Obtaining a New Power [open]

Once Shoutarou was settled in, Hoshi went to the Sensoriums on the HardBoiler with the Lost Driver and Nazca Memory in tow. She felt like there was new energy inside of her by what happened at the Narumi Detective Agency, definitely ready to put forth her energy into making Nazca work to its' fullest potential. Sure, it wasn't like aiming for Xtreme, but she didn't feel like she was being left out of the fun. No, she was going to help protect the smiles of those on Stacy along with Philip and Shoutarou.

She walked inside of an unused Sensorium and waited for Philip to come help her learn about the Nazca Memory as they agreed upon.

Now that she had more of an understanding about Nazca, Hoshi went to somewhere in the city, ready to try out her new powers. She stood perfectly calm and composed before attaching the Lost Driver to her waist, it wrapping around her. Then, she held up the Nazca Memory and clicked it.

"NAZCA!"

"HENSHIN!" she called and placed the memory in the slot of the Driver. She spread her arms out and felt flames and light surround her, transforming her into Nazca. Her hand took the Nazca Blade out of its' sheath, twirling it around, and she ran it over her gloved hand.

She wanted someone to train against just to see what techniques she could gain from this form so that she can utilize all of the skills that Philip previously showed her.

( OOC: Okay, so the first part is for Philip and Hoshi while the second one is free for anyone! Feel free to bother her about the transformation or anything else, as well! )

"What's your preference?" he asked, glancing over her in a quick assessment of her physical state. (And maybe just a little checking out. But seriously, mostly the assessing her.)

"Any. Endurance, strength, weight -- I can do it all." And it was true. Judging by her form, she was fairly toned with all the exercise she got. Luckily, however, she didn't notice him checking her out.

It was harmless. It really was.

"Now you're tempting me to challenge you," he said, a mischievous spark in his eyes. "Or challenge you to challenge me. I'm not sure which."

Good.

"Oh, really?" remarked Hoshi confidently as she smirked. "I may be a girl, but I'm stronger than that by a landslide. I can handle anything you throw at me."

One eyebrow went up. "Wait, you think I'd think less of your physical capabilities because you're a girl? I should be offended!" Of course, since the smile never left his voice or his expression, he clearly wasn't. "How are you at, say, vertical ab crunches?"

"Not necessarily! I mean, I just like to say it 'cause it sounded cool." That was a totally valid explanation, Hoshi. Really.

"And, I'm pretty well at them! Why?"

"Then you can do one of my favorite ones!"

He concentrated for a moment, telling the Sensorium to invoke a few specific items. First, a crossbar supported between two poles about ten feet off the ground. One large pole with a flat top only a couple feet off the ground; another with a flat top well above the bar's height.

"Ha! That worked well. Just hook your knees around that bar and hang upside down to start."

"All right!" It was just like hanging off the monkey bars during gym and on the playground. Hoshi went to grasp at the large pole, pulling her weight up on top of it. Then, when she was up there, she hooked her legs over the bar and then hung upside down with her arms dangling.

... Unfortunately, this caused her beylauncher to come crashing down, as well as the rest of her other stuff.

"Well, that's not good."

Morgan promptly slapped a hand over his mouth and turned away. It didn't hide the shaking of his shoulder, but... can you really blame him?

"Sorry!" he said, still grinning as he turned back. "Here, let me just move all that out of the way..." He ducked down to start gathering it up.

"Oh, no! It's okay!" Hoshi said, waving her hand as best as she could when she was upside down like this.

While she waited for Morgan to get on the other bar, she decided to swing around a bit, humming some kind of tune under her breath.

Oh no, not quite yet. A little more concentration, and a bowl full of rice appeared on the lowermost pole, just far enough away that when she hung straight down and stretched her fingers she could reach it. Above her, on the uppermost ledge, an empty bowl of the same make appeared.

Morgan offered her a pair of chopsticks, still grinning. "Heard of this one?"

...Okay, this was an unusual training method, if she ever heard of one. Still, she wanted to try it out just because it was so new and so unusual at the same time.

"Not exactly," she said, grabbing the pair of chopsticks. "What are we doing, if you don't mind my asking?"

"You transfer the rice from the bowl it's in now to the bowl above you, using the chopsticks," he said. "One grain at a time."

Did he hope for her to be alarmed or enthused? Either way, he didn't expect her to back down, so he's anticipating nothing but fun out of this.

The logical half of Hoshi's brain was considering the absurdity of this, but the other half was thinking it'd be a nifty experience all the same.

"Very well," she said as if the entire thing didn't faze her in the slightest. She went to take one grain of rice in between the chopsticks and went to place it in the bowl above her, thinking that wasn't that bad. Now came the hundreds of others.

Oh, well. She loved a challenge!

"The goal is to keep up the flow. Just banging out vertical crunches isn't a hard thing, it's all pure muscle," he said, watching her. "The real idea is that you never break your momentum. Plucking a rice grain from the bowl should be as fluid and effortless as every other part of the motion."

No complaining or protests! Just a willing effort. He appreciated that immensely, and it was worth a few extra points of respect.

She listened to what Morgan had to say, nodding as best as she could when she was upside down like this. While she was listening, she continued to put grain after grain of rice in the bowl, not losing her momentum at all.

"Good thing that I've got enough muscle in this body of mine," she commented offhandedly, still not showing any signs of weakness of any sort. Admittedly, this was really fun and definitely served to strengthen her more than she was right now.

"Clearly!" Morgan said, sincerely impressed. Most people, starting out, couldn't handle very much of this, but she was taking to it like a pro. "How'd you pick it up?"

"Well, it was primarily doing things like strength and weight training, and when I became serious about doing my sport, I went on to do endurance training and pretty much became a jack of all trades when it came to building up muscle," Hoshi explained, still doing great work on getting the rice in the bowl above her. By now, she probably had it a quarter of the way full with only more to go.

"That's impressive dedication, especially if you can just jump into this. Now I just need to convince you to become my student," he said, teasingly.

"I'm always looking for new things to try, so why not?" Hoshi replied, continuing to work on the task at hand.

He leaned back against the pole to laugh, running a hand back through his hair as he did. "You'd be a real catch for me if I ever thought martial arts could be your first love, but somehow I get the feeling that spot's been filled."

"My first love's always my family, then my second's my friends, and finally my third one is my sport," she replied, an easy smile falling on her features. "I suppose martial arts is my fourth or fifth love. It depends if it can combat my love to cook."

And he just laughed again, easy and lighthearted. "It isn't that simple, but it isn't that complicated either. What's your sport, then?"

His guess was soccer. Of course he's wrong.

"Beyblading! It's done with a spinning top, but it's a lot better than it sounds. It's high contact and very charging. Personally, I love it and I want to teach it to everyone here."

"Then I'll trade you lessons!" He was just as eager to learn new things, especially since it seemed he had nothing but free time on this ship right now.
