The fine fine line.

In this world there were givers and there were takers.

The helpful, and the help themselves.

Jinx was for the time being one of the latter. Though the coarse of her short few years of life before the Earth was destroyed she had spent most of it firmly in the mindset of taking care of herself first. Up until recently that mindset had done pretty well by her.

But here she was now, adrift in space both literally and metaphorically speaking. She had worked all her young life for respect, perfecting her body, training her abilities. Scheming and plotting into the wee hours of the morning some days and what had that gotten her?

A backhand from a selfish woman she had looked up to.

Jinx had taken a few days to adjust to the sudden change in surroundings, hunkering down in a few areas, learning what she could. Now was the time for exploration. The ship had things she could use, information she wanted, skills she could learn, and who knew what other treasures she could stumble upon. She just had to find them.

"S'jus' another war to me really. Different enemy, different location, but war is war and it never changes. One side thinks their right, as well as the other. They fight until one or the other is victorious, whether it be by total victory, or peace treaties." He shrugs.

"The Ohm remind me of the biggest threat in my world, so it's not that shocking to me really. Faced em' in a space battle not too long ago. When we were near a planet doing a mission? Or was it shore leave? Either or, don't matter. A fleet of them showed up. And it was up to Star Command to put an end to them."

"Sure we beat them back and acquired some new intel... but we took heavy damage. No losses, but it took quite some time to get the ships that we didn't lose back in shape."

"It's true from what I hear." he replied, tightening a bolt and grabbing a few other tools to work on other items on the wing.

"Apparently it wasn't until recently that they made big progress as far as the big threat is involved. The last star battle."

"Ha! Hey, I tell ya the truth. What good is it to tell ya a lie and make you act confident about things. It's better that you know the facts that we do know and go into this fight with your head screwed on right no? That way you know what to expect as far as the knowledge available to us." He looked back and gave her a reassuring smile.

"But like I said. I don't plan on losing this fight. Not now, or ever, for as long as I'm up and going."

"Haha! Then you'll be standing really far away then." He winked and laughed a bit. "I'm a stealth specialist, second specialty is sniping. So I'll either be in the middle of things assassinating, or sniping people from way far. Either or, I enjoy my job."

He smiled, "Yeah, same here. Got a good head on yer shoulders, you'll know how to keep it there better than a brute with insane strength. Now if you have em both? Then you'll nigh unstoppable."

He chuckled, remembering Miguel was that kind of brute. Might not have been the brightest tool in the shed, but man could that mofo break ya apart in a sec.

Splicer paused and looked back at the girl raising an eyebrow.

"You talk as if it never happened that way tho, somethin' went wrong I take it?"

"Kind'of the biggest slap on the face huh? But hey, who knows, you might be able to join one of the groups here. Maybe move on up more than ye were back at yer world yeah?"

[identity profile] expendable-mind.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah I hear ya. Can't really work none with no inspiration. You start feeling sluggish and don't really put in yer all an' all that."

He raised a brow and grinned. "Yeah, sure. Take it easy yeah?"

It was always fun talking to the playful rogue types. They always made conversations and occurrences that much more playful.
