Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Sorry, but as far as I know, no one by the name of Tifa is on board. She may simply be in the pods, awaiting future release." He hesitated for a moment. "You can always post a message on the comms in case one of your companions is on board. Not everyone comes down here every time there's a release."

It was an honest compliment, Cloud! Lots of people had swords on the ship.

Figures. If it was that easy, he would have found her by now. At the suggestion of using the comms, Cloud simply shook his head. There was no point in pushing for further disappointment, he was well aware now that she was likely still trapped in the pods he had the unfortunate pleasure of waking from.

"Is there a way I can get any of my friends out sooner?" Because if he had to, he'd gladly use the 'nice sword' in his hands to speed up the process.

Zouichi held up a hand. "I wouldn't recommend it. The story is that the people still in the pods are... in an unstable state. It's best not to try and wake them up before they wake up on their own, or you might harm them by mistake. Otherwise, I think everyone would be in there trying to get their friends out."

He figured that option was out of the question, but it wouldn't stop him from trying if he knew it was feasible. The only thing stopping him was the mention of possibly doing more harm than good in terms of freeing them. Better to be safe than sorry. "Then what am I supposed to do? Just wait?"

"It's basically the only thing you can do," said Zouichi. "Wait, and protect them so they'll be safe when they wake up."

Although who knew how long that would take?

"And then what? I wait and protect them so that we're all awake and stuck here?" He asked, trying hard not to come off harsh but was finding it increasingly difficult to remain calm about this. Did they really expect him to just ease into this without finding it a little disconcerting?

"I am planning on bring this conflict to a close as swiftly as possible," said Zouichi, manner suddenly changed. "I don't know about you, but I'm not planning to be 'stuck' here forever."

Cloud might not have meant to offend, but Zouichi considered it his sworn duty to do all he could to complete his original mission -- and to do that, he first had to put an end to the Ohm war.

"How long has this conflict been going on?" asked Cloud, hoping to get more answers than what was already read on the omnicon. "You're not the only one who wants to return home, but I'd like to have a clear idea on just how long this may take."

Whatever, Zouichi didn't have to sit here and field questions from someone who was going to alternate between insulting what he was doing and treating him like an information kiosk.

"If you want to know more about the war, I'd suggest looking it up for yourself in the Media Library," he said in clipped tones. "If you'll excuse me."

With that, he turned swiftly on his heel, heading off in another direction.

Well. That certainly could have gone better.

Truthfully, he knew that his reaction was likely a bit harsh given the nature of the situation, but one only notice these things until after the damage is done. All it took was but a few words to turn what should have been a casual meeting into an unusual show of pride on both ends. He noted the curt response to his question and would have spoke on it had he not made quick haste to excuse himself from the unwanted situation.

On that note, Cloud turned and slipped even further through the crowds to give himself as much needed space as possible between himself and the rest of the refugees present. He wasn’t making any good impressions by being this high strung, so to save himself further embarrassment and unwanted confrontations, hiding was his only option.

Perhaps their next meeting would be on better terms. Hopefully.
