Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"What? This pen tablet thing or whatever?" he raised his omnicomm idly and shrugged. "Not really, I wasn't really paying much attention. Should I read it?"

It was an honest question. If Rin didn't NEED to, he wouldn't do it.

At the latter assessment, "Wait what?! What is that supposed to mean! I have plenty of those things and more!" Except knowledge!

Blackie smiled, seeing as they still had each other barring that he didn't know what had happened.

Rin, you should probably read it if Yukio read it. It must be important.

"It's fine for now," he replied, snatching the omnicom from his brother and pocketing the little device. If he read this here and now, he'd most certainly lose control of himself. They couldn't risk harming others or worse when they'd just arrived.

Yukio arched a thin eyebrow when Rin questioned him again and raised his arms to fold them once again. "It means exactly what it sounds like, nii-san. What kind of joke is it to say that you possess all of those traits and more?"

Okay, okay, he could give Rin partial marks for having physical strength, but that was really all he could do.

"You know I do! And you know I'm trying! Would I really go through all that stupid studying and training if I wasn't?!"

Okay, so he hated studying, be he still did so! When he remembered!

He blinked a few times, remembering that he had just lost something. "H-hey! Why'd you take that away?! I always wanted one of those!" Of course they never had the money to afford one.

Yukio was trying to keep his voice low and to a respectable level, so he really hoped Rin would stop YELLING EVERY TIME HE SPOKE.

"You're dedicated to the idea of being an exorcist, but that requires follow-through with both your studies and training; it's not just something you can do whenever you fancy it, especially with this new change of events. You have physical strength, yes, but it's more than that. It's self-discipline, being able to keep a cool head in hectic situations."

Yukio raised a hand and began counting off a finger for each point he made and was very successful at keeping skepticism out of his voice and off his face.

"I wouldn't call 'taking my sword out and slashing at things', or 'burning everything with fire before thinking of a strategy' skill, but perhaps we have a different definition of the word. Do I even need to mention 'knowledge' with how often I have to get on you to do simple homework?"

This is called tough love, Rin. He's being harsh because he cares about you, but you'll never catch him admitting it.

"I'll hold on to it for now. You're going to be talking to people and exploring this place, anyways." His brother might actually feel compelled to read it, now that he'd nagged him a bit. Really, he was just delaying a disaster.

Rin frowned, but Yukio, as always, was right...

"Well, when you put it that way..." He kept his hands in his pockets, but looked away, clearly annoyed. It seemed that no matter what progress he made, it'd never be good enough for his brother.

Rin? Rin? You know he's just looking out for you right? You know he believes in you. Blackie nuzzled up against his neck and crawled over to his other shoulder and settled down.

He knew Blackie was right, sometimes he just felt like he was a burden to Yukio. But that wouldn't be for long, he'd become a Paladin for sure!

"Anyways, so. What the hell are we supposed to be doing here?"

Seeing the deep-set frown on his twin's face served to sober him just a bit.

It's for your own good, Rin. Overcoming this is impossible for you right now, so you have to work even harder at it. Even more-so than the exorcist examination that he was supposed to take in six months' time.

"We can go meet the other crew members and see the rest of this place, nii-san. Maybe there'll be food."

He wasn't aware of what horrors of 'food' were in store for them.

At the mention of food, Rin's mood picked up almost immediately. He had forgotten how hungry he was.

"Yeah! I'm down for that. Haha." He grinned goofily and looked back to Yukio.

"Well, where do we go to?" Since Yukio took his thing, that thing that had stuff on it.

[identity profile] dual-meister.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Rin would get that thing with the stuff on it back later, promise.

"Let's find out about the other places aboard this ship, first. Then we can see about a meal."

He was going to stick next to Rin the entire time, of course. Change of locale didn't change what his brother was and having his twin talk off the ears of others would also give him much needed time to think and try to come to terms with their new reality. And what he was going to let Rin know of that.
