Post Mission Party At The Bar

Its time to unwind, relax and receive news of home. A pod pop occurred while some were on a mission and it's time to meet up with new friends, drink well with old, and relax. The Drunken Dragon has opened its doors and stands ready and willing to assist in forgetting the trials those on the mission experienced.

OOC: If you want a specific barmaid, just put their name in the subject. Otherwise, enjoy, intermingle and do as you like.

Contrary to what Kali might have believed, Cassie was giving this a lot of thought, but once a person has proven to have no difficulty lying once what was to say that it wouldn't happen again? How could she trust that even what she was being told now was the full truth? Trust was a delicate thing, strong when nurtured, but easily broken when abused. It was not as easy for Cassie to trust as it had once been, but she still tried. She still wanted to see the best in everyone if she could. To find out that she'd trusted only to be repaid with lies was a harsh fact and it did make the situation more difficult.

Eva... she should talk to Eva. Eva was Kang's friend and apparently knew Kali's secret, so surely the older woman could help her get a better grip on the situation.

She accepted Kali's grip for a moment, but then pulled away. It was comforting, but it also dulled her mind and caused her to want to let everything go. She wasn't ready for that yet. "I think that I would have liked your cousin as well. I know that I was very fond of who I believed you were. I thought that we were friends or at least I wanted to think that, but friendship asks for a certain amount of trust." Cassie told her slowly, closing her eyes. "I understand why you did what you did, but it doesn't really change what happened, does it? Even now, it wasn't you who told me the truth, but your father who, until a moment ago I thought was your uncle, who told me the truth. You're right that such information should have come from you and not your father. Not because it was rude though. This is a trust issue. At least for me."

She frowned. "Trust is not a one way road, Kali. You tell me that you'll tell the truth now, but you led me to believe that what you told me before was the truth and it wasn't. There is more often then not a good reason to withhold the truth, so how can I trust that the next time a good reason pops up that you won't do the same?" She hated to say it, but it needed to be said. "Tell me something. What happens if something else occurs and there is another good reason for you to lie, but this time it puts me and my friends in danger, would you hesitate to use me the same way as you did this time? I trusted you with personal information that could be used against me and my friends. How do I know that it won't be?" She shook her head. "I won't deny that I'm hurt, but I do want you to know that I'm not truly angry at you nor your father. You did what you believed was right and I can't be angry at you for that, but I must do the same." And right now she didn't consider trusting someone who had already betrayed that trust once to be the right choice.

Turning her attention to Kang, she nodded gratefully, taking his warning to heart. "I'll admit that I don't know exactly what passed between Kali and Marco, so I really can't speak to it. I'm sorry if he upset her."

She turned her attention back to Kali in that moment. "I am sorry for what happened, Kali, but... at the time he thought you were a threat. Experience has taught all of us that anyone can be an enemy, even a child." Silence fell as some old memories caught up with her. "Even someone that you love and trust." Cassie shook her head in an attempt to clear her mind. "You did what you believed was right and I assume that he did so too, just as I did what I believed was right. In the end, I suspect that none of us made the right choices. I know that he wasn't happy when you left though. I think that he regretted his words."

Cassie turned back to Kang. "You say that you have your own reasons for not trusting and I don't doubt that. Everyone has their own secrets. So, then if I had lied to you while you shared personal information about yourself with me, would you find it easy to trust me now?"

She sighed and continued. "I'm sorry if I have offended you. I only hope that you can see things from my point of view as well. I just want to keep my friends safe. Trust is too valuable to be easily flung around."

Kang definitely noticed that expression, seeing Fonrar clearly in his daughter. Apparently, she had the same tolerance level as her mother for double standards and such selfish, narrow views; Kali was, however, much more diplomatic about it. Fon would have thrown in a few choice curses.

His own expression was very impressed, proud, and showed that he was in complete agreement.

Cassie hesitated, realizing that she had, in her shock and worry, been a little too harsh. Kali was a child and she hadn't meant any harm.

"I'm sorry, Kali," she whispered, her shame plain on her face. "I shouldn't be so hard on you. I'll understand though if you can't forgive my actions. I have been cruel. I didn't mean to be, but I was and there is no excuse for my words or actions."

Turning to Kang, she added, "And to you as well, sir. I have made a poor first impression and I only hope that I will be able to make up for it in the future."

"I'll... I'll leave you two alone," she said, lowering her eyes, stepping away as she prepared to leave the father and daughter to their reunion.

(OOC: Is this better? I can rewrite it again if it's bad. I don't mind at all.)
