Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Miyuki assumed the hat was something that belonged to Maxine since she didn't get one whens he got her plane suit, just like her M.W.S. The big, bulky shield-looking weapon was on her arm, kept at her side for now, since she didn't have a room quite yet to go drop it off in. She walked over to Maxine.

"Hey, what's that?" she pointed to the hat. "Did you find that in that room full of stuff?"

Maxine brightened a little to see Miyuki again, someone she recognised in the crowded room full of strangers. Not that they'd known each other long, but it was still a relief.

"Hi Miyuki! Yes! It's a hat from my old costume, from before all this. It was the only piece of my outfit I found, but I guess that's okay, since at least it's something." She looked curiously at the object the other girl now had, as well. "Is that something from your world? It's nice that Stacy saved some things for us, as well, since obviously that wasn't really a priority."

[identity profile] patenting.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
She wondered why Stacy gave people clothes instead of weapons. Sentimental value? Maybe the hat was magical, it looked like a witch hat. That'd make sense!

"Yep! This is a weapon, too, so I guess there's a good reason why she took this, too!" She raised it up some. "I can make tons more like it, too."
windwitch: (excitement)

"Hey, that's really cool," Maxine said cheerfully. "It sounds really useful, especially if you can make more. Are you an engineer then?" she asked. "I'm not really a weapons person but I know why they're useful."

[identity profile] patenting.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"I make all sorts of weapons! I'm good at more than that, too. I design and build these myself." She tilted her head. "Not a weapons person? Too bad, I was about to offer to make the perfect weapon for you!"
windwitch: (excitement)

[personal profile] windwitch 2011-10-05 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh wow," Maxine said, genuinely interested. "I had a few friends back home who were into engineering and stuff, and I like looking at things like that, but it was hardly my specialty." She did brighten a little though. "Really? That's a nice thought, thank you, Miyuki! I don't really know what kind of weapon I would use anyway. I usually just use my powers to fight, when I have to, and that's most of what I've learnt to do."

[identity profile] patenting.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Wait, powers? You have powers?"
windwitch: (powers)

[personal profile] windwitch 2011-10-06 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. Right, I guess I didn't talk about those before-- I was kind of caught up in what was going on, so I didn't think too much about it. I'm a superhero." She said the last part in a very bright voice, smiling. She was pretty proud of that fact. "I have wind powers, so I've been learning how to use them." With that, a breeze picked up around her, enough to blow her hair around, and she lifted off the ground for a brief moment.

"Like a protagonist in an action series!"

Miyuki watched her demonstration with amazed eyes. And after Maxine's feet touched the ground she began the questions. "How does the rest of the costume look? Do you have a mask? Do you fight crime like in the comic books or is it like some kind of epic adventure series? Hey, do you have a superhero name?"
windwitch: (excitement)

[personal profile] windwitch 2011-10-07 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Maxine, for her own part, was perfectly content to receive a plethora of questions-- and just as happy to answer them, too.

"The rest of my costume is like a green dress, only with the front folded over and a golden cyclone on it. Some people think it's kind of silly to wear a skirt of any kind because of my powers but I wear a red unitard under it so it's not really any worse than other heroes. I don't wear a mask though-- I've never really thought about it, but I guess I don't really do the secret identity thing. I fight crime and something we have some crazy missions to do with things like demons or gods, and it can get kind of overwhelming, but my team can handle it! And I do have a superhero name: I'm Cyclone! It took me a long time to decide on that one, but my aunt and uncle were the Cyclone Kids when they were younger, so it's kind of like a tribute, you know?"

[identity profile] patenting.livejournal.com 2011-10-07 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's so cool!" This was almost believable. Ohm? What Ohm? What horrible things just happening around them? Right now Miyuki was, in all manners of speaking, distracted by this awesome.

"Demons and gods? That sounds tough! You guys must be really strong. What's your team like?"
windwitch: (far too enthusiastic)

[personal profile] windwitch 2011-10-07 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Maxine, for her own part, appreciated the distraction as well. It was much better to talk about her world-- though maybe later she'd feel guilty for how much she talked-- than to think about what had happened to her world.

"It was tough! Though I wasn't a lot of help most of those times. And my team was really cool. I idolized them a lot before I joined the team, I even once made a fan club for them in high school. Well, sort of anyway-- we were a big team but then we split off into two smaller teams but it was still amicable so it was no big deal. A lot of the older heroes were recruiting some of us younger, newer heroes, so that we could be trained and learn how to be better with our powers and stuff. So we had some really experienced heroes-- like Power Girl and Stargirl, who was always my favourite-- and then we had people like me and the second Wildcat."

[identity profile] patenting.livejournal.com 2011-10-10 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Power Girl and Stargirl? What kind of powers did they have? Super strength and ... making meteors fall on people or something?"
windwitch: (excitement)

[personal profile] windwitch 2011-10-10 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Power Girl has a lot of powers actually! But yeah, super strength was one of them. She could also fly and do lots of other cool stuff. Stargirl had a cosmic rod that let her do a lot of things-- like fly and and shoot energy. She's also strong and fast, and really nice, too!"
