Holes and Patches [OPEN FREE FOR ALL]
After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.
The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.
Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.
[this is a free for all for all your injured! Have them socialize, be thorns in the medics' side, try to escape, or bring the medics together for some action. Just note in your post if you'd like a medic to visit your character---if not, it's time for a chat!]

"I was always going to be injured. There were thousands and thousands of claws out to get us, rivers of acid, explosions everywhere...you can't be everywhere, as wonderful as you are, and I can't expect you to be."
He twisted to face her, taking a brief glance down at himself. Most of his torso was wrapped, but there was an unblemished patch at chest level. Perfect. His hands softly guided her head to rest there, reassuring her that his heart still thumped away.
"You'd have to be incredibly solid to survive that---or with fantastic armor. No wonder you can't be brought down for long. And even knowing that, I still worry."
Her labcoat hid most things, but Billy was still careful about how tightly he held her. Just in case.

They'd be okay. They had to be. They had a future to look forward to after all...
"T-that doesn't mean I won't try my damnedest to keep you from getting hurt love, just as I know you feel the same way." She giggled at the latter comment, "Papa and mama built me strong I guess, but papa can take on much more than me... he's been in the field for so long and taken on more threats than I can even begin to imagine... I... I wish he was here..." She smiled a bit bittersweetly, her eyes welling up tears at the sudden rise of memories. "He was a defender, a protector, a Paladin... always selflessly putting others safety before his, giving his all so that no one would get hurt..."
She laughed a bit and shook her head, "And mama... she's so beautiful even in the battlefield. At least to those lucky enough to see her. She's so graceful, so skillful at what she does... She's so passionate about her work that it's no surprise that she's the best at what she does. She would have made sure papa was covered, and when she was confident he could handle his own, she'd blaze through the field and swiftly take out the important targets without getting even a scratch or getting caught... She was amazing."
It was clear where she got her fighting style from, an odd combination of her father's strength and her mother's grace and the openness with which she talked with at the moment gave new light into something else...
She was being honest, open, she was... comfortable. The scene was laid out to take the opportunity to speak with her about things she would have usually kept to herself, such as her family as she just did as she held onto her mate being comforted.

"They did a fantastic job," Billy had to say, squeezing her hand tightly. "You're living up to them, I don't doubt it at all"
He laid there for a few moments, thinking. By the time he had another question to ask, his other hand had wound his fingers into her hair and started stroking it. "I'm sorry if this question is too personal, but can you tell me what they were like together?"
no subject
She smiled into his chest, nuzzling against him as she held onto his clothes lightly. "They were wonderful, even though they each had multiple mates, it was hard not to notice when they were together." Her face grew warm, the smile only brightening as memories flooded into her mind.
"Even though papa was a strong and stalwart man. A knight and a defender of justice for everyone in Azeroth, not only our Faction, the Horde... Mama was the one who clearly ran the show." She giggled a little, shaking her head.
"She was a strong and fierce woman, never bowing down to anyone, specially men... She... She had an unpleasant experience when she was young... Having been tricked into mating with a general for the Horde... Finding out that she had been played broke her heart and made her forsake love."
"That was until she met the stubborn, hard headed man that was my papa." she joked, laughing a little. "His courting methods were... unique. Specially for someone who got constantly denied by mama and sometimes even injured due to her fierce personality... but that's another story that would take long."
"But that made for their imposing and noticeable presence when they're together. It's clear that their love is unlike any other. Unique in it's own way. When they're together, they sort of exude confidence and an admirable attitude. People usually can't help but turn and look at the odd couple. Specially since it's a cross-race couple, but that fact doesn't even faze them, which is why people don't even question it, besides, they're usually too busy staring at how they look together." she added with a smile, blushing a bit.

"In other words...strong, like us in some ways, but very different. I could stand to be stronger," he said. "Have you wondered what they'd think of us? I know they probably expect someone from your world, with all that power."
no subject
"They'd be more than happy that someone finally made me happy." She started, that was the most important thing and she knew that her parents would want nothing but her happiness. At her words she leaned up and kissed his lips lightly, a sweet promise that he in fact, made her very much happy.
"Mama would probably tease you to hell and back along with my other mama's, well except mama Naly, she'd probably be the one scolding them and telling them to back off." she laughed. "Papa would tant to talk... for a very long time. Get to know everything he can about you cause, well, he's very protective of me and all his children. I think their biggest thing would be wanting you to be more assertive? Secure and confident. Those things mean so much to the family, which is why all of them fuss so much over me... I lack those things unless I'm working in my workshop of in the fields of combat."
"You have to know what you want, and not let others deter you from that path. Stay true to yourself..."
no subject
"I can handle an interrogation, don't worry. And...confidence, that's something I'm still working on, I know. But I'm going to work at it. At getting things done, leading, and fighting for our lives. To reunite with everyone we've lost."
Several painful images pass through his mind then---best friends, his own family, and the missing piece in his mind and heart. Billy fell quiet, remembering.

Her hand moved to caress his face gently, her bright teal eye focused on his own looking to try and figure what was wrong.
"I... are you okay love? Did I..."
no subject
This probably wasn't the best time for his worries.
no subject
She pouted a bit inwardly, feeling a bit as if she failed him but shook her head nonetheless nuzzling against his chest and kissing over his heart. "Don' worry love, we'll be home soon. Then we'll be safe again."
no subject
Billy curled himself more tightly around her, wondering if he'd done the right thing. She'd said to be more confident and assertive, right? Then discussing his insecurities was not a good idea. On the other hand, they'd also had a talk about being honest...and this was contradicting that. He wasn't quite sure where to go from here.
"I want to be here with you for a while---but of course we have our friends to worry about. And it's uncomfortable here. And there's really a lot to do, isn't there?"
no subject
"I..." was he dismissing her? No, she doesn't believe her Billy ever would. That wasn't like him... "Y-yeah, you're right... Maybe I should go back to my cot and tell the medics I'm ready to leave? Then we can go check on everyone."
She looked uncertain of what she should say for a moment, the scene was a bit tense... "We s-should hope for a quick recovery so we can get back to work! There's m-much to do after all~" her voice didn't give away much. She was her usual chipper and optimistic self when she spoke her last words.
no subject
It was distant now, wasn't it. He...wait her question. First. That. Yes.
"Are you ready to leave, though? I don't want to keep you if you don't want to---but I do---and now...ah..."
He stopped to think for a second. Had he been given anything that would warp his mind? Pain medication, maybe? That could be it.
"...could you look at my eyes? Are they out of focus at all?"
no subject
That was until she snickered, and soon thereafter started giggling. A cheerful giggle that soon turned into a bit of an embarrassing laugh as she tried her best to cover her mouth.
A hand went up caress his cheek as she wiped a giddy tear from her single exposed eye. "You're everywhere aren't ya sweetheart?" The question was more of a comforting one, her voice sweet and soft, almost a whisper.
She however followed suit, leaning up to look at his eyes. "They're focused of course, and they're alive, full of emotion and worry, just like a living person would be." She placed a kiss on each over the eyelids and settled her head on his pillow besides him.
"You know I'd love to just cuddle up and not move, enjoying your presence. But like ya said, we each have things to do, and our home is much more comfy than the medical cots." She snickered, "Maybe I should bring that up in the next meeting? Better medical equipment!"
no subject
"So it's not the drugs..." he continued in an awed whisper, probably just as confusing as before. The little smile grew at her attention, growing until he snatched her close and held fast.
"Glad to hear it. I was worried. But...hey, you're right. We'll be better able to talk once we've sorted things and returned to our own bed. There are certainly less potential eavesdroppers there, unless Nokosi's around again."
It was clearly said out of affection for their friend.
no subject
"Of course he'll be there, isn't he always... though... he might be a bit preoccupied himself don'tcha think? I mean now with Kaya an' all." She grinned deviously.
no subject
Thinking of the two of them happened to bring back strange memories, and so he made a silly face. "Remind me to concentrate hard on mental shielding techniques, though."
no subject
no subject
"When we were together once, she...read my thoughts. Nothing of you, don't worry, but my feelings because I didn't shield strongly enough. I learned how to stop her the next day and it won't be a problem anymore, but I don't want to do the same to her."
no subject
Ronnae looked very embarrassed, looking down shyly and fidgeting a bit. "I, I s-see, well.. a-ah.... I'm s-sure you'll b-be fine h-hun."
no subject
"I will. I'm not sure what they're even doing yet---not that it's any of my business---but it's good to prepare."
He smiled one more time, nuzzling into her shoulder. "It's not a worry now. So we'll go about things, we'll come home. And I'll be able to say everything then."
no subject
"Okays then~ It's a date." She winked playfully.
