Down on the city level, right by the Kohaku River and near the imposing castle, a modern-looking white building welcomed one and all to its promise of running water and warmth. Maybe even a little socializing was in order.

The ramp led up to the heated roof level, where one and all could sit down and relax in an almost sauna-like environment. Below, corridors contained plenty of towels, places to leave clothes, quick showers, and the baths, a number of them sized for any and all comers.

The private areas were accessed through separate corridors on the outside, but the busier communal baths were just as warm and welcoming. Anyone of any size or species was welcome here, so long as they behaved themselves.

[ooc: it's mingling party post time! Just start a thread or hop in one, and note if your character's in a single sex bath, co-ed, or the sauna level upstairs. My characters will be here to meet some people too.]

He frowned slightly in distaste. "Yes, they do seem to have a way of... breathing while you try to sleep."

Not that he really got much sleep, anyway, even at home. "I understand there are some other buildings in the City that people have chosen to live in. They may be more comfortable and less... organic."

Yeah, Homura can relate to that-- she never got enough sleep to begin with, even at home, the reasons being a potent mixture of things to do and nightmares.

"I will have to look into that," she replies. "I wonder if I could find anywhere similar to my old room..."

Soren was mostly just a finicky workaholic who'd taken on a lot of unexpected work lately. Mostly wars.

"Your old room? Where did you originate from?"

"Japan," she says, and as if an afterthought: "Earth."

It would be nice to find somewhere familiar; so much here is completely foreign.

"Hmm. Never heard of it."

With that, he lapsed back into silence. This girl seemed content not to talk his ear off. Something he could appreciate, certainly.

"Where are you from?" She says it with no apparent sense of curiosity-- fairly blank. But in reality she actually is pretty curious. Another planet... another world. She didn't hesitate in believing the multiple worlds stuff she'd heard upon arrival, but this makes it somewhat more real.

"I lived on the Tellius continent, in the nation of Crimea. For the most part, anyway; my mercenary group was occasionally called upon to travel elsewhere on business."

He closed his eyes briefly, enjoying the heat. "But it appears no one else from my world is here."

A mercenary... you can't tell just by looking at her, but she's suddenly a lot more on guard. He doesn't seem hostile, but who knows what abilities he has hidden? Homura is sizing him up, trying to decide if he's an ally or an enemy or someone completely neutral. He's so relaxed, she doesn't think he's an enemy.

"I was lucky and unlucky enough to arrive with several others from my own world. I've never heard of your world."

He noticed the change in her attitude, but wasn't particularly bothered by it. "We're not in the habit of attacking people without reason," he said by way of explanation. "Particularly not in the bath."

Soren raised an eyebrow at her. "Does that mean some of your enemies came with you?"

"I see." She flicks her eyes to her feet for a brief moment before looking back to him. She doesn't have to hide her being a magical girl anymore... yes. "I've been told as much." No mention of Kyubey, not yet. She doesn't have to hide things, but to just say it without any hesitation? She's not comfortable with that yet.

"Unfortunate. But crew members are apparently prevented from seriously harming one another. While on the ship, at any rate. Though I understand some still manage to get into trouble."

"Yes, I've been told of the violations and punishment. Trouble is hard to avoid."

She doesn't say any more, just lapses into silence.
