Time for a Talk [Closed to Command Staff]

Kirk had done some poking around on his own initiative, after Cybil informed him about the precinct. He'd found it easily enough - it just took some looking around the city. He'd been a bit staggered by all of it. It simply confirmed how huge Stacy was and how little of it they'd really explored. All the more reason to get moving quickly. Cybil had also been quite correct in regards to being able to use it for a meeting place - the actual meeting rooms were something of a relief and quite distinct from the usual huddle on the observation deck.

He'd alerted the command staff of the time and place via a quick, direct use of the comm-rings and left it at that. Now, all he had to do was wait.

"I'm only suggesting that the efforts to give this creature a fair trial could get out of hand. My own feelings aside, we cannot allow vigilantism to run unchecked in the crew." Picard would have sighed, but he was fairly certain he'd met his quota for the month. "This ... Yeerk will be held under additional security. I'd rather its trial went smoothly, or at least as smoothly as possible on this damn ship."

"Mister Kennedy, make it so," Picard continued. "Hopefully, with counseling and someone to talk to, Mister Winchester can work his way through these difficulties and we won't have to worry about a future attempt from him. What he needs is help and counseling, not reprobation for his own feelings on the matter. I'm hardly the right person to condemn him for what he wanted to do. None of us are."

< Hopefully I can at least get Sam Winchester to eat, but counseling may be good for him. Many who come back from a Yeerks control often experience trauma. If we have someone like that onboard, I might recommend all the infested talk to them at least once to be sure they are not merely repressing their own problems. > Elfangor suggested. He hadn't thought about it before, but it would probably be a good idea.

< I would also like to volunteer for the security of the trial. For those with any violent intentions, seeing the other natives of that universe might make them think that the trial is the right idea. >

"I'd volunteer for security," says Cybil, "but that'll likely be conflict of interest, given I may be called as a witness."

She doesn't disagree with the counseling.

She just doesn't need it herself.

"I'd also volunteer for trial security, unless I'm called on as a witness. I was only present for the fighting and think it unlikely." Just about anyone who was on the ship during that whole fiasco could describe the fighting well enough, as far as he's concerned.

He has no experience with anyone being recovered from a parasite's control. The nearest thing he's met to Yeerks is the Flood, and Flood victims are as good as dead.

"If you think it would help, get them spoken to. We don't need another Sam Winchester."

He's long since learned that nothing on this boat goes off without a hitch. This is just yet another snag, not the first and surely not the last.
