Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"You seem to be handling things pretty well." Splicer's voice came from nearby, further hinted by the puff of smoke he had just let out as he leaned back against one of the fleshy walls.

He had been doing some setting up for the crew's command and was now taking a break to check out the new crew members.

He was obviously a terrible judge of character, she didn't feel like she was handling it well at all. Then again...

"There are worse things then having a planet full of disgusting useless monsters destroyed." She mumbled. After all she could be dead...again.

Well, she seemed better than some of the one's he'd seen before!

"Ha! Aren't you in for a treat then. Landin' on a ship with a crew that is supposed to win the war against the 'useless disgusting monsters' that destroyed your world with the same types huh? It's not that bad of a deal really, jus' messin'" Sort of.

"Different monsters, same day." She responded but not bothering to explain that when she said monsters, she had meant normal humans.

"And who are you exactly?" Not terribly polite, but she wasn't in a polite mood.

"Me? Nobody." He said with certainty. "Jus' another crew member in this oh-so wonderful vessel. But you can call me Splicer if you so wish." He gave a nod and grinned, taking another drag of his cigarette.

[identity profile] umadbear.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Splicer." Well he was either the lead the lead vocals in a grunge rock band or a NEXT. Yes! This was sound logic in her book.

"And they allow you to smoke on this ship? Doesn't that go against most science fiction?"

[identity profile] expendable-mind.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"What? Naw, hell, I used ta smoke with my combat armor on. And I'll be damned if anyone makes me quit." Seriously... There'd be no taking of the few things he enjoyed doing besides killing!

[identity profile] umadbear.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Kriem thought about the absurdity of smoking inside combat armor and couldn't help but chuckle "And do they have some place that sells cigarettes here?" Not that she was interested, but it made for nice distracting conversation.

"Psh, I wish. But I make sure to stock up at every shore leave. Make sure I have enough to last me for a long while. If they're available of course."

He'll be damned if he ever runs out!

[identity profile] umadbear.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Shore leave! She hadn't thought about that.

"How does shore leave work?" She asked hopefully. If she couldn't find anything on the ship worth living for maybe some alien planet would serve. If not it would at least provide her with some creative ways to die.

[identity profile] expendable-mind.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
He raised a brow and smirked.

"Jus' like any shore leave would. We dock, crew gets some time off to not go insane, then we come back on board. We get a small pay for being here and such, like a salary. We can use that to buy things or take some of our things to trade and such."

[identity profile] umadbear.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"And does this happen often?" Because now she was wondering if aliens had plush toys. That might actually be fun to play with!

Maybe strange new alien games.

"Does it happen often?" Because she could really use a break.

"Eh, it's hard to tell with how fucked up time runs around here. But you can bet that there probably will be one not long after new crew pops from the pods."

He hated how time ran in the place, but he figured it wasn't that bad in the long run.

[identity profile] umadbear.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
"What do you mean how time runs, how else can time run but forward?" Obviously time could travel backward if it felt like it but she thought she might notice something like that.

[identity profile] expendable-mind.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
"It's different here. It won't run back? But it doesn't run normally like in other places. It can go slower, it can stop, or it can move faster. It's however the damn ship pleases at the moment."
