Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Kaya was around this pod pop, once again glad that she'd had some time off of med bay duties. She had wanted to see who needed help adjusting, she still remembered how overwhelming everything had been for her when she pod popped (and when she had done it again, and how freaked out she'd been there).

And then she just happened to see him: sitting on one of the chairs, looking pretty traumatized. Well, maybe that was the wrong word, but he definitely didn't look happy.

"Are you all right?" She asked soothingly. "This must be overwhelming for you, but it does get easier, trust me! I'm Kaya, of the Northern Water Tribe back at my home...if it was still around."

Cedric was starting to feel a little better. Instead of continuing to argue about whether he was dead or alive, he'd moved on to more important matters, like this apparent war that they were fighting. If they fought hard enough, he could rescue his other friends. Had only the ones who died on their planet been rescued? It seemed like a strange way to go about things if anyone asked him. You'd want to get the ones who'd escaped dangerous situations alive.

He looked up at his new companion, quickly introduced to her name and the home she'd lost. "I'm sorry you lost it too. I'm Cedric, Cedric Diggory of Hufflepuff House---or I'd be if it still existed."

What? It was the closest thing to a tribe he had.

"Hufflepuff...that sounds strangely familiar to me." Why? Was it something she has read about in the media library? No, there was something more, something she SHOULD be remembering.

Oh well. It would come to her.

"It's always one of the hardest things to come to terms with: you have a place you live one moment, then you're here, naked and told you have a mission to deal with. It was pretty difficult for me too. Can I help you, with anything?"

"You've heard of Hogwarts, then? It's one of the four houses there. I know people say we're not too bright, but they're wrong. We're as good as any other house."

Or...they were. That he might never see his housemates again still stung.

"I haven't heard about the fights yet. What are they like? When am I fighting?" Cedric placed a hand on his wand wrist for comfort, hoping it was going to be enough to carry him through.

"Hogwa...that's it! It's one of the four houses, isn't it?! That one and...Gr...Griffyndor and Slytherin! You're one of Luna's friends from her school, you must be! You know, Luna Lovegood, from...uh...R-avenclaw, that's the one!"

Now she was proud of herself.

"So you're a wizard then, just like her! Oh, you want to know about what we're fighting. Hmm. You know those dark wizards you had to fight? Imagine them like the Ohm, except much, much stronger, with no real way of speaking to them, and they blow up planets indiscriminately."

"That's right," Cedric nodded, pleased that someone else knew who they had been. He definitely hadn't seen her around school, though. Was she from a different time, or...

Oh. She knew Luna Lovegood, the third year girl he'd run into on patrols. "We weren't close, but I did know her. It's hard not to bump into her on school patrols. She liked to be in places that other people wouldn't go near."

Cedric winced at the explanation. Yes, that sounded bad. "Okay. Do they have any weaknesses? I've just got to figure out how to fight when I meet one."

"That sounds so like her!" Kaya chuckled. "She was here for a little while, actually. I learned a bit about magic and your world from her: wands, death eaters, and a bit about Harry Potter and his friends. She was a pretty eccentric girl, but I really grew to like her. I missed her hen she was podded."

She sighed. "That's just it: there are many different kinds of Oh, different fighting classes, everything. You might actually want someone with magical fighting experience to talk to yoiiu about that."
