving no matter how nonchalant you say it.

Simon steps into the opening after Allenby, and follows suit.

Once he arrives, he wobbles a bit, shaking his head at the feeling of it. That's just plain weird.

[identity profile] nobel-berserker.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much. YOU GET USED TO IT, SIMON. Probably.

She chuckled at the look on his face, but not mockingly. "It's real weird, ain't it? But you--well ya still notice it, but you stop havin' to nerve yourself up to go anywhere after a while.

She waved an arm around the Hangar. "Anyway, here we are! I don't think we have any other Gunmen around, so let's just wander around 'till we find it."
punchedoutdestiny: (Awkward...)

THAT JUST MAKES IT MORE UNNERVING.

Simon glanced back at the tubes, then set to following Allenby. "Definitely going on the list of most awkward things I've took part in, for sure."

He nodded, glancing around at the various robots and ships with some wonder. "Shouldn't be too hard, it tends to stand out. Red, black, and gold. Pointed black sunglasses on the chest..."

"Sunglasses? Hey, it sounds like this thing has style," Allenby said appreciatively. Sometimes it really got on her nerves how ugly some of the mechs--even other Gundams!--could be. Obviously they were designed for a different purpose, but they still should have had some kind of style.

Simon chuckled. "You have no idea," he answered, a good bit of pride in his tone.

After a few minutes of walking, Boota perked up, making excited noises and motioning. There it stood among some other mechs. Simon grinned, rather relieved to find the mech here. "Here it is! The embodiment of Team Dai-Gurren's determination, a symbol to the whole world of hope - Gurren-Lagann!"

[identity profile] nobel-berserker.livejournal.com 2011-10-08 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Now Allenby saw what he meant by a machine with two faces. There was the one up on top, of course... but the body itself grinned at her, radiating confidence and determination from every joint.

"That is just awesome!" She grinned hugely. "Team Dai-Gurren, huh? Well, I just bet it's gonna be a symbol of hope to the whole damn universe!"

Simon couldn't fight back his own grin. He folded his arms with a nod. "I don't see why not. It's been through a hell of a lot back home to bring a peaceful world to people - now we just gotta bring them back." He smirked. "I'll kick and scream and fight like hell to scrape forward until we find a way!"

[identity profile] nobel-berserker.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah!" Allenby raised her fists in a fighting stance, as though she was ready to take on some more Ohm right now, and frankly that was the kind of mood she was getting into. This guy... Stacy had made a good choice getting him out of the pods!

Now he just needed some of his own friends. But with him and his Gunman (that thing radiated burning spirit, seriously) there was no room for pessimism. "I fought with everything I had to save Earth--and I'll do it all over again, too! With my Gundam and your Gunman, we can't lose--even if it takes us the rest of our lives!"
punchedoutdestiny: (Dashing)

"A whole lifetime of fighting..." Simon wasn't sure how to feel about that idea - especially if he wouldn't see the other members of Team Dai-Gurren. This girl, though - she mentioned she was the only one of her group here, too. She apparently had the tenacity to keep going in spite of it...

No reason to not try it, at least. At least to save the universe from these things. "Beats wasting away in a chair and signing paperwork."

[identity profile] nobel-berserker.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'd rather have the fightin' than the paperwork anyday," said Allenby, making a brief face at the idea of forms and phone calls. She had a hard time imagining the pilot of that Gurren-Lagann being good with it, either.

"Oh hey! I never said my name! I'm Allenby." She grinned. "What's yours?"

"Yeah, me too. And trying to "maintain the image of a good Supreme Commander" is even worse when I got someone breathin' down my neck about me bailing to go do what needed to be done..."

Granted...he understood Rossiu's reasoning behind it somewhat. He still didn't agree with it or like it, though.
