Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Sounds kind of like my dog..." he mused as he turned to the newcomer. Brothers, then. The face wasn't familiar so Jr. assumed the two of them had woken up together. And then he thought about how lucky they were to.

"Did you just wake up, too?" he asked Yukio.

"Yes, nii-san and his familiar are very much alike." Of course he was ignoring the fact that he used to be a crybaby who couldn't do anything for himself, but that was a different time from now.

Yukio dropped his hands to his side, at least attempting to give the appearance of being amiable, even though he felt anything but, right now. "I did 'wake up' today. Have you been here for some time, then?"

Rin simply blinked a few times, looking between the two before stepping to the side to look around. He didn't quite get what exactly they were talking about. Only thing he remembers about waking up, is that stupid dream and those goopy, sludge things that he was in for whatever reason. Details didn't really matter to him however.

"Ah, well in that case." Jr. gave them both a semi-sympathetic look. At least to show them that it wasn't going to be as bad as they might have thought. "It's probably all really weird and impossible to take in, but ... you get used to it, like it or not." He nodded, as if affirming it to himself. "I've been awake for a while, too."

'Impossible to take in' would be putting it lightly.

"'Like it or not'...I see. Could you inform us of what amenities lie on this 'ship'? Rin, please don't wander off on your own," he immediately added, not missing a beat.

[identity profile] cobalt-inferno.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Psh, I wasn't going anywhere." Rin shot back with an annoyed glance before walking a bit off and leaning against one of the fleshy walls.

Man, what was the point of being in a place like this and he couldn't even go exploring!

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"You don't have to like it ... I know a lot of us don't. But since we're all in this together, it's better sometimes, to try and accept it and be open to at least compromising to get things done. But that's also because we still don't have a ton of information on our side yet, either."

He looked over to Rin and the cat briefly. "There are generic sleeping halls for the whole crew, which there are always more than enough of. Hope you don't mind the feeling of sleeping in someone's lungs or stomach or something, though. There are also a bunch of places in the city on top of a bunch of empty ones. You can explore all of that yourself whenever you settle in and want to start getting a good look around. There are the Sensoriums which are like virtual reality. Hydroponics for growing things. There's a Media Library and a hangar, too."

He would have to arrange for them their own quarters when he had the chance. The beings on the ship were diverse in nature and some, quite honestly, looked ridiculous, but that was no reason to drop their guard. They didn't know Rin was a demon and it would be best if it stayed that way.

Mention of the Media Library and Sensoriums caught his attention, though. "Is access open to these places at any time? Also, I would be appreciative if you explained the Sensorium in further detail."

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Yep! Pretty much. It's tough as is to keep a steady track of real time and day and night on the ship."

He shifted his weight, eyebrows furrowing as he tried to think of the best way to describe the Sensoriums. Comparing it to the Encephalon was easy, but nobody on Stacy knew what that was.

"They're basically empty rooms you walk into. And whatever you think up, it'll take the images from your memory and reconstruct them around you. Sometimes Stacy'll fill in some smaller gaps, too. Here's an example: when we want to go through a battle we fought, either for training or to try and take notes on the enemy's movements, Stacy'll construct the battle from what we remember. But if other people were in there beforehand and thinking of the same battle from their point of view, she'll add that into any future simulations for us, just so we have various viewpoints to look at."

[identity profile] twin-shot.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The description of a device so high-tech was actually quite astonishing to him and he couldn't help but inquire further.

"So it's full-body virtual reality in a 3-D space, based on mental imaging? Interesting. Can we fully interact with both objects on our self and in the virtual space while immersed?" Things really were a bit ridiculous, here.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep! We can't bring our units into the Sensoriums with us, after all. So when it comes to training in battle simulations it gets the job done."

[identity profile] twin-shot.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Another thing I'm curious about are the positions that various people hold, other than officials. Departments? A rank or class system, perhaps? I'm very adept at Medical knowledge and Rin..." Yukio glanced over his shoulder at his sour-faced twin for a moment. He turned back before the shorter man could spot him and leveled his gaze on Jr.

"And Rin will be useful as well."

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"There are a bunch of different departments depending on what kind of skills you excel at," he explained, more than happy to oblige.

"We've got Security-- I'm part of Security. Engineering, Medical, Weapons Development, if you know how to pilot we have the Starfighter Command, too. Mechanics, Magic ... basically if you can do anything, there's probably something useful for you to do here."

[identity profile] twin-shot.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I see. You all have many of your bases covered already. I have no further questions for now, but I do thank you for your assistance," he said, giving the other boy a slight bow.

"Nii-san," Yukio called, glancing over his shoulder once more. "If you have any questions you want to ask, please do so while our crewmate is being generous with his time."
