Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

River Song. There's a not-quite-familiar face he so didn't expect to see that she's not even on his list of people he didn't expect to ever see again. That alone is actually enough to snap him out of his sulk and earn a curious gaze.

She's blonde, and she's younger, and she's not wearing that...'ask me about the future' badge in her eyes. Well, if she is, it's not directed at him with all the mischief and challenge he expects.

It's possible this is the...or an alternate version of the woman. It's also possible, although slightly less so, that this is her earlier in her time stream. He doesn't know her...at all so he can't really read that expression enough to know if she doesn't recognize him or if she's simply not...that. yet.

Ignoring for the moment the guilty flash of memory her face brings, and the fact that he's got really only guesses to work off of, it feels a little bit like he's got the upper hand this time. Especially as, if she recognizes him at all, she'll expect he's other him.

It's refreshing, after last time.

There might be a touch of smugness in his smile. Might. "Hello."

Oh, River has somewhat of a clue who he is. However, she's used to all versions of the Doctor recognizing her. She hasn't even begun to think that their timey wimey relationship will someday come to a close. It would be heart wrenching to find the Doctor doesn't know her at all. It would mean that was the day she must die. Just like she's both kill and saved the Doctor when she'd first met him.

She's looking at him and yet, she can't quite make the connection. Without a companion by his side, some goofy fashion accessory, or the TARDIS in the general vicinity, it's hard to know and she wasn't about to just come up to him and ask if he's the Doctor.

"Do you know who I am?"

There's a better question for him. And no, she hasn't sensed that he's different. Not yet.

Oh, now there's a question. He could give almost any shade of response to that and be entirely truthful to a point. Now, the better question is whether her curiosity comes from the certain familiarity a smug smile would imply to someone who doesn't know him, or if it's because she does know a future version of (the other) him and only suspects his own identity.

"Oh...'know' can mean so many things. For instance, if someone walked up and handed me a picture of that man over there and said 'do you know this man?' I'd be obligated to say 'yes, I saw him on the Obs Deck'."

River's eyes narrow suspiciously. He's babbling and that's a trait from the Doctor that she knows very well. The Doctor babbles constantly. Sometimes she thinks he's not even aware of half the things he says, too absorbed in his clever thoughts to filter out anything.

"I mean, do you know me? Have we met before? Because I have the strangest feeling of deja vu."

That's not fair. Plenty of people babble, he just does it charmingly.

He arches an eyebrow. "If you're feeling deja vu, doesn't that imply the answer already?" Yeah. Try that one, Professor Song.
