Enchanted Aquatica---the Prom [WIDE OPEN Y'ALL]

The day had finally arrived for her big event, and Starfire couldn't be happier---or more nervous, actually. She was certainly not an expert on the inner workings of a prom, but it couldn't be too terribly complicated, right? As long as the people could eat, dance, and talk, it should be a reasonable success.

With that in mind, her decorations sprung from her mind into the large dome all around her, transforming a grey Sensorium into a beautiful underwater world, one with clear waters and free from the possibility of a shark attack.

The first change was the scent of the air, shifting into the comforting salty scent of the seas. Then the ground beneath her feet became a hardened sandstone, maintaining the gritty texture while remaining easy to walk upon---except for the smooth dance floor, of course. The grey dome transformed into a flowing bluish-green, rippling all around with fish of all colors passing in the background. Some of the 'sky' faded into a violet tone over the dance floor, lit by glowing circular lights in every color. Suspended in midair, they almost looked like motionless fireflies, though they sometimes swayed in tune with songs.

Tables arose from coral in all colors, rising from the ground and twisting to provide a flattened surface on the very top---rounded ones for guests, and long tables off to the side containing shell-bowls of food. Chairs were large floating clam shells with well cushioned interiors, some large enough to hold two people. More comfortable spongy places to sit were also littered across the area, notably by the large shell-shaped enclosure that was the promised swimming pool. It too was lit by the floating lights, providing what she hoped was a romantic atmosphere.

Finally, the glowing stage above the dance floor couldn't help but attract attention with its chairs. Six royal thrones and one plush chair of all colors directly in the middle rested in the back of the stage, leaving the front open for announcements. Just off to the side of the stage stood the DJ's table, with even that machine painted to match the soft underwater glow of the scenery.

Everything finally seemed pleasing to Starfire. With one last change, dressing herself in the formal attire of the prom, she sent out the signal to everyone and waited. She hoped they would have a wonderful time.

He nodded. "I've been to the one Jr. found. We played some poker. It was... interesting. I learned about bluffing."

"A few upgrades? Are you allowed to tell people what those are, or is it a secret?"

"Poker huh? I never really liked gambling games, mainly because it's too easy for me, and it's hard to shut off my powers during it." he shrugged.

"Nothing crazy big, just amplifying the energy core and upgrading the weapon system. I added a bit of cargo space in case we needed to do rescues and to add a few more plasma mine field nets. They were really useful on the last fight."

"You cheat at cards? Well, I never." Actually, it would kind of be a surprise to Zouichi if Splicer didn't cheat at cards. "I didn't know you had trouble shutting off your powers."

"Ah, right. That was some pretty fancy flying. I wonder how long it'll take the Ohm to get wise to your tactics."

"Information gatherin' an' prying into minds is one of my specialties and standard procedures, it's a habit that I can't shut off once my mind starts runnin'. So if I'm tryin' ta think about what my chances are with my hand, my instincts instantly kick in allowing me to look into my opponents head for the answer." he shrugged and smiled.

"Far as that goes, war is always changin' they'll change tactics, we'll change tactics, an' it'll keep going that way till one side loses."

"Hmm. It must make a lot of games pretty boring, then. Unless you play against a computer."

"Yes, you're right. I was wondering more about how the Ohm learn, how their behavior evolves. Whether they have strategists. And if the next battle will be a little less brute force."

"Exactly! Why do you think I have such a passion for video games?!" he almost exclaimed excitedly as he laughed.

"I'm sure they do. They didn't seem like the reckless type for sure. What I wonder is why they haven't tried a direct attack considerin' their numbers and power. Somethin' ain' right, and I have a feelin' that there's more to their war than we know... much more."

Zouichi smiled. "Well, you wouldn't be the only one. There are quite a few people on board that like to play."

"There's a lot we don't know about this war, honestly. It's true of any conflict, but in this case, I'd say there was more information we don't know than information we do."

He motioned to the booth. "At any rate, did Starfire ask you to run the music?"

[identity profile] expendable-mind.livejournal.com 2011-08-05 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's usually like that isn't it?" he chuckled. "No matter how much intel we have, we're usually in the shadows about something more."

He patted the set and grinned, "Yup. I offered my help when I heard about the festivities she was planning and here I am."

"Hmm. I didn't know you were into music. Although I guess you do sort of look the type."

He motioned back to the rest of the crowd. "Anyway, I should go try to prevent someone from spiking the punch." Because ostensibly, that's what he was here for.

"Haha, somehow I don' doubt someone would. But don' be a stranger yeah? Pass by whenever you're not doin' yer rounds an' such kay?" Splicer nodded with a smile.
