Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

He frowns a moment, glancing toward the great observation window. None of it is remotely familiar...and frankly it's a little difficult to say if that's more unsettling than the almost not-quite stars of Pete's World or not.

"I...have no idea. If Ms Stacy is right," code for 'telling the truth', "then I doubt any of us will recognize the constellations. Different universes, different constellations entirely."

Well, no. He does tend to draw the line at sapient beings as far as licking people goes.

"Ms" Stacy? Huh. Talk about polite! He hasn't heard a lot of folks running around calling their ships Ms or Mr anything. Moya and Pilot would probably love this guy, he thinks, turning to follow the Doctor's gaze out the window. It's so big that John finds it dizzying and he guesses it's probably one of those human things, the part where he's simply not hardwired like Sebaceans to be instantly comfortable with seeing a big void out there. John watches the Doctor. He doesn't seem to have any problems with it at all.

"So you really think we're in a different universe entirely?" He'd just gotten used to the idea of being shot to another part of the galaxy. Another universe? John's still struggling to wrap his head around that one. "There's got to be someone who came from around here. Maybe we could try to get a common reference point."

Actually that's less respectful than a nudge at the ship that he doesn't entirely believe her story, and not necessarily even her name. But then again it's not really disrespect, either. Traveling seven hundred years with a mostly-sentient ship will hard-wire you to treat other sentient ships with a certain automatic respect.

"Eh...wouldn't be able to until we've stopped, and even then we'd need special equipment to measure which universe we've landed in and where in that universe we are. It's a tricky process, constellations will be inherently different in ways you'll never expect." He has his hands on his hips because he has no pockets, and rocks on his heels, watching the image outside the great glassy eyes. "Or we could go down and ask the nearest locals every time."
