A Housewarming Party for a Castle

Celestia's new home was a grand residence indeed: the citadel of Camelot, a place which featured heavily in the myths and legends of Earth. Not that Celestia was familiar with these myths, of course.

Guests were free to wonder around the castle at will, but Celestia had decided that today, the courtyard would be a lovely place for everypony to get together. There were a few tables set up, with the treats Hoshi and Applejack had so generously made, and Rarity's beautiful decorations. And later, Celestia planned to invite her guests to ride on the Ferris wheel that happened to be located just outside the castle.

The crewmembers had suffered a great loss recently, but she hoped that this would bring them some small amount of joy, and the comfort of friendship in this time.

[[ooc: Sorry this is a day late guys, uni ended up being much more hectic yesterday than I expected. Anyways, I've put up a subthread for Celestia greeting visitors and rides on the London Eye. Those that ICly helped out this party can also set up sub-threads for the food tables/games/whatever as well, if you guys want to. (Edit: The sub-thread for Hoshi & Applejack's nibbles is up here!)

But other than that, feel free to start your own threads and tag each other. People can also wonder around and explore the castle - it's the BBC Merlin version of Camelot, but only the citadel itself (as opposed to the whole city).]]

"I'm sure that's a better way to think about things," Kaya said. "It's the shock, I think, that's getting to me: I saw him alive only several hours ago, and he seemed so unstoppable. I know that's a silly thing to say, he's probably the same as anyone else, but its still sad."

It was hard, she knew, to act as if everything was OK after she'd so many deaths. "I'm just trying to deal with it all, I guess."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see. Do make sure to take your time coming to terms with these events, then? I think I might be inclined to worry if you did anything but," he explained.

As soon as he'd finished speaking, he leaned over and placed a quick peck on her lips and then settled back in his seat as if nothing had occurred. "Until then, try not to be too depressed; it might impede your work."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaya might have given him a stern look if she knew it was not Nokosi, who tended to make things as sensible (in his world) as possible. She nodded, sighing a bit. It would take time, honestly, when her resolve had come s close to shaking in those last few hours. But she was strong: she would overcome it.

The kiss to the lips, though, would not go unanswered for: she grabbed his hands and kissed back, passionately, that closeness with him like a breath of fresh air. "I don't think I can stay that depressed with you around. I never got to thank you for those things you gave me while I was doctoring."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The fervor in her actions caught him by surprise, if only a bit, and he returned it in earnest.

The ferris wheel flashed to life and he turned to look up and over the side, though he still had a hold on one of her hands. "You do not need to thank me, Kaya. As long as you were able to get some use out of it, I am glad."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
She didn't mind taking him by surprise, not at all: it was actually a bonus, that she would be able to act at least a little normal for a few hours.

Kaya did smile when the ferris wheel came to life though: it was the first time she had ever ridden on such a thing. "Do these kinds of things exist, where you're from?"

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I have never seen one at the Darkmoon Faire or any other place for that matter, so I would say no. I have seen Gnomes and Dwarves fly around in noisy contraptions, though. They are big, made of metal, bolts, oil and a spinning blade," he said, circling a finger in the air to illustrate. "Ronnae said they are called 'Gyrocoptors'; she made one, herself."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaya laughed. "Oh, man made machines. I've seen those before, definitely! But I've never seen a contraption made to be a source of amusement for people like this, you know? But I do like it: look at all you can see from here! It's amazing. Thanks for saying that though: I think I may ask Ronnae to show me a gyrocoptor someday. She seems to brighten whenever anyone mention technology she knows about."

She put her head on his shoulder, sighing. "This is the best I've felt in hours, actually. It seems like a small thing, being on a ride, but its doing wonders for me."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
He leaned over to look out the side as they steadily rose. Excitement was plastered on his face and he pointed to the distance, where they could see the roofs of many buildings in the city. "Yes! It is like being on a gryphon without the risk of them tossing you off due to an insulting comment!" It wasn't experience speaking, but he'd seen some things.

Nokosi glanced back at Kaya and bobbed his head. "She will be glad to show you; perhaps it will inspire her to craft one and you can ride in it," he said, settling back into his seat.

With her head on his shoulder, he curled an arm around her waist and sidled closer. The grin he regarded her with after her confession was a triumphant one. "Good! I will not have to resort to pushing your lips into a smile this time."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Kaya made a face, then burst out laughing. "A gryphon?! What on earth are you talking about? And what kind of animal has such a silly name?"

She smiled. "I hope so. I notice that whenever anything technical is mentioned in her presence, she gets really excited. I'm not too surprised though: its great to be able to show what you're good at, after all."

Kaya shook her head. "Well, its been a trying time, but we're expected to do all we can, right? I guess the reason its so hard is because I'm surrounded by all those poor people, barely before anyone could mourn. All that pain, the explosions, the memories of the Ohm: its pretty ugly in there."

She linked a hand with his. "But the memory of you helped, I'll tell you that much. So in a way, you have been making me smile."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Everything you can see from this height, I mean. It's as if you were riding on a gryphon," he explained, glancing over to the girl. What a gryphon actually was, was far sillier than its name, however.

"As for what it is, it is a large creature that is used by the Alliance for transportation. They have the forelegs, head and wings of an eagle with the hindquarters of a lion. They are really smart--which is why if you insult them they might toss you off them. They also love horses," he explained, beginning to ramble off. He was quick to stop himself, however.

"In any case, I am simply glad that you were able to take a moment out of your hectic life to enjoy yourself," Nokosi said, giving her hand a comforting squeeze. "You will still be plenty busy for awhile?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh," Kaya said. "So I would normally guess that a gryphon is a kind of animal in your world that has wings, like a bird. Interesting."

Really, what was with these worlds where there was only one kind of species of an animal? It was so strange!

Then he actually described the animal. "If a gryphon has those parts, why call him a gryphon instead of, say, an Eaglion, or a Liagle? It seems like that would make sense, wouldn't it?"

She didn't get why it would love horses though. Horses didn't fly too in his world, did they?

"I'll always make time for you, I've told you that before, remember?" Kaya said, squeezing his hand back. "And yes, I'm pretty much living in the medbay at this point: I barely have time to sleep."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because it is not the offspring from those two animals mating, it is an animal that has parts resembling another creature," he replied. "I would not think a centaur would enjoy being called a horse-man just because it looks like one, so why do so for a gryphon?"

He didn't think to clarify that gryphons love eating horses. He thought it was implied.

Nokosi made a face at her troubling admission of a full schedule, but didn't complain about it. Instead, he smoothed a hand over her hair and for once, noted how much shorter she was in comparison to him.

"I really should not be the one who chastises you on such a thing, considering my own erratic sleeping pattern, but you should probably work on getting a full night of rest. The Medbay can live without your presence for a few hours in every day."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-07 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
"In my world, there are seldom any singular anaimals, so its not as if they came abut because of inter species relationships Nokosi," Kaya said. "They just ARE. People have often looked at us as if we're crazy, but that's simply how things are in my world. I don't know how else to describe it, honestly."

She laughed. "I don't mind helping by using my abilities in the way that will benefit those people. It's a decision I simply made after I saw those people in pain, or finding out Superman is dead. Of course I will try to get rest when its possible for me, but more important than that is knowing I can be of help."

Kaya put her hyand over his. "But I think I can be selfish for a few hours, admiring the view with you like this, seeing how hard Celestia and her ponies workes to make this place for people to be happy. That's help in another way too."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-08 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly. That is the reason it would not be called a...Liagle or Eaglion. It just is," the elf said with a shrug. "And you already know you can be of help; the most important goal is already accomplished so there is no need to short yourself on rest."

He paused, his gaze lingering on her face for a long moment before simply sighing. Even he knew that his logic wasn't going to deter her so easily. "I suppose there is no use for it; I will assist you in your work. I may not have any knowledge in magical or supernatural healing abilities, but I am very learned in traditional first aid."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-08 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I get that, I know. But the more you're surrounded by these people in pain, the less you want to take a rest or try to act like its too hard. I want those hurt in there to know I will give a hundred and ten percent to make sure I make them as comfortable as I possibly can, within reason."

Of course within reason: she was still a nurse.

"Wait, what?" That definitely caught her off guard. "What are you talking about? One of the things you like is your ability to come and go where you can. I couldn't possibly ask you to just forgo your time to help me. I mean, we need the help, I'm not an idiot, but wouldn't you rather be in other places on the ship?"

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes," he replied, eyes skimming over building after building as the ferris wheel began its first descent. His fingers moved from her shoulder to her hair to idly twirl wayward strands of hair and tug them straight.

"Which is why, if I mentioned it, it is precisely the place that I wish to be. Will it be an inconvenience to you?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Kaya reddened. She never expected him to say that, and it was like a warm glow had just come over her body, and when he touched her hair there was such a feeing of tenderness in her she had to blink, and quietly compose herself.

She had wondered, briefly, if Nokosi might have regretted events past, but she didn't now. Knowing that made her free to care about him as much as she wanted, and shesmoothed his cheek.

"Somehow, I think I'll manage," she said, and pulled him into a kiss, there, as the ferrish wheel arose to the highest peak again.

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Nokosi was all ready to laugh at Kaya for the current state of her crimson face, but before he could even get out the second 'ha', he was muffled by a pleasant pressure against his mouth.

The combination of soft lips and a gentle caress were doing wonderful things to him and he leaned into the kiss, eager to keep the warm embrace between their mouths. A hand slid beneath her hair to tickle the fine hairs at the nape of her neck, while the other firmly held onto the chilled, metal bar that ran across the seat.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Another fine level of goosebumps ran up her spine, but she deepened the kiss, happy she could finally have this time to spend alone with him. This had turned out to be a good idea after all: even with the lack of actual sunlight and sunset in the city, the view was spectacular.

She wrapped an arm around his waist too, a hand trailing up to run her hands through his hair again. His long was one of the features Kaya might have liked best on him: all purple and perfectly framing his face, along with that serene luck he maintained constantly.

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
It was strange for him, as casually as he was used to seeing kisses passed around in Stormwind. The action hadn't meant much in his eyes previously, but now he was aware of the small things that made all the difference in the world when it came to locking lips.

The hand that previously caressed her neck now smoothed down her back and he pushed her forward, firmly pressing the girl against his form. His lips parted, allowing her access to his mouth and he shut his eyes to further focus on the simplicity of a kiss.

He almost wished it were cold so that he could better appreciate the warmth shared between the closeness of their bodies. Even more-so because he found the pale, pink color that rose to her cheeks in chilled weather, endearing.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Kaya had to admit that all of the horrible things she had been through, all of the pain and fear and nervousness that had followed her since the Ohm attack seemed to melt away. Nokosi had always had a way of making her feel like she could forget her troubles, something that she had always been grateful for. But now that she and he were like this, it did more than simply made her feel better.

The ferris wheel may as well have not been there at all: she felt like she was flying, higher and higher, and with the man who had somehow found a way to at least heal some of the trauma she'd felt in the last few days.

She opened her mouth and caressed her tongue with his, her hands holding him closer. There were no words that she could say to convey her emotions now. She just wanted to hold him close.

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
His grip tightened around her possessively, and perhaps just a little too tightly. It was something he would hardly notice unless it was pointed out to him, but at this moment he was more involved in other matters. Namely, the smooth column of her neck that looked completely delectable in this lighting.

Without thinking, his tongue peeked out to wet his lips and he pressed them against her throat. Small pecks and nips trailed up to her ear where he planted a firm kiss. His many earrings jostled and jingled as he moved his head back down along her neck and the hand that had been clutching the metal bar on the seat found its way along her side.

He was somewhat aware of what was deemed 'appropriate display of affection' in a public setting, though it really all came down to whether he cared or not.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Kaya always seemed to find herself bewildered by the passion that Nokosi possessed. He could be carefree, almost idle, and then he would strike you where you least expected, his ministrations hitting the spots that made you feel all excited and breathless.

Which, for Kaya, was a bad idea: she was liking it, a lot, and had an idea of what some people might say if they were to see the two of them as they were. More importantly, to Kaya anyway, was knowing that this passion could grow at a far more rapid rate than even she could contain.

In the end, she doubted she could trust herself.

"N-nokosi," she whispered. "We should probably take this slow. We're both pretty passionate people."

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
He stopped rather abruptly and rose his gaze to meet hers. The expression on her face caused him to laugh and he untangled his limbs from her body. It was probably a good thing that she spoke up, because he saw absolutely nothing wrong with the rather compromising position they were in.

"You might be right," he said in partial agreement. He playfully flicked her ear as he spoke and managed to straighten up his rumbled clothes in the meantime. "It's strange, I think. I was once told by a rather amorous man that a kiss was the dot on the 'i' of adoration. I did not know what he meant then, but I do now."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
She wondered if he realized how reluctant she was to stop what they were doing: it was not unlike that long time ago, when she was Katara, that she and Aang had gotten very heavy with each other until Stacy had stopped them. Now she was reliving that moment all over again, except she was the one that had to stop herself.

She giggled at the flick, and then blew gently into his ear. "He definitely hit that on the head. Those kisses of yours leave me out of breath, Nokosi!"
