Lirath - Ship Survival

As the battle raged outside, those remaining aboard Stacy had their hands full preparing for the incoming flood of refugees.

Positioned near the Bleed-Gate orbiting Lirath, Stacy stood ready to receive the refugees. Ship after ship ascended as quickly as they could, some of them making a break for the Bleed-Gate itself while the smaller ships were forced to dock at Stacy, unloading their cargo of refugees before setting off again for the planet's surface again to take on more passengers.

Several small units of GIA soldiers were also sent up to help the Transmigration crew take in the massive amount of refugees, many of whom were tired, wounded, and scared. It wouldn't take long for the ship to begin filling with people.

With the battle raging outside, and the Ohm clambering outside, trying to get in, it would be a tall order to keep all of the refugees safe and calm, but the crew didn't have much choice.

It was just Ashley's luck that she'd end up dealing with another robed cult. She'd been keeping a group of tween-aged girls occupied and distracted from the fact that they didn't know where their parents were. But when the attack happened, she snapped into survival mode more quickly than one would expect. "Girls, you need to get out of here!" Sure she had a gun on her. But that didn't mean she knew how to use it very well.

Nevertheless, she turned to them and tried to be brave and stand her ground against the approaching Catastrophists. "We don't want your crazy here! Get-get out of here!" Sure, she held the gun up to firing level, but her arms shook worse than her knees.

Unfortunately for her, one of the cultists noticed Ashley. He turned towards her, and let out a ragged, wretched laugh as he drew a large combat knife from his waist.

It was obvious that he didn't view her as much of a threat as he slowly moved towards her.

Beautiful, if unwitting young woman? Creepy cultist with a knife sneaking up on her?

Nightwing caught the cultist at the wrist and elbow, pushing hard on the elbow to overextend his arm. "Okay, seriously. I'm used to a certain amount of cliche in my line of business. But this?"

"Grah!" the cultist let out as Dick grabbed his arm, dropping the knife.

He did, however, manage to catch it with his other hand as it fell. He hit a small trigger on the grip, causing the blade to buzz as an energy field covered it. With a quick swipe, he severed the arm Dick was holding, the energy coating the blade instantly cauterizing the wound. With another growl of rage, he thrashed out again, swiping at Dick.

These men were mad enough to even sacrifice their own limbs for an edge in battle.

When Dick swooped in to her rescue, it did much for her nerves. She licked her lips and focused on her aim. If she timed this right, she stood a good chance of not hitting her hero accidentally. When she found her opportunity, she fired. She flinched at the sound and the recoil knocked her arms up toward, but not quite hitting, her face.

The arm coming off in his hand was NOT what Nightwing expected. He acted without real thought, dropping the arm and dropping back, outside of swiping range.

Which, luckily, also put him in place to be missed by the gunfire. But if it distracted the cultist enough to let Dick disarm him? All the better.

Ashley's shot just barely managed to hit the cultist, deflecting off his armored shoulder pad. Still, it distracted him for a moment, allowing Dick to knock the knife out of his hand.

Enraged, the cultist rushed forward to tackle Dick with an incomprehensible growl.

"And now we're back to the cliches." Dick took hold of the remaining arm and fell backward, bringing his legs up to catch the cultist in the midsection, using his backward momentum to pull the cultist over.

Okay, shooting that gun was not as easy as Leon made it look. It didn't seem like guns are for her. It was time to go back to an old strategy: Throwing things. She looked around for something that looked viable. What she found was a suitcase that had been left behind by a fleeing refugee.

She picked it up, and waited for another opportunity. This time she wouldn't miss.

Dick's move successfully threw the cultist to the floor, pinning him down. The suitcase hitting his head as he hit the ground only seemed to aggravate him further.

With an animalistic snarl, he moved to slam his head against Dick's in a powerful headbutt, while attempting to use the confusion to attempt to grab the pistol holstered at his own waist.

Dick approved of the suitcase, even if it had come a bit too close to his own head for comfort. But the headbutt wasn't quite expected, throwing Dick back to sit on the guy's thighs. "Okay, oww."

He didn't see the pistol. Didn't mean he wasn't ready to deal with another weapon if it came up, though.

With that, the madman managed to draw his gun, but it was too close for him to actually get a shot off quickly enough. Instead, he opted to try and pistolwhip Dick in the side of the head, while at the same time using all his strength to push him off.

This time, though, Dick was ready for it. He caught the madman's hand, ducking the attempted pistolwhip and tried to punch him instead.

With the cultist's only hand caught, and him being disoriented by Dick's punch rendered him mostly harmless. One more solid hit and he would likely be out for good.

Well, if that was all it was going to take, Dick could certainly oblige. One solid hit, coming right up. Possibly a little harder than it needed to be, but he wanted the cultist out for the count.
