Lirath - Ship Survival

As the battle raged outside, those remaining aboard Stacy had their hands full preparing for the incoming flood of refugees.

Positioned near the Bleed-Gate orbiting Lirath, Stacy stood ready to receive the refugees. Ship after ship ascended as quickly as they could, some of them making a break for the Bleed-Gate itself while the smaller ships were forced to dock at Stacy, unloading their cargo of refugees before setting off again for the planet's surface again to take on more passengers.

Several small units of GIA soldiers were also sent up to help the Transmigration crew take in the massive amount of refugees, many of whom were tired, wounded, and scared. It wouldn't take long for the ship to begin filling with people.

With the battle raging outside, and the Ohm clambering outside, trying to get in, it would be a tall order to keep all of the refugees safe and calm, but the crew didn't have much choice.

Allenby rolled in midair, narrowly dodging the hunk of metal. Okay, maybe she needed to stop yelling at the thing and just try and kill it--it was way too fast.

She grinned at last when she saw their new backup--and that it actually managed to knock the Ohm silly, even if just for a moment. Oh, and the Zaku. That's really the best use for those things, Allenby thought as she soared up and decided to test one of the other buttons.

Well hey, this one launched warheads! Allenby grimaced as she opened fire, praying silently that it would do something to it.

From the shadows, Spider-Man had watched the fight unfold. He couldn't go in half crazed like Zetta and Allenby were. The thing was fast. Too fast. Quicksilver-fast. Then, he had an idea.

Going back for the forklift he launched, he lifted it up over his head once more and with a running start, launched it at the Demon. However, he was quick to follow right behind. Waldoes out, stingers unsheathed, the web-slinger figured the beast would slice through it when he saw it coming. Too preoccupied to dodge a face full of paralyzing spikes from his wrists.

Maybe these things DID have a purpose than making me a Wolverine-ripoff!

Ha! The foolish Assassins!

Though the Ohm were spreading out to assault the minions, the minions weren't taking that bait. They focused fire on one Assassin after another, chaining their attacks into combo hits of spells, strikes, and shots that each built on the last, hewing through the Ohm's defenses to rack up far more punishment than the attacks would have done individually.

Not without cost, though. As the Assassins began to inflict their own punishment, Zetta Invited his healer minion next to him, safely out of the fray. She began casting heals not on the minions, but on Zetta himself -- and because the minions were his constructs, bound by the Sacred Tome in inhabited, a heal cast on it was a heal cast on all of them.

Zetta may just have a little more tactical sense than anyone ever gave him credit for!

Normally Lash would have said a few choice comments about how the battle was going, so it was a testament of how annoyed she was by this new monster still blocking the possibility of the hanger being opened to let her out.

While the others were busy attacking the creature, she was making her way towards the controls, hoping that she'd be able to find a way to fix it before it was too late. As much as she'd like to just blow up the damn thing; leaving the rest of them with an open hatch inviting the Ohm in was a terrible prospect she didn't want to think about. It was a good thing she was able to work under so much pressure; she had a feeling a few others would just be panicking at this moment. Her tiny hands were swiftly moving around damaged cables, as some of them flickered dangerously when she put them together, but she just bit down her tongue and stopped herself from making too much noise to attract attention.

She knew the zords could be called upon any moment...

The Demon reacted quickly to the attacks directed at it, grabbing the forklift Spidey had tossed towards it, turning to throw it in the path of Allenby's missiles just before they reached it. The vehicle exploded, sending shrapnel flying past the Demon as Peter closed in.

Unfortunately for Peter, the Demon's reflexes were ramped up to 11, rolling back in time to dodge Peter's sneak attack by a hair and rolling backwards, just before lunging forward with it's bladed claw to strike out at him.

They would need to attack from more angles than that to catch this thing off guard.

Spider-Sense going crazy! Can't stop now!

He was going too fast to effectively stop himself. There was only one thing to do - use his reflexes to roll out of the away of the claw. However, despite his amazing reflexes, the Demon was faster, catching him on the side.

There's a pained yell as the web-slinger twists to the ground.

Damn! Got me good, but I can't let him get away!

"Guys, we need to corner him!" he shouted. "He's too fast in the open!"

"Well that's just super." He didn't exactly have a ton of minions in reserve, here! They were all wading into fights with the Assassins!

Oh, wait. Duh!

"INCOMING!" the book roared, as his minions began picking up the Assassins to hurl violently at the Demon. Suck arbitrary and physics-defying lift mechanics, Netherworld style!

"You all right?!" Allenby demanded as the guy on foot went tumbling. She flew the Dog over to cover him, firing as she went. Her eyes flicked over to the other figure at the controls--they both looked like insects themselves, compared to the Ohm and the mechs.

Corner him--well, she thought she had an idea of how to do that, but she didn't want to move 'till she knew that the spider guy was all right. Still, she had to laugh out loud when Zetta responded by starting to hurl the Ohm's own flunkies at it. "Hah!" She began to maneuver tightly, pouring in fire from as big an arc she could manage while still trying to cover Peter.

Jamie hissed in a breath through his teeth as the Geno's right-side video displays flickered and jumped. The Demon's attack had dealt some damage to the visual sensors on that side of the Zoid's head, and while she was far from impaired, her pilot's sight was compromised. He'd have to be careful - if the bug had any sense at all, it'd try to take advantage of that and attack from his weak side.

He wasn't out of this fight yet, though. Jetting toward the downed Spider-Man, keeping Allenby and her cover fire on his right, Jamie opened fire on the Demon again, this time with the intent of driving it back rather than actually hitting it.

"Keep an eye on 'im, girl," he muttered to his Zoid, hoping more that she would pick up his intent than his actual words. He wanted to be ready to shift his guns' aim as soon as the Ohm tried jumping out of his line of fire - and True Strike willing, he might actually succeed.

Jamie wasn't the only one who was hissing. Lash was hissing, cursing and doing a lot of kicking too. This was so frustrating! AS soon as she fixed something, two cables broke off. There was no way, even for her, to do something efficiently in such a short time.

Dire times required dire measures. Even overcoming one's own prejudice, in a sense.

"Hey Zetta!" Lash called out from her post, hoping that the monster was too preoccupied with the others to care about one tiny wunderkind in the corner. "Mind getting that scientist minion out of here? There's too many cables to fix!"

[identity profile] ohm-nom-nom.livejournal.com 2011-08-23 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately for Zetta, throwing the Assassins wasn't a bright idea. After all, the Ohm were all connected psychically, so the Demon knew exactly where all of the other Ohm were at any given time, giving it the edge to dodge just right.

Lash yelling out caught the creature's attention, as it noticed her remaining unengaged in the battle, and quickly labeling her as a non-combatant, and thus, vulnerable. Jumping around in quick, random patterns to avoid making a predictable target, it rushed passed all of the other attackers, leaping high to make a bounding strike at Lash.
badassfreakingoverlord: (really pissed)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2011-08-24 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, the goal had just been to force the thing to dodge in the first place! Seizing the initiative and all, you know.

In a fit of what he would later call tactical genius, though it bore a suspicious resemblance to furious desperation, Zetta Invited a warehouse directly between the Demon and Lash. It crashed down from an arbitrary point above. In a perfect world he'd intercept it, but he'd settle for any result that left Lash unharmed.

[personal profile] thewunderkind 2011-08-25 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Lash hadn't been watching with the Ohm was charging at her, too preoccupied at getting this damn hangar open. She didn't stare as it rushed at her, but rather jumped up for a small second as the large warehouse landed, sending wind in her direction.

"Hey! I asked for the scientist minion, not an entire warehouse!"

Being concentrated on the job had sometimes its drawbacks.

[identity profile] metalwebhead.livejournal.com 2011-08-25 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't worry about me! Get the assassins! I got this thing!"

With the Demon on the move, Spider-Man began pushing himself to the limit to catch up to it, using the Warehouse's appearance as a distraction, grabbing a fallen girder on the way up and moving to intercept it, swinging the girder.

"Hey, ugly! Rule number one of fighting - don't turn away from the real threat!"

[identity profile] nobel-berserker.livejournal.com 2011-08-25 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Allenby let out a sigh of relief when Zetta blocked the Ohm's path to Lash with that timely warehouse. At Spiderman's shouted assurance she finally shot after the head Ohm, pushing the mech's controls to the limits.

The Dog's machine guns spat erratic fire at any Assassins that Allenby could spot, but she wasn't concentrating on them. She just drove the Dog flat-out at the Ohm, hoping that with one wild move she could body-slam it right into Zetta's warehouse.
