The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Cedric could agree to that. He'd have to stop by the area sometime. "And which has the crazy people and which has the sparkles?"

He honestly thought both could apply to his world.

"Anyway, thank you. Were you training before this?" he asked, finally acknowledging the strange suit.

"Let's just say some of the guys in engineering have a couple screws loose." Grif made a loop with one finger in the air beside his head.

"I wasn't training for anything, this is just what I wear," he went on. "It's armor. So if we get a zombie invasion or some other ungodly bullshit happens I am going to be prepared."

Zombie invasion? They'd heard about the undead in certain classes, and he knew You-Know-Who had used them, but again? He'd have to recall how to fight them.

"All the time? I guess you'd get used to it after a while. But is a zombie invasion aboard the ship all that likely?"

He wasn't going to like the answer to that question.

"Hey, it happened once! So I will be completely not surprised and also very prepared if it does again." Grif nodded firmly.

"I think we're more dealing with aliens right now than zombies, though. On planets and stuff. The ship's been okay for a while, which is a relief. I think we might've finally got rid of all the crazy wants-to-kill-us crap."

Okay. This was going to be a tad more difficult than Cedric had expected. He nodded uncertainly. "Right. So...always carry your weapon, look both ways? And who should I report things to?"

He was sure any sightings should be reported to somebody. It was a basic tenet of prefect training.

Oh Cedric. I just want to hug him.

"Uhhh... security, I guess? Pretty much when stuff happens people put it on the omnicomms. You write "oh no guys people are attacking be prepared" or something and then everybody does. Or comm rings, if you actually wanna yell at people."

Me too. And Grif just needs a break :P

"Got it," Cedric nodded, taking a mental note. "Though I don't think I like yelling, not really." He tapped the ring in thought.

"Is that what you are then? A security officer, commander?"

Grif laughed at that. "Me? No way. I'm president of the Department of Being Awesome. That's way better than security any day."

Cedric made a funny sort of face in disbelief. "Are you sure that's a real department? What exactly do you do?"

Dry humor---causes that other humor to go right past him.

"...I was actually joking, but that should totally be a department now."

Cedric had to fight to keep himself from laughing. "And you'll need a mission, right? Some statement of purpose? Is that how you found an organisation around here?

"Uh, I guess so? People just kinda seem to adopt things and start doing them." He shrugged. "That's how we got the magic department, at least. I think."

Magic department, huh? That was probably where he should go.

"Right, so you have an example. The magic department. Do they talk about magic? Practise with it?"

"I don't really know, I'm not exactly magic. But I think they deal with all the mystical crap we run into and keep the powerful crazy guys from blowing stuff up? Best guess."

That sounded appealing. Cedric made a note to talk to someone from there later on. "So your awesome department would be about preventing a...shortage of awesome? However you define that, I suppose."
