Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Cargn had sensed something...peculiar, in this podpop.

Normally he would be unconcerned with new arrivals, but every so often something piqued his interest. This time, he sensed the tell-tale mental residue that Astartes psycho-conditioning left on one's mind coming from one of the new arrivals. He only briefly skimmed the surface of the psychic emanations coming from each of the new arrivals, but when he had sensed that, he decided he should investigate personally.

And so he arrived, standing 11 feet tall in his ancient suit of Terminator Armor, his massive warding staff in his hand. He briefly scanned the crowd of new arrivals, but the one he was looking for wasn't difficult to pick out.

"Greetings, Brother," Cargn said to Erhart, mentally cursing his luck that it would be a Black Templar of all possibilities.

"Brother." Erhart responds automatically, nodding to the Terminator-armored knight respectfully.

"I am Erhart Ritter, Knight of the Eternal Crusade, Emperor's Champion of Marshal Sturm's fighting company. Who do I have the honor of addressing?"

He looks up at the terminator armored figure, somewhat dwarfed in his Astartes Battle plate, but still towering over most at some 8 1/2 feet tall.

"Grandmaster Cargn Thane, Battle Brother of the Grey Knights and Seer of Titan. Well met, Brother Ritter."

He figured he'd not bother dancing around the whole psyker issue. Black Templars were so blunt and immature about that sort of thing. Better to get it over with sooner rather than later.

"I have not heard of your order previously. I would say it is a pleasure, but I find our circumstances... unfortunate. From what the filthy Xenos have said, you have been here longer than I, and know the truth of things. Illuminate me, that I may best serve the Emperor and Humanity."

The idea that Thane is a psyker has obviously not really registered to Erhart yet. Mostly because he's not walking around with a blue painted suit of plate like most of them do.

Cargn was speechless for a moment. Were all Black Templar this slow to comprehend?

He thought at least the staff would have given him away.

"Mine is...a reclusive order. We keep to ourselves when not engaging the Emperor's enemies."

"The Xenos machine spirit speaks the truth. Our reality is gone, but hope remains, and the Emperor still has work for us to perform. We may restore our world in time by the Emperor's grace and power, but first we must battle the Xenos known as the Ohm. You should access Tactica Imperialis files on the Tyranids for an idea of how they operate, though the Ohm are far more powerful."

"There is much work to do, Brother. Are you up for the challenge?"

"While I cannot trust the word of an Iron man, to hear it from a battle-brother puts things in perspective."

When asked about the challenge, Erhart simply nods and says, "I have vowed to accept any challenge, no matter what the odds." He pauses, touching the crusader seals on his armor. "As for the Tyranids, I have heard of them, though I was never in a major Crusade against them. Our foes were other Xenos in the Ghoul Stars, and of course Orks on Armageddon and near Cadia."
