Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

She frowned at being spoken to, she really would have been perfectly content to fade a way into nothingness but it would be rude not to respond.

"Of coarse not."

Because saying it like that was so much more polite.

Okay, oblique approach not recommended. He tilted his head slightly, acknowledging her response.

"It is a lot to take in. But as someone may have explained to you already, your world may not be lost forever. If you're concerned about anyone you know, I've been here for a little while, so I might be able to tell you if they're here or not."

She glanced at him with obvious suspicion, trusting strangers was not typically recommended, and yet could she really pass up the chance to ask? After all she should be dead and she was here...perhaps...

"Jake Martinez." She answered slowly, "He's this tall, blond hair, rippling muscles, deep powerful eyes that draw you in..." she caught herself but it was too late and she was flushed.

Zouichi wasn't the type to judge her for being infatuated with someone (although he was now under the impression that Jake was her boyfriend). He shook his head. "There's a Jake on board, but I'm afraid he doesn't match the description of the person you're looking for. There's no reason he can't still be in the pods, though -- it might just be a matter of time before he's released."

He paused. "...Sorry. I wish I could tell you differently." After all, she seemed pretty taken with the guy.

That little flicker of hope was tugging at her. Nibbling on her like a mosquito she couldn't swat away.

"There has to be some way to find out." She insisted with a sudden fire in her eyes. "I have to know for sure."

He frowned a little, but tried to put it as gently as he could. "You can certainly ask over the comms if someone's seen him, but... there are millions of pods in there. Even if you did find him, it's best to wait until he wakes up on his own. For his own safety."

Zouichi hesitated a moment before offering, "In the meantime, you could get to know the ship... perhaps he'd appreciate having someone close to him who can explain how things work around here. Someone that could help him navigate the area."

Even if Zouichi hadn't meant it, that sounded oddly pandering to Kriem. Still he had a point, if by some stroke of fate Jake was still alive he'd want his most loyal person at his side.

"Perhaps your right." She conceded but having unfounded hope was difficult for her. She'd spent at least two decades with nothing but hope that someday she would set free her most beloved from the cell he had been locked away in.

After all that work how much hope could any one person have left?

Zouichi was mostly trying to dissuade her while trying not to mention that if she tried to break Jake out of a pod, his soul would fall out or something. Because even he found that hard to believe. Yes. Even after four podpops.

He nodded. "Anyway, I think the guide they should have given you goes over all the basics. If you need anything else, let me know. Otherwise, I should probably be on my way."

She nodded allowing him to leave and for the first time glanced at the communicator that had been given to her.

At least when Jake was in jail she knew he was still alive. Could she really hold out hope much longer?
