Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

After the fiasco of the Master being hatched out of the pods last time, River had taken a more militant approach when it came to meeting the new arrivals. She couldn't keep an eye out for every potential enemy that popped from a pod, but she could damn well try.

Without the TARDIS, it's impossible for her to recognize this version of the Doctor. He's far too young and she hasn't reached that point in her time stream. Still, there's something about his face that gives her pause. She's seen it somewhere before. She just can't place where. It's somewhere among the photographs of his many regenerations that are hidden among her book of spoilers.

Still, she'd had less to go on last time when the Master had arrived. Best go with her instincts on this one.

"Hullo there."

The Doctor turned around from where he was standing to face River, not being able to place a name to her face regrettably. Although, that wasn't a reason to not be civil towards her. After all, he had no reason to go on the defensive here just yet.

"'Ello!" he said, waving his hand. He tried to handle the items he had in his hands so that he could shake hands with her in the process. "What's your name?"

It wasn't too disconcerting for her. Not yet. She assumed since he didn't know her, he couldn't be the Doctor. The Doctor knew her, he always knew her.. He couldn't possibly forget about her. Smiling, extends her hand towards him for a hand shake. He couldn't be the Doctor. He just couldn't be. Yet she felt this eery feeling....

"I'm Doctor River Song. And you?"

The Doctor shakes River's hand, giving it a nice, firm shake. He gives her a smile in return - though, he never really stopped smiling unless if something made him mad.

"The Doctor, just 'the Doctor' will do. It's a pleasure to meet you, River!"

The look on her face when he mentioned his name. So flippantly and full of pomp - he might as well have stabbed her in the heart. She should have known just by looking into his eyes. He was young. Far too young to know her and knowing this was her near future was quite disheartening.

"You don't know me at all, do you?" She reaches to touch his face. Far too intimate for his tastes most likely.

The Doctor's smile falls when he saw River's face. Had he said something wrong with just his name? He knows that his name was something that could be taken the wrong way, but he tries to be as kind as he could to people. His eyes soften, worry creasing his brow.

When she went to touch his face, he didn't know what to do. Did he have a connection with this woman in front of him and he wasn't aware of it yet?

"... No, I don't. I'm sorry - have we met somewhere before?" he finally says, looking down at her with a calm, but yet concerned expression now.

It was a moment she knew would have to happen eventually and yet when faced with the reality of it - it hurt way more then she had anticipated it would. The Doctor, this Doctor had forgotten about her. Or rather, he hadn't met her yet. They'd always had a relationship that was boarderline paradoxical. Knowing him before he'd met her. Him knowing her before she'd rightly met him. Traveling backwards through each other's time streame.

"Oh my god, your eyes." It was hard not to notice them now that she has her hands on his face. "So young. Of course you don't know me." Why had Stacy brought another Doctor here? It was one more person she had to watch out for and it was hard enough to keep an eye on the bow tie one.

Pulling her hands back, she wipes at the corner of her eyes which had become moist with tears she could never rightly shed. Eleven was still here. She hadn't lost the Doctor entirely, she had to keep telling herself that. "I'm sorry, that was a bit forward of me, wasn't it? Well, you'll be glad to know that your lovely TARDIS is here, along with a splendid array of both past, present, and future companions. Also, your future regeneration is here."

The way all of this was coming together worried him and also got him very curious as a result. The Doctor wants to know just what kind of connection he had with the woman - River Song - in front of him. His mind throws together all sorts of possibilities of just how he met her, but he didn't come to a logical conclusion on the matter. What made her so special to him? Why didn't - or couldn't, rather - remember just what sort of relationship they had.

However, he forces himself out of those thoughts for now. He supposes that he could ask her later on when he managed to gather his bearings here on Stacy. Though, this problem was one of the ones that was high on his priority list, so it wasn't as if he was going to simply ignore it and move on with his life. The Doctor could give her that much for now, but he wants to try to help her out as much as possible. After all, that was what he had set forth to do from when he was still an old, graying man.

"It's okay," he says finally, giving her a little smile. He listens to what she said and nodded. He was glad to hear that the TARDIS was here, as well as his companions. But, what gives him pause was the future regeneration part.

"...I'm sorry? Did you say 'future regeneration'?" he asks, confused on the matter. Did something happen like when he met his fifth incarnate or no? Well, here was the time to get all the facts, so he waits for her to explain.

Well, good luck trying to figure River Song and your future wonky relationship with her out. Future-you still can't make heads or tails of this yet, so step in line!

"Oh yes. Stacy is very clever. She can somehow prevent all of time and space from collapsing in on itself with two Doctors on the same ship. Dunno how she does it, but there have been two Doctors onboard before." This has all become so mundane for River that she sounds so flippant and nonchalant when she explains it.

This was going to be very fun, the Doctor surmised. Or confusing. Or a combination of them both. He has quite a lot of things to figure out still and felt like this was the perfect place to do just that.

He is still confused, but River's explanation helped to some extent. "Well, she has to be a wonderful ship," he says with a smile. Already, he could find himself liking Stacy, but not as much as his precious TARDIS, though.
