Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Why, is it important business? But you just got here!" He tilts his head curiously, a natural movement amidst the unnatural 'clueless but well-intentioned dumbass' routine he's doing.

"Just because I got to this ship doesn't mean I don't have stuff to worry about," He scoffed, shifting his stance a bit and lulling his head ever so slightly to the side to look at the kid in annoyance. "And I don't need people like you harassing me about it."

"Oh, come on, you wake up on a snot pod and you still can't take a breather? Are you one of those people who sleeps with their pager on?" He blinks. "People like me? What do you mean, people like me?"

"Pager?" Ankh only had a vague idea of what that was, so after a moment of befuddlement, he decided to drop that part of the subject by looking away with disinterest and letting out a half-hearted laugh. "Why should I take a breather? There's obviously stuff to be done around here, and I have my own concerns."

"Idiots that talk to everyone they meet and act annoyingly friendly," He added, looking back at the kid and jerking his head at him. "I've dealt with them before. It's a nuisance."

"Why, there other people from your world here?"

Howard pretends to not get the hint that by 'them', Ankh's referring to him. "Oh, yeah, I hate those kinds of people. I mean, some people just want to be left alone, right?"

Ankh gave Howard a narrow look, as if he were thinking about whether or not to answer that question. After awhile he gave in, though his look didn't let up. "Yeah. Saw 'em earlier."

Ankh looked away again and inhaled; looks like he was trying to contain his temper and not flip at the guy. Rates of success were iffy. "I'm surprised that you've survived for so long then."

"You sound about as happy to see your friends as I would be to see mine." Howard grins and winks. "Just lucky, I guess."

"He's not a friend," Ankh snapped back. "He pisses me off, just like you're doing right now," He added, a threatening tone starting to creep into his voice.

"Yeah, that's why I was sarcastic when I said 'friend'." Howard sneaks his hand onto the medal case, trying to discern what it is through touch and continue the conversation enough to keep Ankh distracted.

"I'm surprised someone like you is--" Ankh cut himself off when he felt his grip on the case tighten, and jerked his head down to discover Howard trying to take it away.

At first there was a look of panic on his face; he jumped and took a step back, moving the medal case to his other hand and grabbing the front of Howard's shirt with his now free right hand; only now it was outfitted in red and black with miniature wings, covered by his Greeed arm, and he was letting his anger out full force on the teen. "Hey! What do you think you're doing?!"

Oh, so apparently that case is really important! Good to know! Also good to know about the freaky arm, although Howard's had one bad experience too many with people and their freaky arms. No thank you, Ankh.

He thrashes and tries to slip out of his t-shirt and get away. "Let me go, asshole!"

Initially Ankh just tightened his grip and kept glaring. "If I catch you trying to take that again, I'll kill you."

His grip tightened some more because of the struggling, but eventually his tongue ticked in annoyance and he gave up, releasing Howard, but not without giving him a slight shove out of anger.

And that is Howard's cue to hightail it out of here! He doesn't doubt Ankh's threat for a second. Howard disappears into the crowd, fully intending to look up Ankh's medical file later.

Ankh would've smirked if he were in a better mood, but he was at least glad the annoyance was gone. That medical file was certainly going to be an interesting read at least.

Mind if I have Howard try and steal the medals case? Ankh is free to catch him in the act, of course
